Captain Caramel arrived at night at Horse Shoe Bay with her ship. Tired from her long journey, she walked around town, looking for a place to sleep and maybe to drink.

Unable to find anything, she asked a stranger for help:

"Excuse me, can you help? I'm looking for the nearest inn or bar.''

The pony pointed out the inn behind the warehouse. Thanking the kind stranger she walked toward the inn. She already hear the loud music.

"The prancing parrot'' she read the sign out loud.

Stepping inside, everypony greeted her with joy. They were all celebrating with Apple cider or rum.

But one pony grabbed her attention. Sitting at the bar, not celebrating but drawing something.

Intrigued by this she approached him: Why are they celebrating? And why aren't ye?

Rave looked up from his maps, as a pegasus approached him, asking him questions. "They are celebrating a the Goddess of Wind, for giving their ship a good breeze that allowed them to deliver goods to this town much faster than was anticipated. I'm not celebrating because I don't believe in their goddess.... nor do I have time for such nonsense. I have traveled all around Equestra, mapping every place I visit. I need to map out the area around Horse Shoe Bay. I was hired by the mayor himself. Now, I need to finish drawing out the town and than I will be on my way to explore the area around it". He looked back at his unfinished map and continued drawing.

"The goddes of wind, Ninlil'' Caramel thought to her self.  She has admired her since she was just a little filly.

"well if they are celebrating than I'm celebrating too." So she orderd herself a drink and turned back to the strange stallion

"So mapping, that's pretty interesting. My name is Caramel, Captain Caramel. what's yer name and can I offer you a drink? Caramel asked the stranger with a big smile.

The door burst open, catching everypony's attention, and a rather short earth mare proudly stomped inside. Her brown leather tunic was rather ragged from much travelling and adventuring. And fighting, of course, as the notches in the axe on her back implied she was an avid warrior. Her braided ginger mane and tail were rather scruffy, as was her pale blue coat.  The peculiar round helmet covering her cranium sported a pair of tiny wings, pointed up as if alert and to attention.

She stomped up to the bar and hopped onto a stool, grinning to the tender. "Your finest cider!" She nearly bellowed, setting a few bits on the counter.

Rave looked back up from his maps, a little bit annoyed, but also quite relieved as he hadn't spoken to anypony for quite some time, him being so busy exploring, moving from town to town, from place to place. "Sure, why not" he said. He put away his maps and tools into his saddlebag that also contained a mapping orb. He looked around him to see if it was safe to say his family name. "My name is Rave, Rave Darkmane of the Darkmane family". Rave looked towards the door and saw a mare stride inside.

"Nice to meet you Rave," She said as she order her drink for him. She noticed how nervous he was but she ignored it, everyone has their reason she thought. At the same time a proud mare bursts threw the door, catching Caramel's attention. Admiring her avid armor, she called her over. "He you there, yeah you in the armor. I like yer style, why don't ye come over here and I'll pay for yer drink,'' she yelled.

"I hope ye don't mind me calling her over" she said to Rave. As the heroic mare walked over, Caramel took a seat next to Rave and payed for the drinks. "This is going to be a hell of a night!" she said with a grin on her face.

The mare blinked over to the pegasus who addressed her, and her ears, and possibly the wings on her helmet, perked up at the notion of a free drink. She trotted over to the table and hopped onto one of the chairs.

"Many thanks, I'd happily accept that," she grinned toothily to her before glancing upward, "though I must confess, my helmet is the only shred of armour I carry." She put a hoof to her shoulder. "This tunic is naught but leather, but it's suited me very well all the same!"

Rave felt a little crowded. He noticed Caramel taking seat next to him. He moved a little bit away to make more room for her (and because he was a bit shy). He picked up a few maps from his saddlebag and pretended to be reading intensely, he intended to do so until the drinks arrived. He examined the newcomer through the corner of his eye. "A warrior" he thought. "I can tell through her choice of weapons" he thought.

Caramel noticed Rave moving away from her. Strange pony she thought. She turned her attention back to the stranger : "So what are ye doing here" Caramel asked handing the stranger her drink, Still not knowing her name. She took a sip of her rum, looking around the inn. Looking for more interesting people. Only seeing fisherman and towns people. Guess these two will do for now.

The mare gave the mug a grin before grabbing it in her hoof and taking a hearty swig of cider.

"Aaah~" She sighed, getting some air before answering, "I am a sellsword, travelling across many lands to offer a hoof to anypony in need, as well as to fight as many opponents as possible!"

She put a hoof over her heart, her face practically oozing pride. "I am Tyra Shatterhoof, of the Shatterhoof Clan of the Frozen North!"

Rave lifted his head up by hearing Frozen North. "I've explored that area before and met with the clans there" he thought. He saw that his mug was in front of him. Rave could get easily drunk, so decided that he wouldn't drink too much, but he didn't want to be rude so he took a good swig before putting the mug down, having downed down half of its contents. "My name is Rave Darkmane" he offered, then waited for Caramel to introduce herself.

Wilhelm, meanwhile, was slightly drunk already. To the pony next to him, he was giving a rather long lecture that was beginning to trail off. "Well, you see, there's so much out there...." He gestured with the bottle at the ceiling. "There's nebulae, stars, planets... Hell, there can be more ponies out there with their very own Celestias! Imagine that!" Wilhelm let out a short laugh. "But me... I'm stuck here. Damn earth...even when I fly, I don't get far enough." He experimentally fluttered his wings, knocking over an abandoned drink at a different table. He leaned back in his chair slightly. "But, you know, I'm working on it." Wilhelm grabbed a piece of parchment and began doodling a drawing of a massive engine on it. "You'll need a really large engine....quite the power source. But it'd be worth it." He gave the other pony, who was completely out of it, a crooked smile. "If I learned anything in the Royal Army, it's that the more explosions, the better." He took a swig from his beer.

Caramel looked at Rave for a second and order another round. She knew that Rave would probably take more convincing for joining her crew. Maybe if she could get a view drinks in him, she might be able to get what she wants.

She then looked over at Tyra: "well then, yer exactly the kind of person I'm looking for. My name is Captain Caramel, would ye like to join me crew?''

As she waited for an answer she looked around the inn again for more people. She noticed a very drunk pony lecturing and was interested. But she knew she had to wait for that opportunity since she was still working on the two ponies next to her.

Tyra blinked, considering the offer. From the words 'Captain' and 'Crew' being used, she deduced she was a sailor. The prospect of sailing filled her with an excitement, recalling how her father would let her accompany him on his longboat as a filly. Often on raids to rival ships and clans, but also to visit friendly ones.

"Your crew?" She repeated, taking another swig to half-empty her mug, "Aahh...you are a sailor, I suppose?"

Rave heard the a pony talk about an engine and then heard the mention of royal army. Rave's face went red for a little moment as he got negative thoughts, but managed to cool himself. He finished drinking the rum and then put the mug down. "Thank you for the drink" he said politely. "But it might be time for me to head out" he explained.

"well I'm more of pirate then a sailor and for the looks of it, you'll fit right in. So what do ye say to my offer?'' she told Tyra

Caramel had the feeling she almost convinced her, but she still needed some confirmation. She passed another drink at Tyra and Rave too. He was awfully quite. Maybe she scared him with the word pirate. She was also kinda offended that he didn't want a drink. She was losing him and his interest. What must she do to keep him here?

"Pirates?" Tyra repeated, tilting her head to the side. "You're a great deal nicer than many of the pirates I've come across! Though when I do we tend to just get to fighting." She shrugged, though she wasn't exactly disliking the idea.

The new drink being passed to her was certainly helping Caramel get on her good side, as she took a hearty swig of it.

"So, if I join up with you, what would you ask of me?"

"Well it's obvious that ye like fighting, so that will come in handy, ye can also help with heavy lifting and stuff like that. You seem pretty strong. Maybe help reload the cannons. But most important, keep me company on my long journey's.'' she said to Tyra with a sad face.

Her travels get really lonely sometimes, all alone on the sea. This was the main reason why she needed people for her crew. But she was not admitting that she was lonely. Cause pirates are brave, they don't show fear of loneliness, so they certainly don't feel it.

Rave felt sad when he heard that she needed company on her. He sat down again. "I guess one more drink is alright" he said, offering a kind smile. He took a swig at the mug, than wiping his mouth with his hoof. "Not like the place I need to map down is going to go anywhere" he chuckled.

Tyra's grin faded at Caramel's last reason. Loneliness was indeed a terrible thing, even she got rather homesick on her travels sometimes.

Plus, a chance to use her strength and fighting skills? Perhaps against more marauding pirates, or even some sea monsters!

After another hearty drink of cider, the short mare held out a hoof.

"I have naught else to do in this town my new friend, so you may count me as part of your crew!" She announced, her toothy grin returning.

the doors swung open, and a violet-colored pony swaggered in. she walked up to the bartender. "i want...20 of your best!" she said, as she slammed a decent-sized ruby on the table. she took one, downed it, and wobbled a bit. "woah..." she drunk another one. she locked eyes with some guy. who just so happened to be Rave.  "whatta you lookin at?" she said, as she started wobbling over to him, "ya got a problem?!"

"well then, welcome to me crew!! she said in joy as she put an arm around Tyra's shoulder!

She turned her attention to Rave again, as she was glad he sat down again. He could see his pity for her in his eyes. This was not something she had hoped for. Still, she had his attention again.

"Say since yer pretty good at mapping, maybe yer good at navigating aswell, I know some places where I always wanted to go, maybe ye can help" she asked Rave with another grin on her face.

At that moment, another loud mouth came in. Drinking drink after drink. I'm not paying for that one, caramel thought to herself. When the stranger yelled at Rave, Caramel turned to him and saw a bit of fear in his eyes.

Rave thought about that for a while. "Perhaps, it does sound interesting, however, I have duties here. Duties that must fulfill". He finished his second mug and started to feel a little bit dizzy. He noticed a hostile mare coming towards him. "No problem here, unless you are looking for it". Rave couldn't believe he had just said that, he hoped the mare wouldn't attack or anything.

"Woh Woh Woh everypony, calm down" caramel said with her loud voice "No one is fighting, this is suppose to be a night for celebration. I will not allow this, if yer gonna fight, take it outside" The moment the words came out of her mouth she regretted it. Now they're probably gonna take it outside.

Tyra grinned widely as Caramel embraced her, and she put her own arm around her new companion's shoulder.

"Our combined might will be nothing like the seas have ever seen!" She practically yelled, emptying her mug into her mouth.

She turned her head to the door as the new mare walked in, raising an eyebrow as she stumbled over to their table and picked a fight with the stallion.

"Obviously somepony cannot handle her alcohol," she commented.
