Are the Equestria Girl movies a parody of fanfics?

"All hail the newcomer" attitude, Mary Sue main characters, romance plot worse than Twi... hey wait a second... Anyways, these things are all too familiar for anyone who read a Mary Sue story. So, is EQG actually a troll by Hasbro to make a parody of the fanfics?

Not even close.

1. Merchandise-wise, it's to compete with these:
   
   
   Monster High is owned by Mattel, Hasbro's biggest rival. At the time, MH was really profitable. To compete, Hasbro create this spinoff.
2. Contractually, DHX isn't allowed to use any third-party material to create their works, especially fan creations. If they do and are caught, then the fanfic writer can sue the writer, DHX, and/or Hasbro for plagiarism.
   
   Even so, the writers wouldn't admit to being a parody, anyway. It's equal to giving the audience the finger. As if they don't care. It would drive the fandom away.
3. Being a parody wouldn't make either movie any less bad.

DQ pretty much said it, and really what is the point of making it a parody of fan works? In the end if something is seen as bad, subpar, or average because of certain characteristics doesn't mean it has anything to do with fan works.

I suspect you already know the answer to your own question, and that this thread was created as a way of expressing your personal dislike for the Equestria Girls movies.
