Which moments do you think REALLY

crossed the line of MLPFIM being a

show thats rated TV Y? I am aware that

the show nerfs itself sometimes for the

sake of the audience (particulary the pie

fight between the buffalo and appleloosians

in "over a barrel". But there have been

many moments where it would have made the

show be given a TVY7 rating.

I think we may all be thinking about the big

fight between twilight and tirek. I mean, it was

quite epic (but Aang vs Ozai will always be my

#1! :D) but seriously, I wonder how all those

little girls reacted. Fo goodness sake, there

were so many explosions in there that would

have made Micheal Bay proud and youre

telling me not ONE parent complained? It's

suprising how much this show is getting away

with.

What else do you think adds to this?

Theconditioning scene In s5 episode 1/2 was very mature, somthing i dont think parents or young kids would have liked....

But honestly the finale, was pretty But it wasn't mature, there was fighting and explosion But they weren't dealing with a extremely dark story.

I have to agree with Frozen. The premier last week was pushing very hard on that line.

According to the FCC, the TV-Y rating means "This program is designed to be appropriate for children of all ages. The thematic elements portrayed in this program are specifically designed for a very young audience of children ages 2–6. This program will not frighten young children".

I'll leave you to judge how closely does MLP FiM meet that criteria. I also wonder how does the FCC enforce ratings, do they have people who review programs to ensure that they comply with rating guidelines?

All of Lesson Zero clearly pushes the TV Y7 rating.

Seriously Twilight's psychotic breakdown while absolutely hilarious can get downright chilling (and gave great nightmare fuel for the kids) and not something you would expect to see from a show like MLP FIM.

I dont think so

we had ren and stimpy

and courage the cowardly doge

But it definitely pushes the Y rating.

How did little girls react to that? Seriously? :o

The scene inside the spa in S5E3 were Bulk Biceps picks Spike up with his pecks had a very 'Ren & Stimpy' vibe to it.

The show definitely draws a lot of it's comedy from more mature sources. Applejack suggestively wiping apple juice off her chin is another example that has already been mentioned.

Also this. ^_^

I know it's supposed to be she's giving it a message, but she's still snapping the poor thing's neck! Don't try this at home kids..

A lot of the action/ fighting scenes and some humor more appreciated by grown up than kids.

Sometimes I wish they'd change the rating, but who ever heard of a chow changing it's rating?

I still kinda think this is pushing the line.

Changing the rating of a show does happen quite frequently, but usually it's for specific episodes, though series-wide rating changes have occurred. For example, a show called Wizards of Waverly Place once had a TV-PG episode instead of TV-G like normal, and Breaking Bad has had both TV-14 and TV-MA episodes. As for series-wide changes, The Walking Dead was changed from TV-14 to TV-MA after the Parent Television Council complained.

However, I don't think this show needs to be TV-Y7. Sure, there are a few moments that push the limits a little for TV-Y, but most are played for laughs and I doubt they would scare many young children. The moments I'd say have the most chance of startling young children are Fluttershy "snapping" that bear's neck and Twilight going crazy. The other moments are moments that I consider to be not very frightening, or are moments that would require background knowledge to understand why they're pushing the limits, which wouldn't matter.

^ Okay...I guess you have a good point.

All I really want is for them to admit about Ma and Pa Apple. I don't even need the details, I just want them admit they existed at some point and then died. Not to mention how Celestia has outlived countless subjects and/or the elephant in the room regarding the Other 5...

Three episodes come to mind: Princess Twilight Sparkle Part 2, Twilight's Kingdom Part 2, and The Cutie Map Parts 1 & 2.

PTSP2 for the scene where Twilight cries over Princess Celestia's unconscious body after she is knocked out of the sky by Nightmare Moon. To me, this implies that Twilight thought she was dead. It's definitely the saddest scene in the series; it made me tear up, which is saying something.

TKP2 because of the fight scene between Twilight and Tirek. It looked like something out of Dragon Ball Z, and was a little bit on the iffy side for a little girl's show.

TCMP1&2 because of themes of communism and brainwashing.

I think we shouldn't separate boy and girl shows to need different ratings but by age.

What do you mean? TV-Y applies to shows "for" boys and girls.

Some on made a comment that suggest that there is or should be a difference.
