Summer at Sweet Apple Acres

It's been some time since I drew a picture with Applejack. So I had to make one.

I want to add more but the picture would only get messy then. I might do a follow up on this since... the paper was to small. :squee:

Is it just me or does that ball steal all the attention?

yes, there is a difference between 8bit and 16bit mode.

( i am just gonna assume here that you do not know how colors are mixed.no offense if you do)

(also, if you dont care about that stuff, just read the text in fat)

A .JPEG File( or any Bitmap file) saves colors using 3 Channels that represent Red,Green and Blue.

Depending on how much red, green and blue there is for any given pixel in the bitmap, the color of that pixel will change.

Usually, the standard is 8bit. that means that you have 256 possible states of for any of the channels.

If you calcule 256 x 256 x256, the outcome is 16777216 or something, which is the amount of different colors that can be displayed  on that bitmap.

In 16 bit, you have a LOT more avaliable colors, obviously

Even though that is already way more than the human eye can differentiate, there are times where it is actually not enough:

For extremely large canvases, you might run into trouble using gradients when on 8bit, since the amount of displayable colors is not enough in 8bit mode.In 16bit mode, you have more avaliable colors, which gives you nicer gradients.

Hopefully, that helped^^

Nice picture, by the way :)

Thanks!

I figured it would be somewhat the same as with sound quality. Higher = more.

So I let it be finished now, could probably draw forever if I don't stop here.

Anyway, I would like some comments, critique would be fun too. ;)
