gaming The death of arcades

Remember when arcades were a thing? You could walk into one and play a wide variety of games on machines. Back in the day, the arcade versions of games where considered the definitive version. 

My question is, why has the arcade all but died out?

I remember when I went to my local pizza place and they had two machines I played the hell out of... Donkey Kong, and Tetris.

 

What answer do you want? Consoles Advancing, Online Gaming, PC Gaming, Portable Gaming...

 

What I like is I can still go down to that pizza place and they are selling the Tetris machine, must buy

There's little reason for arcades to exist anymore. Whatever social aspect they might have had is overshadowed by online interactions. Consoles can also play the same between arcade fightsticks and lightguns being available. And now microtransactions are only optional instead of being required.

 

Arcades are going extinct because they are all but obsolete.
