How do you feel about playboy doing an article on bronies?

I skimmed, but the article ultimately came off as less cynical than *I* can be towards the fandom. x3  In case anyone's on the fence about reading it, it focused only very, very briefly on anything sexy in nature.  If you're offended by three sentences of sexy poneh, don't read.  If you're offended that there were only three sentences devoted to sexy poneh, don't read. xD

Positive and generally good even if it's written by someone who works for something like playboy. That is probably the biggest ding but it still impressed me with how positive it portrayed bronies

To be honest, I'm more surprised that it took them this long to do it if they were going to do it at all. Rather late to the party. Regardless, it was refreshing to see that they, a giant in the smut industry, didn't denigrate the fandom with insults and accusations of being sexually repressed, something I've seen quite a bit over the years from ordinary trolls. Possibly not the best article I've read by a bewildered outsider come to see a freakshow, but refreshingly favorable. I respect what they've done.

Check out the next to the last picture in the article:

That guy in the blue shirt on the far right is Feld0. Thought some of you might find that amusing ;)

I am a bit surprised they didn't talk more about clopping but I think that would probably be more appropriate for a separate article. Overall a fairly decent article though I am afraid due to Playboy's reputation as being a porn magazine will cause certain people to not take it seriously though most of those people wouldn't be convinced of bronies being anything other than devil spawn anyway.

What a wonderful article. Sounds like the writer came to the con expecting to make fun of just another nerdy fandom, but did a total 180 when he met some of the bronies there and discovered what we're really all about. That's really encouraging.  :)

It doesn't matter who really writes the article; just as long as the content isn't demeaning to anyone.

In any case the article has shown to be fairly positive, so I have no issues with it. :)

I wanted to post it a while ago, but I didn't wanted a potential warning because, while I haven't seen NSFW stuff there, adv might vary, and it might show NSFW stuff for some people. Regardless, I approve the article, while it's still evident the skepticism, it was very positive the point of view of the writer, AND FROM PLAYBOY NO LESS  :yay:

Why would that be an issue? From what I can tell playboy does very good articles. Is where the whole "I read it for the articles" joke came from. Got a pretty good reputation.

(Also anybody who doesn't read playboy because they think anything in it is sexual is probably not going to notice this anyway. So no bad vibe issues here >.<)
Also read ages ago, pretty nice article.

Playboy is actually illegal here so I don't think it would look well even if the article is fine :(

Lmao where you live? O_o

The all so lovely country of Malaysia

Huh. Had no idea.

Least they're pretty crap at blocking the stuff (Online at least) xD

To be honest, I hesitated to click the link because my first mental image of something from Playboy is well...something NSFW, but a few minutes later I went "screw it" and clicked it anyways.

I found this article to have some really positive stuff and to be really enjoyable to read, and I have to say that watching a show about magical pastel colored ponies learning about friendship and joining this amazing Brony fandom has made me, on the contrary to the stereotypes, more masculine, and more mature.

I giggled when I saw myself in the first picture, with the singing circle.

Got excited to see my friends getting interviewed.

Then getting around to reading the article, I was profoundly surprised to see that Playboy- fairly far from anything remotely pony related, had any interest to have someone attend the con. Reading the first few paragraphs, I partly expected the writer to be skeptical and to inevitably make fun of the brony community. I was pleased though, that he had a changed perspective on what a brony is after the experience. The fact that the show and the fandom is more than what it appears is what pulled me in- and it was what he got. To have someone who would have otherwise made fun of the community see it in a different, positive light makes me happy.

I think it's pretty good considering it's more of a fluff piece for playboy. Playboy generally tends to be one of the more liberal skin mags, so they've probably got more people on staff with a more open mind willing to check out a MLP convention. I think it was pretty accurate article for the most part, and talked about the different people in the fandom. Most people only talk about the guy bronies, and usually forget about the lady bronies, but I'm happy they included some female bronies in the article.
I've had a very good experience with the fandom. I've been in many fandoms throughout my life, and I use to believe that Trekkie's were the nicest, but they don't even compare to Bronies. I think it's an overall good fandom because just like the show, the fandom still makes us feel valuable even if we are different or awkward.I can't say that the other fandoms I was in had many people that tried to follow the core tenets of the show, unlike bronies who tend to live by the 'love and tolerate' rule.

Its thoughtful but with a good play of humor of how a guy who is not into ponies gives

a fair break down of what he sees and feels in the CON.  They did a good job over all

in defining the "bronies"   and making us look like we are sexed up grown ups liking

a kids show.   In showing the more real positive traits of this fandom and how it has

effect peoples/fans life overall
