Should there be a Brony shoutout in The Big Bang Theory?

TBBT is my favourite live-action show and is a show that is largely a parody of geek culture. I think the Brony community has enough presence now in geek culture that it should be referenced in TBBT. Maybe a scene where Howard walks in to Raj watching MLP, mocks him, then by the end Howard has enjoyed himself but refuses to admit it.

For a second I thought this was legit. The thread title should've reflected that it hasn't happened yet.

And yes, I think we're a bit overdue for that, but I don't think they reference cartoons all that often in that show. The last I heard them reference a cartoon was SpongeBob. But, since people who don't normally watch cartoons love MLP, I wouldn't rule it out on that just yet.

Their specialties seem to be Star Wars/Trek, Marvel/DC, Indiana Jones and Doctor Who. They have actually referrenced MLP, but due to Penny collecting the toys and this was in 2007/08 so nothing to do with Bronies.

Given some other cartoons such as Teen Titans did a shout out to the MLP (Butterface) it

would be nice to have some Bang love.  :P

I don't feel that TBBT is too in touch with geek culture beyond the biggest of the mainstream references. MLP doesn't exactly make that cut. We're not widely accepted enough yet.

How about flipping it? What if MLP had a brief appearance by a Sheldon like pony, voiced by Jim Parsons? He could be the chief engineer at the weather factory or something. Maybe even have him in a very awkward relationship with Maud Pie.

*Knock Knock Knock*

"Maud!"

*Knock Knock Knock*

"Maud!"

*Knock Knock Knock*

"Maud!"

To be honest I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. The show tends to reference almost anything nerdy and whatnot. In fact I was almost certain they mentioned bronies before...but yeah I think it'd be pretty cool if they did! My ears always perk up when I hear references to us. It's just cool to hear. :3

Why does anyone care?

Seriously, would it increase your happiness that much if some show said "HEY YOU EXIST""

It would really be fun if Sheldon was a Brony. So yes, I guess that would increase my happiness levels. I see nothing wrong with that. I would laugh my butt off if they included a Sheldon like pony in an episode of MLP, too!

Because it would be cool to see a show reference our favorite fandom!

This would also be cool. I'm down for either.

Fellow bronies and pegasisters and my little pony fans. If the show The Big Bang Theory referenced My Little Pony, then that would somehow have the concept be devided by zero, then the universe would implode, causing a rip through the space time continuum, causing an intergalactic battle of epic proportions. Galactic Proportions!

There's too much science to add non science. The limitless guy showing up saying "I used to be slightly smarter than average, but unmotivated. Thanks to NZT-49, I have a four digit IQ". Then Sheldon Cooper staring jealously saying "give me some, it's mine" then it would work. It might work for a Harry Potter movie though. excelsior pony, er I mean, protronum.

I would be interested to see that. Would be pretty awesome if Sheldon was revealed to be a closet brony.

Nope, nope nope.  I guarentee that Sheldon would be anti-MLP, not because he would have any problem with guys liking it, per se, but because he would say that horses are terrifying, and/or the colors are cacophonous assault on the eyeballs.  Doesn't that sound like him?

No, Raj is the one that should be a brony.  I mean, duh.  They're always poking fun at him for being effeminate.  But they've also done a great job of showing that it's fine to be like that.  Just like how they poke fun at nerds, but also make it cool to be a nerd.  I really, really, think they should have Raj be a brony.  They probably won't, but I wish they would.  I've always been impressed with how in-touch they are with nerdy stuff, and how accurate they're references are.  This seems like something that needs to happen, imo.

I actually wonder if Sheldon would have a problem with boys liking it. He always seems to be influenced by "social convention" and (granted it was season 1) it's been pointed out he's misogynistic.

He often attempts to conform to social convention because he doesn't know how to navigate social situations, but he usually doesn't know what the accepted social convention is until someone tells him.  He comes off as misogynistic to others, but he really isn't.  Sometimes it sounds like he's putting women beneath men, but in reality he's just putting everyone, male or female, beneath him intellectually.  Leslie Winkle will say that he's misogynistic, but he's just anti-Leslie because he doesn't respect her work.  It just so happens that she's female.  It doesn't make any difference to him what sex a person is.  He's fair in that he just doesn't respect most people in general.  But if he respects the work, then he respect the individual, like Dr. Elizabeth Plimpton.  As for all the times he has said something offensive about women, such as an insensitive remark about their periods, he doesn't think he's being offensive.  He's just being technical and accurate.  Either that, or he attempts to talk like others, or use some sort of slang, but fails and comes off as offensive.  This is just because of his social awkwardness.  Again, he's not trying to be offensive.  Kind of like Michael Scott, but in a different way.  I don't think they'd have Sheldon be anti-brony.  At least, not for that reason.

Eh; I could live without it personally. I have nothing against the show, but it just feels so tired and exhausted at this point. Granted I wasn't the biggest  fan of it, but even then...meh.

OMG, I just thought of something. Would Sheldon be able to get past the idea of Princess Celestia raising and lowering the sun? I can picture him writing very angry letters to Hasbro explaining how it should be portrayed. I think he would also have problems with Twilight teleporting, or using magic to travel through time.

NO PLEASE NO! I honestly can't stand that stupid show. Its the same people who made "Two and a half men" its not funny and not genius!.

If people want stuff that is about weird people doing science, then just watch "Stein's Gate".

As for bronyhood. I am glad it exists for people in general who are into it for various reasons :)
