Spree! You know you're buds with two Wiccans, right? Just shoot me a message.

Anyways, while I'm here...

Christians have a bible, and so generally, all the sects of Christianity generally agree on the same things. Generally. When it comes to Wicca, however, there is no one right or universal text. So, with that said, no two Wiccans believe in the same exact things.

As an eclectic, solitary practitioner, that's the beautiful part of the religion. You don't have people telling you that you have to do this, or that you have to be that. You can be whoever you want to be. Now, there are covens, or, groups of practitioners, that do follow a list of rules and beliefs within their group. These groups can vary greatly from another, and I've heard instances where coven members don't agree with the ways of solitary or eclectic practitioners. That's just how things go- sometimes, different sects of Christianity bash, and this is essentially the same thing.

From my perspective, Wicca is a religion where you celebrate, study, and enhance life. I do this by observing the wheel of the year, which is the quarters and cross quarters of the year. Each one expresses a phase in life- take Estara for example. Estara is the spring equinox, which means that day and night are equal- if there is any area of my life that seems unstable, I'd be focusing on that aspect. There's eight sabats, or, these days that fall on the quarters and cross quarters, that I observe. I also do the practice of doing rituals as needed. *new paragraph*

I do rituals, and, during these rituals, I take time to meditate, cast spells, use divination, and just get in touch with nature and the universe. Spell work is a whole, essay to try and explain- but you're right. It's not anything like Harry Potter. To me, a spell is an action you take as you send a prayer to the universe, in hopes that what you're praying for will manifest. A spell can be anything- cooking is one medium many witches use for spellwork. Cleaning a room up could be considered a spell. A spell could be burning a piece of paper with someone who's been harassing you's name on it, so as to stop the harassment. I think of showers as a spell, even- I'm cleansing myself and starting anew. The sky's the limit. However- many Wiccans believe in the three-fold law, which to summarize, means that whatever you put out into the universe comes back at you three times as much. Karma, essentially. You'll very unlikely meet a Wiccan who does spells to harm others because of this.

While I don't believe in covens, as I reject the idea that individuals should believe in the same exact things, I can set you up with some links and stuff. And you can always hit me up if you have any specific questions :)

Hi there!

I have been Wiccan for ... I honestly have no idea how long? @Pepper_Mint may have already mentioned some of this, but I couldn't stay focused for whole post (sorru). First, you might learn about the Wiccan holidays. Every religion has sacred days and learning about (or celebrating!) them gives insight into the history and beliefs of the faith.

After that, perhaps watch YouTube? It sounds a bit stupid, but since anyone can post to YouTube, you can directly see followers (rather than experts) and what Wicca means to them. To reitterate, watch videos by Wiccans, not just about Wiccans.

Ultimately, there will be many branches of any given faith, so you may want to simplify Wicca down to it's most basic elements. As Pepper Mint said, this will differ somewhat from follower to follower, so it's best you explore the religion rather than take another's word.

... An it harm none, do what ye will!
