Alright looks like I'm about to make a prediction here and now:  Either Rainbow and Tank are gonna make a heartfelt goodbye... ...or Tank's gonna die, South Park style like they did with Kenny in Season 5. This could be like Stand by Me Doraemon or that downer ending from Paco and the Magical Book which when the titular character dies at the end. You know I have seen that movie, I had it on Blu-ray, gotta say it is a good Japanese movie.

This could also turn out to be a rather emotional episode. If there's one thing Cindy Morrow seems to be good at in writing, is capturing the perfect emotional tone as seen in Hurricane Fluttershy.

I don't normally comment on episode preview clips or give my thoughts on the episode before it airs, but it seems this one might be tapping into the anger and PTSD territory for me. I am also getting vibes of "Rambo: First Blood" (the PTSD scene, not the gore) when I watch the clip for some reason.

 

Let's hope the episode doesn't put me to the test too much tonight.

When I first read the synopsis for this episode I was expecting something sad...and I could still see it taking an emotional turn, but man! That clip has me busting a gut over here! Pinkie using baby talk on Tank, RD's angry outburst, the whole "don't say that word!" thing (as someone with ocd who has "trigger words" that I often find myself avoiding that scene cracked me up on a personal level - hey if you can't laugh at yourself?) I seriously can't wait for this episode now. Also: RD wins best face!

I think Rainbow's "not angry" anger is a thin veneer to hide the fact that she's very close to crying over Tank's need to, uh, the "H" word. Also, is it my imagination, or is Tank a little bigger than in his first appearance?

That clip is awesome, and I knew right away that an anger meme was inevitable, though I'm surprised at how quickly that happened. Maybe I should stop underestimating the Internet. On the other hand, I do have my concerns about this episode. Why is hibernation such a big deal? It's not like Tank is dying or anything. I know Rainbowdash is all about speed, and is hardly the type to be patient about waiting for Tank to come out of hibernation in spring, but I'm not sure what the audience is supposed to relate to. I guess I'll have to find out tomorrow. At the very least I expect a reasonably entertaining episode.

True. I guess that would be an especially long period of time for kids, so perhaps there's a life lesson in there about patience or something. I guess Tank is the only pet character that hibernates, not that I know that much about rabbits, owls or alligators. Heck, I didn't even know tortoises hibernate. Now that you mention it, that would mean 4-5 months when the rest of the mane six can spend time with their pets while Rainbowdash can't. That might be part of it.
