Should RD face any consequences for her actions in ep 5?

At the very least a small fine and community service should be in order here...but we know it won't happen. There were no consequences for Discord after his betrayal either but at least he genuinely apologized (and apparently that makes everything a-okay) Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think RD even did that much? I mean, she practically blew up the entire factory and put everypony in serious danger but we don't even get a "sorry" from her? Oh Dashie. Still loved the episode though!

i wouldnt put it past either. i think she get at least some form of punishment. it would be completely unrealistic if she didnt. then again it IS a cartoon, we passed unrealistic like 4 seasons ago.

She'll probably get punished off screen, but I did find what she did to be rather crazy and dangerous all to stop winter from coming. I wouldn't have gone that far if I was her, but she really didn't want Tank to hibernate so I guess she had her reasons. Still she'll most likely be punished off screen.

I think Rainbow Dash should be punished to the full extent of the law! 6,000 bit fine, pay for all the damages, 10 years of Community Service, 6 years of imprisonment or at least house arrest, mandatory therapy and anger management, temporary if not permanent banishment/exile from Cloudsdale, job suspension if not completely fired, mandatory re-attendance of school biology and life science, and fully pay the medical bills of any injured.

I think what they do is the third option for that kind of action; its only fair she learns her lesson. If she was so selfish that she had to do that, she deserves any punishment they give her.

Idunno.  What punishment did Twilight receive for making all of Ponyville fall in love with a doll and fight each other tooth and hoof over it?  What about Rarity when Spike gave her that book in "Inspiration Manifestation?" :/  How about Spike when he ran around Ponyville committing numerous thefts, ponynapped Rarity, and wrongfully imprisoned the Wonderbolts? xD  It's funny, but...  I don't recall calling for any of them to be punished for their actions.  I didn't watch "Lesson Zero" and then turn around and demand that there be consequences; I just enjoyed the episode.

 

Get over it.  Or go watch Game of Thrones (we got a reference this episode, it applies) where people cripple children because they were caught having relations with their evil, power hungry sister... 

And are then ultimately embraced as a "good guy" because they begin to think they maybe might have been going about things the wrong way.

 

 

This episode taught me (or confirmed) three important things:

1.) Tough ponies cry the hardest.

2.) Rainbow <3 Tank.

3.) Don't fuck with Rainbow Dash. O_O

^ She didn't want to part with Tank.  And, while she went about things the wrong way, she was motivated by the affection she had for her reptilian friend.  Just imagine what a pony like Rainbow could've done had she been motivated by darker things.

 

And let's measure the events of this episode against all the good Rainbow's done.  No?  Saving the lives of several ponies and helping to save the world multiple times counts for nothing?  Do you hold everypony else to the same standard you hold RD?

Seeing as it's a cartoon, all the damage she did will get swept under the rug, never to be mentioned again. Realistically however, the destruction of the weather factory, lost/wasted resources, potential harm to factory workers and ponyville citizens alike among other things could have potentially gotten her a hefty jail sentence, with only a quick intervention of Twilight/Celestia/both knocking it down to the third option of a huge fine, suspension and community service fixing the damages.

I don't even know if the other five of the Mane Six even know that she was the one who did this. They know that she was involved somewhat. But, I don't think anyone knows whether or not she was the culprit , I think Dash realizes deep down that she shouldn't have done what she did, it's just saying "Sorry" isn't something Dash does, on most occasions. But, I truly think she learned a valuable lesson.

an apology shouldn't automatically excuse the damages done. Sunset Shimmer's apology was genuine, but yet, she still had to rebuild CHS

and yet none of the Mane 6 (or even reformed villains like NMM or Discord) have to face repercussions when they eff something up.

She had no intention of causing such madness, she just wanted a simple, albeit even stupid friendship problem. And her punishment was the following scene were Celestia spoke her name, bright light flashed, everything was solved, and Twilight thought Celestia was gonna scold her to kingdom come, she felt remorse, then her friends stepped in to apologize for her and Celestia din't go so hard on her. Fitting punishment? Maybe, maybe not.

You can't blame Spike for being ignorant to what some random spell book does, he's not the first person i think of when i figure someone well versed in magic/spell books. He figured it was just a simple spell book to help Rarity, he had no idea it would inadvertently possess her, and turn her into one of the most op beings ever conceived by Gen4.

He can't be held responsible for his Dragon instincts, which he clearly couldn't control until the last second when he became conscious of what he had most likely become, and thus reverting to his normal size. It's like blaming a cat for having claws. He did however, acknowledge the damage he did. 

 

My point is Rainbow indented to do what she did, and din't give a flying fuck about the repercussions.

Hell, it was even in her song.

Not only does she understand that it's wrong, but she doesn't even care. And what makes this ever more odd is that she only thinks 'hey it's just weather', this is weird for a pagasus who should understand the impact of weather, especially when shes the one who was leading the team to make sure winter came around the year before in Winter Wrapup. 

 

We've seen the ponies do stupid shit before, but something about her lack of empathy towards those that could've been hurt by her madness rubbed me the wrong way this go around, and you know me Ziggy, im pretty lenient on episodes because it's just a show. I admit tho, i found Rainbow's tunnel vision determination to stop a turtle from sleeping quite the feat. 

Blah...but when i see this face, perhaps that it was a inevitability she would give no fucks..

Absolutely. Prison? I don't think so. Aside from the damage to the weather factory, it didn't end up being all that bad; winter just arrived a bit more forcefully than usual. But it could have been much, much worse, and she needs to know that kind of behavior isn't acceptable.
