Hey all, I'm back with a new song! This was the result of me attempting to make a house track, as I've never successfully made one before. While I'm not sure if I succeeded or not, I will say that I think the song turned out alright nonetheless. Please, tell me what you think!

I have no idea what is going on here, but it was pleasant to listen to! I've never seen music made with this sort of program, I gotta say I'm impressed:P

Thanks! I'm glad you think it sounds good!

This is what's called a tracker (and the specific program you're seeing is 0CCFamiTracker, a fork of FamiTracker which adds stuff not in the original. It makes NES/Famicom music; think Mega Man 1-6 or the first 3 Super Mario Bros. games.) Think of it as a scrolling note sheet; where ever you place a note, it plays it. The top right corner box is where instruments go, which are necessary to play any notes. The left is the patterns you're seeing in the tracker feed that's scrolling down as it's played. There's a lot to cover that I could explain, but I don't want to turn this into a large block of text. You can get a good idea of what's what in this linked video if you pause it in the first few seconds where the explanation is.

I will admit, it's a bit confusing looking at it blind, but as with any program, it's actually much easier to use than it seems. If either of you want to try out 0CCft or regular FamiTracker (for some reason), I'll link them here (0CCft) and here (FT). (For the 0CCft link, just find the newest thread and click "Download". For FT, you'll want the one that says "Binary".)

Wow! That sounds really complicated, haha! I'll have to look more into it! Is the main panel thing set up in a keyboard function?

It's really not all that complicated, especially when you get the hang of it. Then again, that's to be said of most any program with a little learning curve. And yeah, you put in notes and effects by keyboard, but I think you might be able to do most of that by a MIDI keyboard or controller of some kind also. I may be wrong, though, never used one of those myself.

I also should probably link a tutorial just in case. It's a bit old (I believe the version being used in the video is 0.3.6, and the current versions are 0.3.9 for 0CCft and 0.4.6 for vanilla FT) but it still covers a lot of the basics that you'll need to know.

Ahh, that makes sense. I have a midi keyboard. Maybe I can try using that. :) Thanks for all your help and links! :)
