It's true - following the success of the past couple of revival movies, Dragon Ball is getting a new TV series to follow up from post-Buu arc.

 

The new series will premier in July of this year.

 

It looks like it kind of retcons the love-or-hate series GT, and is more based off of plots from Toriyama. Either way, there's just something about DBZ that I love, and even if there are much completely random without any leading up to transformations thrown in I'll probably still be all over it. xD

It's too early to say if this series conflicts with anything that occurs in GT(given that it takes place much earlier than that), but Battle of Gods and the recent Resurrection F film essentially already went and retconned it anyway, considering all the power boosts and lore expanding Toei and Toriyama himself made with them.

I do hope to see this come soon. I've honestly knew about this for a while, but it's nice to see this topic up. I'll admit, I didn't expect it to properly continue after the buu saga but it seem there are still ideas around.

 

I just am not a big fan of GT. There is very little I liked from it.

We will see. IDK if they will apply the time patrollers plot. But if they do, it would be a good segway into the game and vise versa. It's still too early to judge if that will be the case though, but it may or may not happen.

I'll agree with you there. The significance of the Super Saiyan has been severely watered down. When Goku and Vegeta both turned super saiyan the first time, that was something awesome to see. Hell, Gohan turning Super Saiyan 2 was awesome. After that though... it kinda stopped being as awesome. Yeah the Super Saiyan 3 theme is awesome and all but it was shared upon those who transformed into one. No two people had a different Super Saiyan 3 theme.

Yeah, I'll defiantly agree there. It just seems they are recycling old transformation names and splicing them into the Super Saiyan God form. It's just getting so uncreative. At least GT showed the other forms of a super saiyan before jumping to Super Saiyan 4.

I can respect that. The plot of good verses evil is a generally stright forward kinda thing. It's just one of those things that when you look into the show itself, when it comes to forms, power levels, and the usage of ki or whatnot. It can get into conversations about which forms are better, what watered down this. It's all kinda something where whether you are a casual fan are dedicated fan. Either way, it's a great series to watch.

Im all fine and dandy about new Dragon Ball stuff. What im not too found of is so far most of these 'new' aspects are just reskins or revisions of old.

 

Look at the last movie, Fukkatsu No F. They bring back Frieza...again. This is his 3rd time being a canon villain, and the 5th if you count the other movies he's made a appearance in(tho small tbh).

 

 

Than theres the glaring new form similarities.

I will always be a fan, but i feel like things are just going around in another big circle.

And the prospect opened up by BoG and their being other universe, does that mean we will see SSGSS Goku vs Perfect Cell from another universe? Then a different Buu? The inevitable SSGSS3? SSGSS Vegito/Gogeta? Fucking LSSGSS Broly??

Im not afraid to admit DB as a whole might be beyond it's prime, especially since the only thing new it can do is give us a blue SSJ and 2 new admittedly interesting charasters (Beerus&Whis).

Okay , BoG was fairly different, and it's been a dang long time since we've seen Goku training under anyone, Vegeta's never trained under anyone that i can remember.

But, will the new outweigh all the recolored and reused for the fans? Only time will tell.

I'll wait and see what the general opinion of this is before checking it out myself. I got bored of DBZ during the Buu saga and never got around to finishing it. Team Four Star's DBZA is way better anyway.
