So I Made a Poem for my Creative Writing Class...

So, recently, I have been enrolled in a creative writing class. Its been a dream come true for me, I've always wanted to take one but never been able to until now.

In class, we have gotten to the poetry section. We've gone through certain poemn types like villanelle and others, which I had a difficult time with. But now, we've gotten to the ballad poem, which I'm enjoying immensely. I've written one, which I'm to turn in, and I would like opinions on it. It is due tomorrow evenine, so I may not be able to make too many changes based on observations here before then, but I would love your feedback.

Now, as a warning, there are a couple words here that people might not like, so I'll just throw that out there now and get it out of the way.

And I know the third stanza doesn't exactly rhyme, but I couldn't think of anything better to put there.

So, without further ado, here we go.

Ballad of the Brony

They sit down to enjoy their show,

completely brave and bold.

They really love to watch this show,

it just never gets old.

The show may never get too old,

even though they may be,

for the show is for little girls,

it's My Little Pony.

They sit alone inside houses,

or sometimes with the guys,

knowing the show is made for girls,

and not for grown-up boys.

But they have a feeling inside,

now just what could it be?

Why, its a feeling of true joy,

makes them really happy.

The show makes those who watch it just

happy, as you can see.

But others claim to see the guys

as just downright creepy.

Pedophiles and faggots

are what these men are called,

but there are even more worse names,

of which you'd be appalled.

Their friends and even families

don't seem to understand.

All explanations are ignored,

leaving them with this brand.

The world has shunned all of these men

just cause they watch the show.

They give them hate and tell them all

that hell is where to go.

But all is not horrid for them.

There is a lot of good.

Some incredible things come from

the life of Bronyhood.

Inside this great big fandom here,

there's much diversity.

Some of them like to work from home,

others loin the army.

The music they create is cool,

new stuff released each day.

Which genre will the next song be?

Its really hard to say.

Art is a strongpoint of theirs, too.

Some cute and cuddly,

although there are incredible

pieces you have to see.

If its stories you want to read,

fanfiction exists here,

thousands of stories to bring grins

or even shed some tears.

Animation comes out, too,

a lot of views it brings.

Many music videos out

and silly little things.

Some of them create awesome mods

or even full fledged games.

If you ask a Brony right now,

you'll get a couple names.

And Bronies love to donate cash

to any charity.

So many people have been helped

by some thoughtful Bronies.

The fans are incredibly nice,

they don't like to be mean.

(But when one is attacked outright,

no mercy will be seen.)

If you are confused about what you

have just read or seen.

just let a few of them suggest

a documentary.

And yes, there are a few bad eggs

that come out from the group,

but not every one of these guys

throws them all for a loop.

These men sit to enjoy their show

and watch the movies, too,

and hope that the world will one day

accept all that they do.

So, id love to hear what you guys think, and I apologize about the word choice in the sixth stanza there, I just wanted to get a point across.

You know what? I rather enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing your work with us. Now don't take this the wrong way, but I smiled when imagining Zecora reciting your poem.

thank you. I always enjoy sharing my stuff like this, even if its homework.

And I find it entertaining you imagined Zecora reciting this. Now I'll never be able to get that out of my head. XD

So I've finally turned it in. My teacher was rather surprised at the length. I believe he was expecting student to put forth poems that were only a few stanzas long. Now I just have to wait until next wenedsday to hear his and my peers' take on it and then be able to ask if it would be decent enough for the school's literary magazine.
