For some reason:

1. Despite mentioning the possibility of uploading an avatar, the avatar selection mechanism does not in fact, offer this option.

2. The URL import function also declares anything I put into it to be "too large", even though the image is below the limits.

I was only trying to use this particular image of Trixie being Trixie (of course, who doesn't love Trixie?)

Once you you've made five posts outside of the welcoming area and Cloudsdale Colosseum you'll be able to upload an avatar.

Like the previous people said, you need to post at least 5 posts in threads outside of the Welcoming Plaza and Cloudsdale Colosseum.

Don't expect any kind of avatar to work until you have made 5 fully counted posts.
