Can one truly quantify love? Is it something that can be measured, compared, set against other things in an empirical manner? Or is it simply a concept that we each choose to define the way we see it in our hearts?

No, it's definitely measurable and comparable.

For example, my love for my favorite shirt is 2 Quarts, and my love for my 3DS is 12.5 Gallons, and my love for Trixie is 2 Cubic Tons. Love is, indeed, something that can be measured.
