From Wikipedia:

"Nicole Oliver, Michelle Creber, Tara Strong, John de Lancie and James Wootton have all confirmed that the third season is currently in production. The new season will start with the introduction of a new element of harmony.

Dosent this mean that there will be a new pony? Im confused...

Damn, I actually hope this is a fake.

If they were to introduce a new Element Of Harmony now it would mess things up for me. I mean, the Mane 6 went through 2 seasons without this other element and for a new pony to just waltz into the show and join the Mane 6 after I have seen them grow from season 1 to 2, it would boil my blood. However, it could be Celestia or Luna controlling a new element and if there is a new element I'd say its love or the embodiment of friendship.

This. Someone could have edited it (like they did earlier saying Season 3 was canceled). I'd wait a few days and see if it changes. Of course if it is real, that would be quite interesting and i can't wait to see what they do with it It could sorta mess things up though i think.

I've grown used to the mane 6 being, well, the mane 6. If they added in another main character, I'd probably be pretty annoyed, unless that character is good enough to win me over.

I'd welcome this new element, but there have to be some ground rules:
It has to be controlled by a pony we already know (Big Mac, Cheerilee, etc), and they have to spend a few episodes building up to it (i'd say about 3-4+, it'd be cheap and lazy if it were introduced in one episode.

Maybe it could be the element of curiosity, wielded by the Cutie Mark Crusaders

Introducing a new character, even after multiple episodes, would only end in disaster. This is either entirely made up, or less likely, a new element that is the collection of the other 6, in some sort of combined form.

I would hope that this is fake, a new element is not needed at all. We've seen the mane six grow so much through these two seasons, another element wouldn't fit at all. If they were to introduce a new pony and a new element then they would have to make it a convincing story to say the least. It would have to fit ALL there lore we've had so far and I bet that would be a hard twist to make, they would need some brilliant concept for a plot to pull this one off.

Overall, I wouldn't mind it if they were able to make it convincing, but I would.prefer if they didn't even try. It's really not needed.

They would basically have to explain why this new element wasn't there during all the trouble they've fought through so far, plus they would need a darn good excuse why Celestia didn't tell Twilight about this before.

Going with everyone else here in that this is probably fake. Not just because this is Wikipedia (not exactly the most reliable source of information) but from a writing perspective. Introducing new characters into a show isn't new, but those are usually one-off characters or minor background characters like with Shining Armor or Cranky. If a new element were to show up, they would more than likely have to become an important part of the show and after two seasons and 52 episodes of the Mane 6 being...well, the Mane 6, having a seventh character randomly pop up would screw with two seasons of character development.
