Any classical music you know of is appreciated!

Cuz we don't have enough of these topics already, right? :P

I'm gonna share a great piece I love, Tartini's Devil Trill.

A rather nice piece, but I must confess. I'm not really a fan of classical music. Not that I have anything against it, I just don't know much about it or have tried it very much.

I did always like Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata though.

Yay classical! I'm big on classical.

I guess I have to post this one:

I first heard it around 6 years ago. It was this very recording, and I adored the bassoon part in it. It went a long way to make me want to play the instrument. So I always have to post it.

Then there's this one:

I love a wide variety of different types of classical. It was hard just picking two to post right now. =P

Great songs, though I will admit that I'm not much a fan of flute classical. It's just never clicked with me.

I used to be a Cello player when I was in middle and high school.

Flute is, by a wide margin, my least favorite woodwind actually. There's a lot more to the second piece I posted then the flute. Although I guess it does have a lot of flute in it. I never noticed much. I guess flute just fits really well in Impressionistic music for me.

Oh I did like the second piece you posted. I was speaking in general.

Turn on a classical station and usually there's a flute. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not so good. I'm partial to strings, mainly because of my background as a Cello player.

Here's a bit of a mix of classical and rock.

This particular band is new to me, only found it a few weeks ago, but they are pretty good.

If anyone dares say "That's only a commercial" I will break the forth wall and climb out of your computer to yell at you! I don't know the name of the music used, but this short film is far too touching and beautiful to be though of as simply an advertizement. Please, watch the whole thing before commenting!

Just in case you don't know, the background tune used in this video is Pachelbel's Canon in D Major.
Very beautiful music. And beautiful video too.

Most people are, but not me! (Obvious, enough? lol)

I actually got to attempt to play a cello for a few minutes several years ago (in a music theory class). It was so foreign to me that it just couldn't work out.

Anyway, today I'll post a less popular style of classical that I have come to love a whole bunch over the last year or so - Renaissance Polyphonic music (choral):

I admit it's probably very much an acquired taste, but it is a very beautiful type of music, and I think it is very underrated these days. If my church started doing this kind of music I might actually show up! =P

While Ludovico Eunaudi is more of a contemporary composer of sorts, I'd say that his music would fit under the umbrella of classical. After all, a bit of breadth to a music thread is always nice. ^^

That was really beautiful. What can you recommend that's similar to this sound?

This is the only one I found that has all three parts in one video. This is one of my favorite piano arrangements. It easily sums almost all the most intense feelings possible in a music piece.

Renaissance-wise?

Spem in Alium - Thomas Tallis (this was the first video before it got removed from YouTube)
O Sacrum Convivium - Thomas Tallis
Videte Miraculum - Thomas Tallis

Yeah, lots of Tallis. Mostly because I purchased a CD of several of his compositions a couple of years ago. I love it.

There's also Miserere - Allegri

There's a metal band by the name of Heaven Shall Burn that has beautiful intro and outro songs composed by Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds.

Have some.

Something that I never knew was that Frank Zappa did this kind of music. Yes, it sounds kind of weird as compared to the innovators of this genre like Bach and Mozart or the new age composers of today, but being a progressive metal/rock fan, I take great appreciation in this.

I'm telling you these songs sound like they belong in Disney Movie scene where the main villian is stalking his prey or something. Like it was made for the Jungle Book or something...
