___________________________________________________________________________________MaryAnne Merlot opened up the Alicorn Ale Tavern for business, then retreated behind the counter to polish the glasses. She waited for any pony to walk into her tavern for lodging or a good meal and perhaps some good laughs in these difficult times. The princesses had just recently began their reign and Equestria was in trouble. The princesses were trying to bring peace to the land and make treaties with the outlying countries. Alas, the other country's did not all seem eager to put all ill will behind them. The Changelings, the Diamond Dogs, The Dragons, and the Griffins are just to name a few. There would soon be a peace conference in which they would attempt to find a fair treaty, they would discuss the future of the people and of all Equestria. These were tough times indeed, as the small village of Canterlot near the Castle would host the visitors and the meeting. People were all a flutter and nervous for the out come of their country. MaryAnne Merlot or Merlot for short was only too glad for the extra business but still cautious of the possibility that a fight amongst the visitors might breakout. Merlot contemplated her fears for a while until the tavern doors swung open...
