Scootaloo's Family?

Since Lauren already left the show behind, her words are no longer canon. She planned Cadence to be an unicorn, and we all know how she came out

 

Just because there is no clear canon about Scootaloo's family doesn't mean she is an orphan. For the entire S1 and half of S2 we never saw any telltale of Twilie had a brother, then suddenly Royal Wedding. Pretty sure sooner or later the writers will come up with something that will explain everything about Scootaloo.

 

Oh, and Scootaloo's wings are strong enough to pull two fillies on her scooter, her wings are not crippled

She was grown in a gestation tube in a massive underground complex beneath Canterlot Castle. Princess Celestia has been for years trying to replicate the changelings metamorphosis ability for use in their soldiers and Scootaloo is a result of her testing it to create a composite of the Mane Six. She was a stepping stone in a much larger product. She's has Rainbow Dash as her base, flutershy's flight handicap, Applejack's coat. Sort of a mutt containing varying degrees of different pony, but not balanced and focused enough to be the one pony to replace the Mane Six. That's a while off.

I think that Scootaloo has no parents, and other then Rainbow dash she has no actual sister.

Its pretty straightforward implied in my opinion, and they can't really state something that dark in a kids show anyways.

 

also as of now she can't fly, and I guess since Lauren said she wasn't meant originally to fly she probably won't, however with her not being apart of the team that could change technically. but its not that likely.

 

I'm a bit confused as to why she can't fly, yet she can flutter her wings so fast and propel her scooter.

Maybe I shouldn't question MLP aerodynamics .

It hasn't been proven whether or not she has parents, and I will make no judgments about it because there is literally no evidence for it.

 

And the case with her being crippled. Lauren Faust made that remark at the time when she was no longer working on the show, so whatever she says, I wouldn't count on it.

'I feel bad for Scootaloo' has been merged with 'Homeless Scootaloo', as both discuss Scootaloo's lack of any parental guardian figure and her lack of a home in general, from her not-so-elaborated on backstory.

 

I think it's an interesting topic to bring back up now that we've seen SiP, and also, Apple Family Reunion. While I don't endorse the idea of Scootaloo being a tragic character whether in canon or fanon, I do honestly prefer the idea of her being an orphan (or at least continue to not have her home life ever talked about), because I genuinely think it makes her a stronger character. And, pertaining to the 'the show would never delve into that theme', well, to be honest, it was subtly hinted to that Applejack's (and Apple Bloom's by extension) parents are deceased in AFR, which was more or less confirmed via a writer on Twitter. I don't think a hint towards Scootaloo not really having a place to call home is all that far fetched. Especially given the fact that the problem has been remedied a fair bit by Scootaloo gaining Dash as a surrogate sister who can look after her.

I do think that Scootaloo does have parents and now that she and Rainbow Dash have had their dumb sister hood episode, I think now is the time that they give her more development.

 

Now I am not a huge Scootaloo and I don't think I ever will be. The problem I have with her is that, this character has barely been looked at and there's not much to say about her character. All she's got is that she is a fan of Rainbow Dash and she's a CMC. Then after that there's not much else. Maybe if they look more at her home life, then I feel that she can develop more as a character.

Save the Dark tags for fimfiction.net. I would be tremendously surprised if she were homeless and/or had no parents. In the vein of Chaotic Discord, I think they omit Scoot's parents so that they can more easily build a sister-like or student/mentor relationship between Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash.

I think it just didn't occur to the writers to show her parents. A lot of the ponies' families still have never been shown. They're going to build up her friendship with Dash from here on (hopefully), but I don't think it was their plan from the beginning, any more than Scootaloo being homeless. I think they just make things up as they go along.

I have thought about Scootaloo in the past. I never really liked her much until the Rainbow dash camping episode. I don't know if they designed it so that we would fall for her over time, but it seemed to work. she seemed to be in a state of desperation and so vulnerable in that episode. I did think about her parents, or lack of. There are homeless children in the UK unfortunately. Two of my friends were homeless children (and in care) and they looked after each other when they were growing up because all they had was each other. 

 

Maybe Scootaloo put's on a brash and fun loving attitude because she really doesn't have anyone and acting like that makes her feel like someone. (Or maybe it's just a cartoon and I'm over analyzing) lol

So many people don't think that this show could have a homeless child in it but honestly I don't think it's too dark to exist in the show even if they don't actually cover it. After all, Applejack's parents are dead has been confirmed as canon so I don't think it's too out there for Scootaloo to be homeless.

As for what it could be, hard to know for certain, they would definitely never cover it in any obvious way.

I really see Scootaloo as more of a filly that just needs a sister or a idol to look up too. The way I see it, I think the development of having Rainbow Dash as a sister to Scootaloo, could shed some light on the background of Scootaloo, and since Scootaloo will follow RD in her hoof steps so to speak to learn how to fly. This can really be a good thing for Scootaloo to learn from her idol and, have her dream come true to have Dash as her big sister.

I would LOVE to see in the show an explanation on Scootaloo, but I doubt that well happen. Like what the doctor said, she probably isn't homeless because of the audience target. Though I could see her being in foster care.

i've always thought she just lives in an orphanage somewhere. I don't think shes homeless though.

 

 

However, I don't think they'll ever adress this in an episode, its much to dark regardless, so unless she magically gains parents this topic will never be mentioned.

Like I said earlier, I advocate for Scootaorphan as I believe it makes her character stronger, especially with someone like Dash to now be the surrogate sister guardian to look after her, but I just found this, and I'd be totally fine with it. A single military parent taking care of Scoots would explain why we never see her parents, and it could also explain why she wanted Dash as a big sister so much, because she wants that female guardian figure that her two friends have, especially without a mother around.

 

Yeah, I'd be pretty okay with this.

I recently watched cutie mark chronicles and started thinking about something I noticed. Of all the nine core ponies (the mane six and the CMCs) we have an origin story for all but one, scootaloo. We have seen twilight's parents, rainbow dash's dad, pinkie's parents, fluttershy's fillyhood, rarity's parents, apple jack's family, apple bloom lives with AJ, and sweetie belle lives with rarity. However I have never seen scootaloo with any family, I have never heard her refer to any family, and we have never seen her past. So, who is this mysterious young Pegasus?

 

I looked around various fan sites and found an interesting idea: scoot may be an orphan. I compiled some evidence both for and against this theory and decided to post it here. I only use canon content (official and from the show or various merch) to give evidence, so no fanfics.

 

Evidence she is an orphan

------------------------------------

1: we never see her family or relatives ( and no, she is not related to rainbow dash)

 

2: she never speaks about home, family, or her earlier life.

 

3: scootaloo looks up to rainbow dash as a big sister. This may just be her being young but she sees dash as a big sister and almost parental figure.

 

4: scoot just seems to be there. If you pay attention in sleepless in ponyville than you may notice that sweetie belle has to get permission from rarity to go on the trip while scoot just says she's coming and does. Scootaloo also does not seem to do anything or go anywhere in particular unless its with her friends.

 

5: she can't fly. If you watch episodes that take place at the school than you may notice that most of the other young pegasi can fly, we also know from cutie mark chronicles that pegasi need to be taught to fly. This means that no one is there to teach scoot to fly until rainbow dash takes her under her wing.

 

Evidence she is not an orphan

1: this show's target demographic is little girls. While most bronies would be fine with her being an orphan I'm not sure how it would affect the younger viewers. However mlp fim is notorious for not being overly sweet and sugary (dragonshy, the whole impersonating cadence to destroy equestria thing, king sombra actually getting killed, etc.) so this is more or less irrelevant.

 

2: we have possibly seen her house. If you remember the first babs seed episode (one bad apple, I think) than you may have noticed that the CMCs gather in a room in a normal house. Sweetie belle lives in the boutique with rarity and apple bloom lives on the farm with AJ, so who does that room belong too?

I think she is an orphan and Hasbro and DHX will not directly confirm it due to potential controversy. However I think the creators want the community to infer that she does not live with/ have a family. I would like to see some official backstory for scoot and finally know for sure weather or not she has a family.

Since I agree OP at the moment she seems like a orphan, or perhaps a sort of "Her parents are out of town all the time" sort of deal.

Actually this sounds like good meat for an episode dealing with parents who can't be there all the time as some other parents might.

I don't think Scootaloo is a orphan. Even though, she has no siblings or family. There might be a episode where she learns to fly but, Faust said that she is a handicap/disabled pony that can't really fly but her wings can still move. So, she is a orphan for now.

I still think the idea of Scootaloo being an orphan simply because her parents have never been onscreen is a bit much. The way I see it, her parents consist of earthponies and/or unicorns and she is an only child, which would both explain why she both she wants Rainbow Dash as a big sister and why she can't fly yet.

Well all the foals seen so far on the show had direct or indirect evidence of having a caretaker at least in Cheerlie's class. After all, why would Cheerlie bother with a "Family Appreciation Day" knowing that one of her students is an orphan? I don't think Cheerlie is that heartless...

First of all, the room they gather in is Sweetie Belle's. While she is often seen around Rarity, Sisterhooves Social reveals that she lives with her parents in that house by the lake.

Second of all, I wouldn't mind id she turned out to be an orphan, if it's handled well. Like, she's happily living with a foster parent or she was adopted or whatever. I dunno, it may be feels-overkill if they go with Lauren Faust's "Scootaloo is handicapped" idea (which I hope they do, because that would allow for some great writing, right there).

She definitely is an orphan, she never has talked about her parents, home, she does look up to Dashie as a big sis, and she can't fly is a bit evident.

 

Either that or lazy character development since Hasbro maybe wanted to focus more on Applebloom and Sweetie Belle.

 

Yet this strongly supports that she is orphaned.

 

Now if only something will be explained in season 4.

I don't think there's enough evidence to say conclusively whether or not she is an orphan, and therefore, not worth me forming a position. It's possible, but I wouldn't say it's true. Until we see a concrete confirmation (either seeing Scootaloo's parents or her saying that she has no parents) I can't say, either way, whether she's an orphan or not.

There have been many fanfics and such based off of the fact that Scoots is an orphan and RD takes her in as her surrogate sister. It's awesome that it became reality

 

Though not 100% canon, it's almost 100% clear that she doesn't have parents.

 

I would go frenzy if she didn't have parents cuz then there's less RD love ._.
