I think Equestria needs to get some internet connection. I don't know, I just like to wonder these things. Spike could video chat with Rarity, and Twilight could buy books online.

That would be a nice plot for an episode. All the ponies get access to the internet and cease to casually walk on the streets, rendering Ponyville empty.

Video games are canon in Equestria, though they are very primitive, considering that HUB commercial I'd say they're at a NES, Atari hybrid age. So they must have primitive computers in order to develop those games. So the internet may be already in the works but it's use is exclusive to the Equestrian Royal Guard.
