Wits End was glancing about nervously inside Canterlot Castle. As a reporter, he nominally had some protection against the whims of anypony who might want him dead. But, ever since the war had kicked up so considerably, everypony had seemed to lose their head. He would't be surprised if he were attacked to prevent an unfavorable review. Security levels were increasing all the time, and he hadn't managed to speak to any officials on the Solar Empire side in months. It was a risky journey, but he might need to venture across the borders for NLR news if he couldn't get anything on this side.

"All right." Nightfall steeped outside and noticed Wits End nervously standing around. Nightfall pulled Wits End aside.
"Hey, you're a reporter, yeah?"

Wits End had been hanging aorund all morning, and hadn't a single story to show for it.
"Yes, and I've been the official war correspondent the entire length of the war. I would appreciate a little more information. I'm not a mushroom, to be kept in the dark and fed on horse-crap. I need a story, and you most definitely want it from your side. What on earth is going on around here?" As he spoke, a yellow aura surrounded his horn as he prepared his trusty, well beaten notebook and a fancy pen from his longcoat.

"As we all know, the New Lunar Empire is revolting against the Solar Empire. This civil war is the result. I've just come from a meeting with the Solar Empire leader herself, Princess Celestia. I'm about to head off and take some men to the front lines. I'll take you, if you want."

"Alright, alright. What our readers really want is a summation of the war effort, and I guess I can get that best with my own eyes. Whenever I ask you people, you give me 'We expect the war to be over in no more than a week.' For months now." He scratched a few notes, adjusted his spectacles with hoof, and continued riding. "How many men do you have in reserve at this point?"

"I'm afraid I can't answer that question directly. We never know where their spies are. And truthfully, I expect this war to last for many more months."

"We have 200 ponies in the reserve forces, but about 5000 active duty," Celestia stepped in, "but I trust that more are soon to enlist."

"Interesting..., interesting... Do you think that will be sufficient? According to every previous report, you have lost every battle save for those where you have had double the force of the rebels? I quote a young recruit and say 'The rebels fight like devils, and you just can't bring 'em down."

"Editorial confidence, ma'am. I'm sure you understand." Oddly enough, staring down the ruler who could have him kill was a lot more calming than simply the thought of doing so. He had done this before. It wasn't like Celestia was anything, just higher up than most of the authority figures he had sparred against.
