Also, it's early, but I wanted to get this started to begin a queue for people planning to get a PSVita next month. Basically, I want to manage a list of people who own the system and leave an open room for those and others to discuss about the system and special events.

I know I don't plan on getting one right away, since my PSP is still pretty decent. That, and I'd lose access to my UMD games, some of which aren't downloadable yet, Like Kingdom Hearts BBS, its not on PSN yet, so there's only one other way to get it, which I don't like, since sometimes it doesn't turn out very well.

That said, I think Vita is ok, I just wish some of the features would've been put on the PSP, but that'll never happen now.

Like internet radio. I wonder why it's not on there. Also, they have Facebook and Twitter apps, so that's a wonderful addition. I hear YouTube app is coming.

Also, I was comparing specs against the iPad, and PSVita is incredibly more powerful.

Just talk about the PSVita for now I guess lol. After the devise launches, we could plan events around the games. The devise is heavily social enabled and has cross-chat or w/e people call it.

Meh, Internet radio wasn't too great, besides, if the browser is better, it should support streaming of radio stations.

Well sadly there's no flash support. But I think SONY has html5 planned to be released sometime in the future.

I'd love to buy it, but the price is madly expensive and so are prices of games to I'm not going to buy it

iPod is far more expensive for less features. I personally think 250$ is perfect.

Yeah maybe there in the US you can afford it, I get 10$ pocket money a month and PS Vita will cost 325$ in my country so even if after some time I could buy the console with my savings I'd never be able to buy games. I'd afford two a year and only if I spent all my money on them and I'm not gonna do so.

I think either they'll support Flash in the long run, or websites will start converting to HTML5 fast enough for it to work out. Plus YouTube. That's good enough for me, lol.

Depends on the model, actually, the lowest end Touch costs less than Vita, but yeah, I think I'd buy the Vita over an iPod anyday. To me, iPods are overated, cool, but my Pixi does wonders.

EDIT:

Yeah maybe there in the US you can afford it, I get 10$ pocket money a month [...]

That stinks. Yet, I envy you, because you know how to stretch a dollar, versus others, who tend to just blow their money on simple things. Like for me, I'd love to have an iPad, but I also don't think I could throw away $400-$500 for something I probably won't be able to take advantage of, yet some of my friends just went out and bought one right away, and never even use them! You cannot make an offical group without the consent of Feld0.

That's a ridiculous rule, every board/forums I've been to allows "Official [blank] Thread", even if they're not official.

I disagree, he should be allowed to.

Yeah putting "Official" in a thread should be approved by Feld first. Atleast Imo

Please don't argue about this. If Feld0 sees this thread and decides Official should be taken off, then I'm sure he'll determine that. Not trying to backseat mod or anything, but I've been scared off boards for 2 years due to arguing about things like this, if the admin doesn't like it, he'll take care of it, besides saying "official" is almost the same as saying "its mine, nobody else's!"

On another note, memory cards for this thing are expensive, and for something that's mandatory too. I wish they would've kept compatability with Memory Sticks.

Anyway~

I fixed the title for the time being.

Please allow me a moment to explain this "official/unofficial" business. If you don't have the patience to read through the spoiler, you most definitely shouldn't be calling anything "official".

Members have come to expect a certain quality of service from MLP Forums. So when an entity (be it a game server, a Skype room, or even a thread) is denoted as "official", it should serve as an indicator that some forethought has gone into it and that it is a good representation of what our site and community stand for. It also means that it is monitored and managed by our staff, or at least members whom the staff trust to operate something on the site's behalf.

This is particularly important with off-site stuff, as members involved in those may run into other users who are not part of MLP Forums, and I want MLP Forums to look as good as possible to them - often, this leads to subsequent conversions and registrations (we've had a number of people join after checking out our Minecraft server, for example).

If anything claims to be an "official" MLP Forums thing (or can easily be mistaken as such), people can and will judge the entire site based on it - especially guests and prospective registrants. Think of MLP Forums as a brand - it has value and deserves to be protected.

If a member wants to create something "official" and manage it on behalf of MLP Forums, I'm usually cool with it if they ask nicely. I prefer to also host "official" things whenever possible, so should the person running it decide to abandon it, it can be reported to me and I'll be in a position to do something about it.

Here's an example of a worst-case scenario that our "official" things are ready for: if someone else hosted our official Minecraft server and decided to screw off for whatever reason, we would lose all of our world data along with the member.

In other words, the word "official" has value attached to it. You can't just create a website, put up a few pictures of Mario, and call it Nintendo's official website - if it gets any kind of popular, you might get the site seized, receive a DMCA, or even face a lawsuit. That's because Nintendo don't control your site, and do not want to risk their company image over it if you, say, decided to post up some Zelda porn there someday.

I'm not going to be filing lawsuits against anyone, but I kindly ask that you respect the MLP Forums name and community image, and ask before using it. That's all.

Also... I know all of the above might sound like overkill for a forum thread (and it is), but it's a rule primarily meant to deal with off-site services like Skype, Minecraft, and the like, for which I can't just go and edit or delete a thread. But it still applies to threads, too. Call me a control freak if you want, but keeping a clear distinction between what is endorsed and supported by MLP Forums staff and what isn't is crucial to keeping the community organized, safe, and of a high quality as it grows in the long term.

Now, MyKotoShi, you're welcome to make this our official PlayStation Vita thread. But next time (and this goes for anyone else), please ask first.

While I'm sure I'll own a Vita eventually, I think it'll probably be a fair while. Both it and the 3DS have yet to really 'wow' me.

I tend to buy handhelds fairly late into their life cycles, though.

I am mostly intrigued by the social connectivity the device has. I especially find the Twitter app very useful and the GPS feature where you can find other Vita users.

But again this thread was started early so I could compress all PSVITA talk into one thread.

It doesn't interest me at the moment. I got my 3DS and that's all I need!

I actually have a PSP, but I wasn't likely to ever buy one. It was given to me. I took that chance to play Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, and it really is a great game. However, as long as Vita doesn't have any Kingdom Hearts titles I'm not likely to be interested in it, and even then it probably wouldn't make me buy it.

Despite all of this I do wish success for the Vita. Whatever is necessary to keep cell phones from becoming the main gaming device, because that would be ridiculous.

Funny thing with me is that when PSP first came out, all I could do was laugh it off. I even seen it at the mall the first day it was availible. I didn't think it'd go anywhere. Now I'm a proud PSP owner. I think I'll wait for the price to come down before getting it.

Also, memory cards are expensive for this thing, I hate how they didn't just keep compatability with Memory Sticks.
