It's been an amazing adventure, being apart of the brony army.  ;)  And I love MLP FIM so much but I have to admit, this episode just sucked.... <_<  First of all, there were like 5 songs.... which was very irritating.  It was all so rushed, and Twilight solved the problem in the first 10 minutes.... and than Hasbro made her an allicorn!!!  :o It just seemed to happen way too fast and I don't think Twilight should be a princess... If anything they should have at least made the finale 2 episodes.... overall I totally dislike this episode.... it was poorly made.

That is no excuse.  In fact that is all the more reason to properly pace this episode.  They could have made this whole episode about the cutie mark switching and ended with Twilight finishing the spell.  Would that have been so hard?

Of course it's no excuse. It also doesn't make the episode seem any worse at all. You, on the other hand, are just seeing the glass as half-empty, whereas I see it as half-full right now.

The only way Hasbro is going to listen to us is with a little competition.I propose we create a free culture original pony show Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported. Here is info about this project http://mlpforums.com/topic/49011-awesome-pony-fighting-game/ .

I just need someone to help Cooltomorrowkid http://cooltomorrowkid.deviantart.com/ fix the SVG files.  And then I could start this project.

I only said what I said because I'm seeing the same "debate" in maybe two or three different threads now.

And it's amounted to almost the same thing.

Some people enjoy it for whatever reasons they have.

And some of the people that don't are saying somewhat outrageous things like "OMG! SHE HAS WINGS. SHE'S NOT A MANE SIX ANYMORE.", "THE LAST FIVE MINUTES DIDN'T HAPPEN" (in another forum), etc. (Because hating something means you can deny something that's factual.)

Now, I'm not saying everyone that is on either side is doing this, but no one's conceding to the other and we end up going in circles. It's almost (ALMOST, I said) like the equivalent of Classic vs Modern Sonic in the MLP fandom.

The other part of it amounts to (exaggerating):

> If 90% of people like it, then the 10% are allowed to disagree and everyone's happy.

> If 90% of people hate it, then the 10% are stupid for thinking otherwise and are clearly blind because the 90% must be right.

...

Well, that's out of my system now. I think I'll just stop following this thread.

Sky Warden, stop being such an ass, and are you calling yourself intelligent? And stop mentioning "useful" discussions/debates. If someone doesn't like the episode, that doesn't mean it's useless and is unintelligent.

I dislike this episode. Well, I give it a low 6 or maybe 7 rating. It's good but not too great!

Also, there's some rumors that the writers from the FiM series steal this Twilight Sparkle Alicorn idea from someone who made this as a fan art of the first time. Is that true?

Where did you hear that?  According to Faust, turning Twlight into an Alicorn was the plan from the very beginning.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video. You guys, especially the sore bronies who are mad about the episode, should at least give it a try.

I don't want to change your opinions on the episode or the Twilicorn, but this guy explained INCREDIBLY WELL all the things I wanted to say because I couldn't organize and sort out the ideas that I had in my head. I still can't believe how many of you couldn't feel what I felt watching this episode.

It seems like you forgot how Twilight Sparkle got there, and how much she has grown to become the princess that she is today. Only a person that has watched since episode 1 and got attached to the characters can understand the amount of emotion, memories and growth that this episode delivers, but still you bashed on the episode because it felt rushed (which I agree to an extent) and dumb (like many of you said) because it lacked more situations and dialogue.

THE VISUALS of the episode and the MUSIC did all the storytelling, it's not that hard to figure it out. Anyways, this fight over MMC and Twilicorn has been really intense so I don't want to change anyone's opinions but just take a look at this video.

Wow, love listening to this guy. Time to Subscribe.

Very nice. That said, hate to be a stickler, but this sort of thing really does belong in the official episode discussion topic for Magical Mystery Cure, so I'm going to merge it with that.

But hey, fifty billion people (by which I mean 21) are following the thread so you should get even more brohoofs and responses than being stand-alone anywho xD

Oh this guy.. I don't remember this name, but he post some blog on youtube saying "This is what happends when writers read fan fic and fan art ideas." It post about the Twlight Alicorn video. I don't know I guess he or she want some attention.

It's just hard to find *cough* intelligent people these days. At least it's hard to find those who know what's a forum and a discussion are made for.

Well, as the bad side, I found those dresses the Princesses used are bad designed. I like those they made in the season 1. Maybe the color choice. Purple and gold don't look so good to me. Just saying.

Purple and gold are traditionally the colors of royalty, so they are perfectly appropriate. Purple because the dye used was extremely rare and expensive in those days, and gold for similar reasons. Doesn't excuse the designs of course.

Anyone else really wondering how that bear got into Fluttershy's (or RD's at the time) cottage...? He seems a tad large...

Oh. I guess it's just my eyes. Perhaps you're right. The Chinese uses gold for their traditional royal colour. If I'm not wrong, purple is used by nobles in Europe isn't it? Dunno if there's any culture which uses the combination of both.

LOL. Yes, the design.

Applejack was on fire in this episode as far as her singing. I really think Ashleigh Ball is having more and more fun playing as her, and her voice has improved over the seasons. There's a bit of a difference in AJ's voice in season 1 as compared to how she sounds now, and it's for the better.

I'm so surprised how not many other ponies were complaining about how the show ended. There's more negativity on youtube then on the forms. And I'm happy for that. Cuz I thought that the ending of season 3 was a very emotional ride that I wasn't expecting. But I was extremely overwhelmed with emotion and tears that Twilight got wings and is now an alicorn princess.

Season 4 is going to be a blast to watch! Just because I wanna see her try and learn how to fly. I'm seeing allot more Rainbow Dash coming up too. I'm hoping that she's going to be her tutor on the art of flying.

The complaints that I've read on youtube were all about the same topic. (Mostly) It's all surrounding Twilight getting most of the screen time on the show.

I can understand their concerns and disapprovals. But the show is (basically) about Twi getting familiarized with friendship and learning about its importance for mental health. And I figured out that the show WAS all about her from the very first episode of season one. Seen how she's being mentored by Princess Celestria. And I could almost see where the show was heading. Twilight becoming a magician and learning all about how too keep Ponyville and Canterlot safe from all the villans that plagued the locations.

How too manipulate their powers with the power of friendship and then use what she's learned to keep them all safe.

But on the other hoof. Not all the problems were dealt with by her alone. And that's what I'm hoping for in the next season. I'm hoping that they keep the ponies together for even more misadventures and teachings instead of Twilight basically being in magic princess school for 26 episodes. I'd like to see about 2 episodes with her in school and being taught all that she can learn then. Not for half the season and then she returns for basically a vacation. Something like Rainbow Dashes Wonderbolt Accademy would be pleasurable. But maybe a little slower paced then Dashes episode.

it went better than expected but at the same time it wasn't spectacular.

the pacing was off and that really put a lot of people off it but the songs were amazing

Good evidence, but in this image I can't find Rarity's character. I can't believe that she actually agreed to hide in a hole/cavern

well said, since the episodes were character driven instead of story oriented, each brony started to pick their favorite pony, it's harmless and good until we start to complain why this character get more screentime than my favorite.

And something that we don't get is that Twilight Sparkle is the main character of the show, so there's no reason at all to moan and complain about it because it lacks fundaments.

I watched the video and it gave me....nothing. It might be due to my head spinning right now.

I've been watching this season from episode one and I at no point felt anything. All I felt was embarrassment for the show due to the horrid writing that it had been forced to endure. Just telling me that sacrificing writing and actual development to slap me with a league of songs  make it fix anything nor wipes away the transparent rushed pace of it all doesn't make it any better. That weak...at best. So, based on the feeling the songs gave me, this was the worst episode ever.

You use songs to dazzle people, to gap the dialogue, to shift large amounts of talking or to simply set an atmosphere. Disney doesn't spam songs at you, it uses them at best as a short introduction and then has a obligatory villain song to set his atmosphere/ personality basis in a small time frame, its used to express great desire or dreams. Thing that are in nature very important to a said character or have extreme emotions linked to them. They are used to express key characters point. Hence why the villain encounters may have songs too, since this is the introduction of the villain as his/ her goals. In other times they are used to picture a community, which to its credit MMC did sort of do in the start. As the community is indeed an un-focused and important part of any character.

Example:

Princess and the frog:

New Orleans-Community and intro.

I got friends on the other side-The villain deal and goal.

Almost there- Main character goal and how she is connected to community.

You got to look inside(whatever its called)-the progression of the goals of each character and the introduction of a new one.

Song are very good at creating fast progression...the key word being fast but they should also have meaning, they should resemble key points and important parts. If I am getting a song that legitimate about a important part/ character trait/ goal or whatever within two minutes after one another, that basically flipping a chapter of a book instead of a page. Hence why it has progression issues, it also makes the emotions within these songs a commodity and lack the mark or impact they had. Even in songs there job is to convey something and move it along, not solve it entirely. It isn't the song jobs to come in and go "Don't worry characters. I'll mop up here!" thats the song stealing the spot light from the characters themselves, I should have more personality in the mane six than seeing a sad face, trying to convince me that this song is more powerful and important that the last three I just had a second ago. Then when celestia finally comes In I'm numbed to it all, its no longer important to me. Its just throwing the same thing over and over again to move stuff out the way, going all out with the voice actors and animation in some vague hope that It will be enough to keep me happy to the end, same with the speech and the tears. Well, no. I want writing, actual writing. I want the mane six, not a damn musical where the musician are playing the parts.

Conflict is not conflict if all they do is make a sad face then immediately fix a problem.

it should of taken a page of out Discords return episode 2.

Anything has potential. I could morph twilight and pinkie pie into a gay couple called stave and eric who like to lift weights and throws parties and I still pull crap from the air about the possibilities.

I shouldn't HAVE to be fed the possibilities, I shouldn't HAVE to ask questions. I shouldn't have to be told by my fellow bronies over and over again that waiting for it will yield results. No, this was the finale. This one episode, this was was what we got for the season ending and it left me with nothing but a few songs, a bunch of questions and a shocked expression on my face. Telling to me watch it over again dosen't suddenly inspire me to like it. Its not like a burning fire enriches my soul and I'll convert on the spot my opinions.

If I have to have other people explain the plot to me or fill in the plot holes to me then that is bad conveyance or outright bad writing.  If I have to be told that I need to wait and see the potentials then that is bad appeal and CONVEYANCE  You can't go shuffle away the issues by begging people to look to the future, that nothing more than a really nice way of asking me to forgive the episode it self and hope the future ones will do better or fix it writing wise, If the episode was good I wouldn't need to have others implore me to look forth to the future, I would actively look forward to it myself in optimism.

Its ironic that twilight being the main character card is being pulled because we didn't see a single shred of twilight personality within the mist of all these songs and bad writing. they focused on twilight purely because they couldn't even get one character personality into the episode and story progression, let alone six.  I honestly could replace twilight voice and just stick a unicorn OC in her place and everything would be the same. Hell, they couldn't even explain half the plot.

it was a bail out of an episode. We got a deus ex machina spell that comes out of nowhere that overly does all this stuff...because...magic, I guess. We got a mystical void realm just out of nowhere for no reason. When you make a mystical void realm, especially with no reason beforehand or at least clues to it, that writers code for "OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK AM I WRITING  quickly. Quickly. Just shove a god realm in there and try to pretends its mystical!"

No.

I think throwing songs at me and pretty visual along with some hollow speeches plus some tear animations won't make me sad, it won't make me angry, it won't even make me entertained. It will make me bored.

I went into this objectively. I gave no cares towards twilicorn or the episodes. I was a little iffy about what this will lead to or if it was true but that it at best.

Re-watching it won't change what it is. Saying the logic behind the songs doesn't mean they aren't forced, fast, overkill and skips actual character development, pretty much defeating the mane six even being there. They could be any characters for all I care and how the hell or why the hell would I feel for someone accomplishment if it doesn't provide the character itself for this moment. Telling me the possibilities doesn't change the present, which is a massive mistake.

If your lone episode causes rifts within a fandom. That a bad episode. The fandom is a reflection of the product, the fact its gotten so confused and uppity to the point that it had to have its own sub forums speaks clearly on what it has done.

Is the episode god awful?

Nah. Its not THAT bad. It has a lot of good points...but with its all out and gun blazing attitude, it made its flaws just as clear and shining to see.

Perhaps you would be willing to show your support to the show my joining the MLPMakeItWork, where fans will take the episodes of My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic and make the canon work by expanding and adding explanation to what is shown and for the ending given.

ou use songs to dazzle people, to gap the dialogue, to shift large amounts of talking or to simply set an atmosphere.

Wrong.  The best use of songs, and this is what Walt Disney himself believed (since you mentioned Disney) is that you use songs to move the plot along rather than stall the plot for a song. (Which is why the Soap Song (or whatever it was called) was cut out from Snow White.  He felt it stopped the story.

I think the songs did a good job in MMC.  It moved the plot or updated the character.  Both legitimate reasons for a song.
