Am I seriously the only one who doesn't like the .MOV series?

Nah, you're not alone. Honestly, I'm afraid to watch a complete .MOV video through and through. I've seen clips of them, and they just don't appeal to me. The video thumbnails on Youtube don't exactly help either.

I completely agree with you. Half of the time it's funny and random, but then we find out that it's just a big bag-o-drugs and crap. I never did get anything out of it.

I also really dislike them, but Swag.mov was alright and the only .mov I liked. Glad they are over though^^
 

 

I'm with you. I just don't understand who the hell finds "my dad makes me stick glass in my va**na" to be a funny joke. I like dark comedy, but all I see is the dark. Where is the comedy part?

I agree on that. It's those "Hurr durr he said the v-word" kind of humor that I just don't think is funny. Unfortunately that's what most people nowadays think a parody is like(Scary Movie, Meet the Spartans,...). But I grew up with parodies like Hot Shots or Spaceballs, which in my eyes, were much more funny and intelligent.

 

Also I don't like the art style and most of the VAs. I just can't stand dudes that are voicing female characters like in almost every internet video, it's so annoying^^

I really liked the Pinkie one personally.  The others can be pretty hit or miss, sometimes they're just more disturbing than funny.  I liked the first hotdiggedy demon comic con thingie though, with wolfpuncher.

To me, they are videos that I can only watch once. I watch them once just to see them, and then I'm done.

 

The funniest character in that series is Spike.

 

I haven't seen the latest one yet, though. I'll have to one of these days~

I dislike them all about as much as I dislike their creator, (that's a lot, for those of you not following). 

I just feel the whole series is trying too hard, and honestly I see it as an insult to our intelligence - swearing and throwing around narcotic references and other stupid things (Pinkie Pie's father for example) It's just fucking dumb. I can appreciate how much effort the guy put into making it, but I feel he could have put that effort into something more productive, and less stupid. 

 

That said, the only thing I found even remotely entertaining about the whole thing was the apple.MOV. It's about the only one of the lot that actually made any kind of sense.

Well I've really not seen any of the .mov series but I did see one bit of it and the art style and all that stuff creeped me out so much the first time watching that I never got around to checking it out again.

 

However if it's more of a dark or dirty humor type thing I probably won't enjoy it much. I don't care much for dirty humor really to be honest.

 

I ain't seen enough to really be judging it though, seeing as I've seen like 20 seconds of it. Maybe I'll watch some someday.

Seriously though, NO, you are so not the only one. I can't watch these things. They're vulgar, crass, ugly as sin and everything else MLP isn't supposed to be. I think of them more as YTP than as legitimate products of the fandom, because they could've been made by a non-brony or even a hater, and I wouldn't be able to tell.

I like them, but I'm not a huge fan. My brony friend in my scout troop didn't like them. I thought that they were great if you are into that sort of thing, like blood, violence, and everything else he put in it. He did a good job though with the animation and VA. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

I don't like it, either. Hell, I absolutely loathe it. The PONY.MOV series is everything that MLP isn't. It isn't funny, it doesn't have any of the qualities that makes the show good, and it certainly isn't what I look for when I watch ponies.

 

But that's part of what makes it so good, though- because it *is* so strange and different.  It's like an R rated Ren and Stimpy.  Personally I love Party.MOV the best.

Curious as to why this topic garnishes so much negativity. Maybe this topic style of asking if you're the only one to -dislike- something should be avoided, because 90% of this topic is 'yup, you're right it sucks' more or less xD Title seems to discourage the inclusion of fans of the series to partake, since it's like a...club mindset going on or something for only those who agree with the OP to jump in X.x

The animation is good.

Meh is all I can really say about the .MOV series.

The animation is good, the jokes are just shock and crude stuff mostly. I mean, I enjoyed Apple.mov and some of Shed.mov, but it really went downhill from there on, only really watching them to pass the time.

 

The last one, Swag.mov though, was probably the stupidest one in the series, pretty much getting rid of all the main characters bad traits to make a happy ending (I mean, why would they need a happy ending anyway?)

 

Also, the way Rainbow Dash whispers 'swag' when she uses that sword is the most god awfully naff thing I have ever seen.

I will say that on another forum I go to, there was this one guy who had to bring up his detest for MLP every single time it was every brought up in our general chat thread, despite having not seen it.

 

Well one of the local bronies posted one of those videos. It got the anti-brony to start watching the show because of how messed up the .mov video was. Hell, he even started watching gen 3.5 because of it...

 

Don't ask me how any of that made sense. I am just glad that he doesn't constantly make anti-brony comments on the forum anymore.

SWAG.MOV was probably the worst in the series. It wasn't as funny as the others and, as hard as it is to believe, made almost no sense. Didn't set foot on the hype train and it was still disappointed. PARTY.MOV was probably the one i laughed most at.

The .MOV series over time has been decreasing my interest for it, but I mainly stick around for the animation style of it. Twas good to see Jappleack come back tough.

I have watched a few but do not see any entertainment value. A fun calculation is to rate entertainment average over length of time and then calculate how much cost you relative to your pay. Lest assume you get $X per hour. That is how much your time is worth. How much money would you have earned working for the same length of time as the entertainment. You can directly calculate the entertainment value if you also weigh the values with a 1 to 10 enjoyment rank.

I agree. When I watch them (have watched them all), I don't find myself laughing at all, I find myself wondering "Why is this even associated with the show?" The artwork is amazing, and I commend Hotdiggedydemon for putting that much effort, but it's just not funny, in my opinion.

For me, they are a "last resort" for entertainment, honestly.
