On Pegasus Wings

I originally wrote new lyrics to John Denver's "Eagles and Horses" several months ago; but when I first recorded it, my voice was pretty weak from surgery.  So I re-recorded it after massaging the lyrics a bit.

 

 

When I first wrote the pony lyrics, I was thinking about how myself and others who feel so connected with the world of MLP:FiM may be bound in imperfect bodies.  But that our spirits aren't bound by our physical bodies, and how in spirit we are as free as any pegasus... as majestic as any alicorn.  And even though we're here on this world, we can still strive toward the goodness we see in the MLP world.

 

 

After creating my ponysona OC, I liked to imagine her singing to colts and fillys who might be wishing they could fly like their pegasus friends... or singing it for ponies who may have physical limitations themselves.

Wow..you have a really pretty singing voice. I don't listen to a ton of brony music but this is actually really really good. I like how soothing it sounds while being actually very dynamic.

I'm not very good at writing melodies, or even lyrics, (this just came to me all in a rush -- like it just had to be sung).

 

I much prefer working with others and singing things that they've written.

 

I hope to be able to find other brony musicians to team-up with -- I'd just love to do more pony-themed songs!

Well everyone starts somewhere! The lyrics you used in this song were absolutely perfect and frankly, it'd be interesting to see a brony make ponified versions of songs. I'm not sure if somebody's already on that, but just from this song- it seems like something you're really talented at!

 

Seriously- you should try to get in contact with collaborating brony musicians and see if maybe you can sing lyrics for songs they've already composed! I'm sure there's plenty of people who would be interested in working with your skill!

I'm pretty new to the herd.. I've been quietly enjoying things from a distance for months and months, but I just needed to connect with other bronies and pegasis's, and so here I am.

(I remember seeing a picture a quiet moment between Ditzy/Derpy and The Doctor where Ditzy is laying against the Doctor, crying, and she is saying, "I don't want to be special any more."  And my heart just broke for her right there... I was like, "Oh hun... I know so very much what you mean."

 

(...And it fit so well with this song... that no matter if our bodies may not be what we wish that they were... our spirits can fly, they are free.  <3 )

Thanks so much! Yes, I agree with you that the instrumentals are not great.  Being a singer and having to otherwise rely on other musicians to sing with, when there's a song I really want to do and no one to sing to, I do the best I can. :/

 

I'm working with a real Brony musician who's re-doing the music for this song, hopefully we'll be done with the new version of it in a few weeks!

It kind of depends on what I'm singing. I can sing deep very comfortably, but, if I tune a little bit before I sing, I can also sing very high soprano. I have a pretty wide range, but sometimes it's difficult to transition properly from the two.
