See this thing? I hate this thing. It's out of place, sticks out like an eyesore and it looks braggy as all hell, as if to say 'OH MAN, LOOK AT ALL THESE BROHOOVES, THAT'S "EXCELLENT" AND EVERYONE SHOULD WORSHIP THIS PERSON :3

In my opinion, it should be removed entirely. But where would you go on someone's profile to see how many brohoofs they have, you ask? Right under where it says how many brohoofs they've given, of course biggrin.png Under the 'Stats' option in the column bar.

Yup. Right under where it says 'Brohoofs given'. It'd be perfect, would make more organizational sense, and it would no longer look like a braggy, judgmental sort of thing users eyes' are drawn to pay attention to when they look at profiles.

This has been brought up before among the staff (albeit a while ago), and it's been mentioned a few times in slightly related topics, but I was bored and decided to make a modern, focused suggestion topic for it, that everyone can reply to about as well.

NOT MY ONLY PRIDE AND JOY D;

I don't know why it should be removed, then again, i don't know why it should be kept.

But, eeh, i rather keep it, it's green ; v ;

I was just worried you guys would remove it before I reached 1000 brohoofs.

It's probably an idea who's time has come.  If it's not demoted to a footnote in the stats page, it should at least get the same font and size as the number of counted posts.  Isn't everybody who has more than 100 excellent anyway?  I guess 1000 is more excellent and 10000 is super excellent?

Then again, CD, there are guys like you with Dragonball like numbers...glad to see you're actually in favor of this.  laugh.png

The only reason that I use brohoofs is so I can see who enjoyed what I posted. It would free up space on the profile to get rid of it.

Slay it, sir, slay it!

What's so bad about the brohoof counter? All it does is show people how many likes you've gotten on all of your posts, it's nothing special really. You have likes and subscribers on Youtube, nobody complains about that. You have likes on Facebook, nobody complains about that. But if there's likes on MLP Forums all of the sudden it's a problem? Seems like a dissonance to me.

If somebody really feels superior/inferior to another member simply because they have more "Likes" then them, that that person really should:

A- Grow a thicker skin, just because a member has more/less likes than them, doesn't make them superior/inferior to them.

B- Post posts that are good enough to get people to go out of their way and hit that brohoof button.

I think it would be better if individual members had the option to disable the brohoof system, and maybe keep their brohoof counter hidden on their profile if they so desire. After all, you can already hide recent visitors and friends, how much harder could it be to hide the brohoof counter too?

But I'm a stat braggard and the removal of such a thing would be a big blow to my ego. What else could it be for than to boost my ego and give off bragging rights?

(In all seriousness, I'm all for this suggestion)

I like it personally, dunno why, I just do. I suppose I wouldn't mind if it was removed though, putting the number where you suggested seems like a pretty good idea anyway I guess.

Dude...no. My brohoof count is something I am proud of, it is an achievement that I would like to be shown on my profile. It's fine the way it is, why change it???

But I was planning to screencap the 19,999...

I can see the reasoning behind it. While older members generally won't pay much to it, some of the newbies might get intimidated by the older members. It won't do anything nice if they started to look down upon themselves when they failed to meet the "brohooves quota" or something absurd like that.

The fancy counter serves no purpose but to look, well, fancy. If anyone wants to know if his or her posts are appreciated or liked, he or she can wait for the brohoof notifications or go check the posts individually.

So, +1 support on this

Yes, yes, yes! Get rid of the damn thing. I'm saying this as someone who has nearly three times as many brohoofs as posts. It's little more than a ego meter used to show off e-peens. Its removal is way overdue.

I fully support brohoofs for individual posts, but I'm am decidedly against the giant green monstrosities on the profile and hoverbox. The brohoof system is a great way to show support for a post or user, but it is not an effective measure of a user's posting ability, particularly as many well-written posts sometimes go entirely ignored in favor of a dirty joke or a Feld0 post next door.

I never really paid much attention to that thing, but it also doesn't really bother me..

I support this anyways.

You could just move it under posts, so it's just in a place somewhere, but equally as important as other things like time joined and gender and shit and stuff.

It's in the pop up window for users in topics and alike. Don't think that one is any issue. I just don't think there's any point to have the huge hulking one in your main profile.

@@~Chaotic Discord~, what I mostly mean is putting it under Community Stats then, so it's not as big, it will still be under the same page and still be visible enough. but no different fonts or backgrounds or nicely styled rounded corners.

Works far better in the Stats tab, imo. Where the other brohoof stat is. I don't see what's so hard about clicking one tab option, it can't be that big a deal to find xP

I would say no, because you are placing it with a variety of miscellaneous other stats that generally aren't of major importance or impact (the amount of topics created or polls voted in), those additional stats are there for posterity, but I doubt, many people will are all that interested in those. brohooves in this context, or better yet the likes constitute something bigger. than those. It would underplay the significance and value of having it there. People honestly care somewhat about the amount they have received. Just like the amount of posts they made and such. These are more important pieces of information and I feel they should be placed together.

I do still agree with the idea that they don't need a giant shiny green button, and making it somewhat smaller would be better. But moving it away in a corner of shame isn't necessary. Also a thing you may not wish to deal with is the backlash of people who won't be able to find it at all anymore. But that's more eh.

I generally feel it is best suited near post total. Maybe right beneath it. So Community Stats can look more like a spreadsheet. Everyone loves spreadsheets amirite?

Don't get me wrong though it's not that I don't find it useful, I just hate looking or even glancing at it now.  If I am forced to use it I have a basic (I'd say a more than basic) understanding of how to use spreadsheets.  I hate using them but I can use formulas and am familiar with the basic formulas.

As someone who once held the title of most brohoofs during the forums' infancy, I say

AW HELL NAW

Yeah!

I have this suggestion to make it better:

img-1449484-1-AE7dvq6.gif

@@~Chaotic Discord~,

Seriously though, I have always wondered why the counter says "Good, Excellent"...etc under the counter. It makes me feel like it means "500 brohooves, you're now an excellent member"

It's not like I WANT it to be removed, but I don't really care that much if you really wanted to remove it. Though I would like to see how many brohooves I've gotten somewhere, so you better put that in the user stats.

...Though the perfect solution would be to make it brown.

If you do this I request you to do something for us, please oh please put Steam, XBL and PSN in contact information. I'm still annoyed by the fact that you (staff people) think it's unnecessary.

I could really care less, I never actually look at it.

Though, it's green...

Eh, it's not like I want it gone, but go ahead and move it.

"Kill it! Kill it!" - Elf, on Bravest Warriors

That thing is just ugly. I don't give any attention to it. It brags to people dat your posts awesome and your awesome. And it gives shame to the people who look at it everyday to see if there brohooves have gone up. I'm all in for it to be taken away. All we need is the stats.
