What Ever Happened to Rainbow Dash and the Wonderbolts?

After watching Wonderbolt Academy for the 100th time, I'm still confused as to why her status in the group was never brought up again.  What happened after the episode?  Did she become some sort of trainee, or something different?  Any insight would be great!

For example, it took Trixie a full two seasons to make her appearance for a second time, and between Read It and Weep and the next Daring Do reference, in Too Many Pinkie Pies, there was an entire season.

It was just a week long training camp for pegasi that -might- have a chance of becoming Wonderbolts at some point. I imagine they test the pegasi's speed, agility, level-headedness and other factors, as they did in the episode, and then after the week is done, the Wonderbolts look over the results and get back to the trainees at a later date.

 

Ergo, we might see more of this situation in S4, and probably will.

Yes, in Too Many Pinkie Pies, when Rainbow Dash invited Pinkie Pie to the pool party, she was reading a Daring Do book.

A cliffhanger, I found some clues about the ending, she gets back home to the mane 6 because the week that she was in the academy was up. Anyway, that's my clues on that cliffhanger.

Well seeing as it was only a week long training camp, it was most likely just to see if these pegasus had what it took to become wonder bolts.

 

I heard from someone who reviewed the episode, that they had a deleted scene that kinda told more about if RD made it in or not.

It's just too soon to revisit it. Look at Discord,they brought him back the season after,same with Trixie,and we haven't seen Rarity go back to Canterlot yet either for Fancy Pants.

 

Just give it time, can't rush good things. I'm sure there will be more Wonderbolt and Dashie action next season. Not everything has to happen at once. Patience young Skywalker.

She did, but then Spitfire made Dash  a Lead pony and kicked Lightning Dust out.

 

It was near the end of the episode, and Dash did her "OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH" after being promoted to lead pony

The entire episode was just a training camp, but I think it's a good step in the right direction that Rainbow will become a Wonderbolt eventually. I bet there will be an episode about her and the Wonderbolts in Season 4.

I'm pretty much guessing this but maybe she attends the academy every week to spend more time with her friends. She currently isn't wing pony right now so she's pretty much happy with what she has in the academy.

My guess is next step she's gonna be working with the Wonderbolts side by side next.

Then officially becoming a wonderbolt, ending her main arc like Twilights was ended with Magical Mystery Cure.

Then she'll start a new arc. Maybe her newfound life with the Wonderbolts will create some drama and questions within herself.

I'll approach it like how I approached Twilicorn. Not the end. New beginning opening he door or greater challenges and stories to come from them.

Fancy Pant did actually appear in "Too Many Pinkie Pies", although he didn't have any lines. (a Pinkie duplicate was hiding under another Pinkie duplicate who was hiding under his bowler hat.)

It was a short lived training camp, it wasn't exactly a one way ticket to being a wonderbolt I don't think. I think its just to scout out possible new wonderbolt recruits.

 

I assume from Spitfires treatment during the end Rainbow will get a chance maybe in a later episode.

 

But I believe that the camp basically ended the day after or something.

I think it's still her dream. We probably won't be hearing about it for a while though, since season 3's over and season 4 won't be out for a while.

 

At the end of Wonderbolts Academy, Rainbow flies away with the rest of the Wonderbolts, so I think she's still interested in becoming one. I'm sure we'll hear more about it in season 4.

This is a really neat topic! I'm guessing that she's finished her training, and she's just waiting to see what the response is. I doubt she'll actually become a member of the Wonderbolts anytime soon, because that and Twilicorn together would just be too much. I hope she gets in sometime, though!

First off how come in Wonderbolts Academy so many people wanted to be Wonderbolts when there are only 3 of them, and also in Rainbow Falls Dash sacrifices her dream to fly with the Wonderbolts to fly for Ponyville, but in Testing, Testing, 1,2,3 she wants to become a Wonderbolt again, please explain. Also after Wonderbolts Accademy why wasn't she a Wonderbolt.

Honestly I thought she had been a wonderbolt. Spitfire gave rainbow a leader pin so that would mean she probably is but not in the main force. She is probably in the reserves.

Well, since RD went to the training camp and got the leader badge, I'm sure she got some special spot in the WonderBolts Academy. 

 

And I agree with others. I'm sure another episode relating to RD's status in the WonderBolts will come up soon. Maybe in season 5!

The actual team of  Wonderbolts consist of 12-13 ponies although only 6-7 or less ever perform at any one show. Since none of them are close to retirement or permanently injured, There are no open vacancies within the team itself but that doesn't mean they shouldn't train aspiring wonderbolts in the meantime. Plus the training probably is useful with weather ponies who can't fly as well as Rainbow Dash (or Lightning Dust. The other ponies were clearly struggling to fly in adverse weather conditions).

 

Rainbow's desire to give up her dream lasted until Spitfire admitted that the Wonderbolt Academy's ethos of performance over the well being of team mates was wrong and so restoring her faith in them which is tested again when they offer her a temporary spot on the team when Soarin takes an injury in Rainbow Falls and they had Soarin remain idle. Again the Wonderbolts put performance (Qualifying for the Equestria Games) over a team mate. 

 

Rainbow Dash has probably lost some admiration for the team after seeing they do have flaws, but RD still sees joining them as a worth while goal as they serve as inspiration to the younger generation of pegesi which is really what Rainbow aspires to be given how much values how Scootaloo sees her as both an idol and honorary big sister.
