Yes, but I think the government is stupid. The founding fathers would probably slap the current government if they were alive today.

I am not patriotic.

While I understand love for country or for its traditions, I misunderstand looking down upon other nations as if they are worse. They're not. But many patriots I know refuse to understand that simple fact and think of Poland as something superior (while in reality it is just a small country which still is years before its western neighbours). Also in some cases it got to the point where people started outright hating other nations, especially Germans and Russians for not reason except for history.

Also I see no point in loving country that just recently almost made my dad's company go bankrupt because of giant hole in law. We've received no apologies, nothing at all. Only empty threats from random jerk who used a hole in law to accuse my dad of committing terrible fraud without having even evidence or at least correct personal details. And to prove my dad guilty!

I think we should finally stop seeing us as different from other people. People in Germany, USA, Israel or Japan... they are same everywhere. You will find same nice people in every part of the world as well as same bad people. Only difference is culture, but culture has little to do with patriotism. Or personality. I love polish culture, but at the same time it is slowly dying as my own nation views it as something bad and instead starts blindly copying american trends.

If we will keep looking for ways to prove that "one nation is entirely different than other" instead of trying to understand that no mattter where we live we are not much different - we can never hope for a peace. Because politicians use such feelings to make one nation hate each other and that eventually leads to war. War in which they don't participate. Instead they send people who are brainwashed and believe that such slaughter is man's duty and that it is a matter of honor. Results can be easily seen in Ukraine, which is divided in two camps hating each other and some random neutral people who only want peace yet they can't get it, because separatists or Ukrainians are too dumb to understand that some people despise the war and see it as total foolishness to support it.

So, love for culture, traditions - by all means. But patriotism - not for me.

I understand that England has lots and lots of problems (no countries perfect at the end of the day) but I wouldn't want to be from any where else.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy moaning as much as the next English person...but I also like to remind myself that this country has a lot of perks as well- It's got a stunning countryside, a rich fascinating history, beautiful architecture both old and new, a great sense of humor and a unique culture that is entirely our own. I also enjoy how secular our media and schools are.

so yeah I guess you could say I'm patriotic... I mean I just generally feel very privileged to be live in a first world country.

Not really, the closest I come to that is when morons hate on British people(or anyone in western countries for that matter)because we are all evil quote on quote oppressors. Beyond that I hate the government the obsession with the royals the football idiots etc etc.

Especially as all three have been fairly shite, though Switzerland has been pretty cool so far.

I am very much on the side of the OP. I don't need to reiterate what they said so I am going to say that and then some is why I am not patriotic. I highly respect the veterans, but as far as this country as a whole, it's too messed up for me even begin to like it. Plus, I hate war; there is no need for human greed and selfishness to allow for the death of millions in this worlds history.  Before we go into WWII and Hitler and Stalin and stuff, please remember that it was their greed that started it. War is ALWAYS started by greed. Putting the facade of patriotism upon such deplorable reasoning only creates death and brokenness. Sadly, even if one country is honest, another will not be :(

To be honest I'm not all that patriotic towards my country, heck! I don't even know my own national anthem.

But it's a great place, and I think it deserves to be shared. Each country has its pros and cons.

I'm pretty lucky, and I sure am grateful for it.  :D

I'm not very patriotic of my country. Possibly from doing the pledge of allegiance in school every morning that I faked every moment of it (sure there's a lot more that did too). I would like to move somewhere else. The world is bigger than the place I live in.

You ponies know South Korea president? yeah, I hate her. And why? She got elected because she was a DAUGHTER of old president of South Korea. She doesn't have SKILLS. Also, there was a big ship accident, she just sat down and watched a movie.

I just... don't like her.
