So I'm pretty bored most of the time and lack friends, so I was thinking, why not put my kik on mlp forums, and so as of posting this topic I have, feel fre to pop up to me or post your own user on here :3 be a friend ~powercell09~

Kik is a smartphone messaging service like BBM or Facebook chat, but an independent and well thought out app.. (Just to clear up confusion an whatnot~ )

EDIT: its also a clothes-market thingy over here in germany. They have the reputation of selling the worst and cheapest clothes EVER. ( It even goes as far as having a saying, that thieves, that steal from kik are doing work.)

Not everyone has a cellphone - my boyfriend decided specifically that he was sick of cellphones and just goes without a phone entirely, so I use Google Hangouts to get in touch with him.  (Plus, I also use it on my computer, so it just kinda makes sense to use it on my phone)

3. Some people don't make heavy use of their phone and/or cannot afford a regular plan and are thus stuck on prepaid accounts... as such they may have to pay for every text received and/or sent - making SMS less than ideal for rapid-fire chit chat.

4. I prefer to only give people my phone number that I trust a great deal, whereas instant message accounts are much easier to walk away from if I end up getting tackled by a ton of people that I don't want to deal with.

That said, does Kik offer any advantages over services like Skype? I make heavy use of it on both my PC and phone - in many cases it serves as my primary source of IM communication.

I prefer it over both sms and skype (on the phone).

 

Skype for the phone lags sometimes and when you get lots of notifications it can take a while to load. Plus, you have to login and stuff.

normal text messages costs money, kik runs through the internet and is therefore free. I have unlimited data so that is perfect for me.

 

my kik username shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

I wish people would stop saying kik on a phone is stupid, cuz im gonna tell you why it's not

 

~What if you can't have a phone contract? For a long time, i didn't have a sim card in my phone (don't ask)

~What if they don't have a phone? My phone is currently *cough cough* not working, and i use kik on my tablet (Which i'm on now)

~What if you don't wanna give out your number? I sure wouldn't i get creepy enough texts on kik, besides, if you have a number, you can track people to where they are

~I live in canada. You think it's free to text someone in hawii?

~You can't stop someone from texting. You CAN block someone on kik, and report them
