movies/tv Favorite Pixar and Dreamworks movie?

What is your favorite movie from Pixar and/or Dreamworks? Please explain why.

Mine is simple:

Pixar - WALL-E, because it is the best love story I have ever seen. Ever.

Dreamworks - Rise Of The Guardians, because even though there are some things we can't see, that doesn't mean it's not real.

Well for pixar; I don't really like animated movies but there is one made by pixar that I liked. Wall-E.

For Deamworks, Saving Private Ryan, American Beauty is pretty good, the American The Ring Remake, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. (No I don't like any of their animated ones)

My favorite Dreamworks has to be The Prince of Egypt. It was one of their first animated films and to this day, one of their most powerful. It's also one of the only biblical films that I actually like.

My second favorite is How to Train your Dragon, which is also incredible.

I'm not actually a huge fan of Pixar, but if I had to choose, I guess i'd go for Toy Story 1/3, and perhaps either The Incredibles or Wall-E.

For Pixar, I like the original Toy Story the most. biggrin.png

For Dreamworks, I'm really not a big fan of the animated stuff I've seen from them. Pop culture humor has become the biggest crutch of lazy comedy writers and they use way too much of it in their 'family' films. But Over the Hedge was all right.

From Dreamworks, it would have to be How To Train Your Dragon. It's one of the only films I've ever willingly saw more than once in theaters.

From Pixar, that's a harder choice. I guess I'll go with Cars. I have a strange soft spot for that movie and I don't really know why.

I prefer Pixar's movies, to be honest. ;)

Pixar - Up. This movie is just brilliant. It remains to be the only Pixar film to ever make me cry, and I'm a big girl who doesn't cry a lot. A movie has to be really touching to make me shed a tear. The characters are unforgettable, the action and adventure keeps you on the edge of your seat, and it is just perfect from start to finish. I can't really put this movie into words because it's simply a masterpiece. Oh, and Dug. Dug is the cutest character to ever grace a Pixar film. Up is just incredible, and that's saying a lot given Pixar's track record of stunning films (Okay, Cars 2 was awful, but I think I can look past one blunder).

Dreamworks - How To Train Your Dragon. I'm not a huge fan of Dreamworks movies because they tend to be a lot sillier and more over the top than Pixar's films which are much more heartfelt and beautiful. HTTYD is an exception. It's still very funny and entertaining through and through, but the characters are much more likable and there's a surprising amount of depth to the plot. It has action, comedy, even some romance, and the animation is superb. I'm looking forward to the sequel! :)

I actually love Dreamworks better than Pixar. Dreamworks has higher standards for themselves while Pixar has been toning it down these past few years.

Dreamsworks' very best is Shrek 2 because this sequel expanded upon Shrek and Fiona's epic love story with realistic relationship problems that meld perfectly with the fantasy world they established for it. How to Train Your Dragon follows close second for being ground breaking in cinematic story, fantasy and simple lovableness.

Pixar's best is Toy Story because the impact of such an emotionally powerful story doesn't age, even if the animation does. Sadly, Pixar doesn't doesn't seem to make movies like that anymore.

I'm not the biggest fan of either to be honest, but I have enjoyed many of their films.

Pixar: A Bug's Life. It looks like I'm the only who has mentioned this so far. It has to be my favourite childhood movie. I must have watched it a gazillion times. Such a great film, although I think it was a bit underrated due to Toy Story coming out around the same time.

Disney: Kung Fu Panda. I really liked these films. The voice cast was amazing. And the story was quite gripping and fun. It was hard to choose between this and Madagascar.

Ugh, for Pixar I can't choose! Either Up or The Incredibles. Or maybe Ratatouille. Gosh, I can't pick!!

As for Dreamworks, probably Road to El Dorado. I LOVE that film, it's funny and beautifully animated with some fantastic voice acting. Plus, I'm a sucker for a good bromance. :derp:

Ooh, wait, I nearly forgot about How To Train Your Dragon! That is an incredible film, gorgeously animated and wonderfully told!

Pixar: Toy Story Trilogy

When I can watch all three movies in a row without beong bored then they all deserve to be here. I also really enjoyed the halloween special.

Dreamworks 3D: How to Trian Your Dragon

One of 2010's best movies. I really hope HtTYD2 is just as good, if not better.

Dreamworks 2D: The Prince of Egypt

If they could make a live action adaption of this and add in more of the story and characters from the Ten Commandments then that would be wonderful.

Pixar: The Incredibles, for the energetic direction, the retro John Barry-esque score, and because it's one of the few animated comedy films that takes its conflict seriously and creates a genuine sense of danger for the action scenes. It outdoes most live action superhero movies out there.

(I would have chosen Wall-E, but while I think the first 30 minutes of that movie are the best thing Pixar has ever done, it drops in quality as it goes along and gets too preachy for my taste)

Dreamworks: I haven't watched it in a long while so I don't know how up-to-date this opinion is, but I think it's The Prince of Egypt. Few mainstream animated films contain visual and aural artistry on this level. I can listen to Deliver Us anytime and get chills. It does suffer a tad from some really out-of-place slapstick humor, though.
