Why wasn't Dr Whooves in this thing?

I mean COME ON! Dr. Whooves is one of the most popular background ponies on the Internet. Why would they NOT give him an appearance (unless of course, they're implying that he really is The Doctor, than in that case of course he wouldn't be in in the movie, he's too busy with his own show)

I think the writers didn't want to include too many background ponies, so they had to save him for the comics instead of the movie.

Or at least they don't own the rights to put him in the movie, due to the resemblance of looking like David Tennant's doctor.

Probably because Dr. Whooves is a fan name for a pony who sort of resembles David Tennant's doctor.

Hasbro does not own any rights to Dr. Who and it would probably be hella expensive to buy enough rights to feature him as a character in their show.

Other background ponies from famous films and stuff that are referenced in the show probably were used because they have different clauses and loop holes which allowed the likeness of the characters to be represented without legal liability O:

Well, his official name is actually Dr. Hooves without the W and I was just wondering why they didn't give him a cameo. A reference could have been made at least. In the comics there are multiple references to Dr. Who such as Dr Hooves having the Sonic Screwdriver on a few occasions and him showing a stopwatch to Derpy and saying "This watch is me" so there's no reason they couldn't have made a reference at the very least. But hey, in the end I guess it is THEIR show and they can do whatever the f$&@ they please. So sorry everypony for complaining.

He has no official name, since it was never stated by Hasbro, or the creators. If they made that official, it would cause a legal shitstorm, and they'd end up scrapping him entirely. His name was given to him by fans, and is not official.

In the My Little Pony mobile app game and in the card game his name is Dr Hooves so yeah his names officially Dr. Hooves not "Whooves" but "Hooves". Like Derpy or Lyra, his name was adopted from the fans by Hasbro. Edited by Shenron00

Then they're treading on very thin ice, unless Hasbro declares they have no affiliation with those.

Because of copy right i would assume, they'd get sued before you could turn around if they put him on the show, the way people sue left and right now a days.

His name was actually "Time Turner" at one point, but then the fans dubbed him Dr Whooves and then Hasbro officially renamed him and took away the W so they don't get sued by BBC

I have no real knowledge on the Dr. Who fandom, but it still depends on the people in charge of Dr. Who. There's alot of creators out there who have an iron grip on their products, that even something that could lead to it, is attacked.

I know, I just thought that while we were discussing Dr. Hooves' name I may as well tell people about his original name, Time Turner (glad they changed it by the way)

There is no copyright infringement as the name is different enough to be legitimate... Dunno why anyone is pushing that idea... Even Whovians will tell you its "Doctor Who", NOT "Dr. who". (I've been vehemently corrected on this :P )

Dr. hooves is his official name though.
They have mini figures of him and load of other merchandise

For proof, Hasbro manufactured minis including Dr. Hooves!

As for his lack of appearance in the movie.. no idea. maybe at the time it just wasn't considered?

Well first I have to say, I have the rainbow party kit (bro hoof!)

Next I have to say there are more secondary ponies they should've worried more about like cadence and shining armour

I think Cadance and Shining Armor would be at least college students in the EG world and it would be hard to put them in a movie that took place in a high school. Everyone just forget this thread existed. I asked a dumb question without thinking of an answer myself. Sorry for wasting everypony's time.

He was right here. It was small, I know. Anyone could've missed. it missed it at first.

So, yeah. You're welcome. You no longer have to wonder about Doctor Whooves in Equestria Girls
