Stupid things you believed when you were younger

Tell us some stupid things you believed when you were younger.

One thing I believed when I was younger was: that if I swallowed a watermelon seed that a watermelon would grow inside me.

EDIT: I've changed the title to "Stupid things you believed when you were younger" Rather than "What are some stupid things you believed as a 5 year old?" I think you'll find it more applicable.

I dunno, that was so long ago. I was also pretty down-to-earth as a child and understood things subconsciously even if I didn't fully understand overall. Like I had an inherent understanding of the difference between reality and fantasy.

I often thought about how some things were possible. One time someone did the "removing a thumb" trick and I believed it at the time but literally days later I realized it was a trick. I knew it was some kind of hand trick.

That isn't to say I understood everything though. I honestly couldn't tell you anything stupid or wild I believed back then. Horrible memory is horrible.

This is tricky... I don't think I can even remember that far back! (But hey, I'm not that old :P lol)

Anyway, when I was around the age of 5, I sort of remember thinking that polar bears didn't exist because I briefly forgot what they were... >___>;;

Thanks to Toy Story, I thought that my toys talked to one another while my back was turned.

I thought death meant going away on a long trip but the person would come back soon.

I couldn't tell the difference between a pregnant women and a fat women. Once i went up to some lady and asked if she was pregnant. she wasn't to happy. I also thought that being a soldier, and fighting in wars, and america is completely bucking awesome up till second grade. then my mom informed me that even Americans die in wars.

I actually came up with explanation to how wind works that I think is pretty reasonable for someone not understanding about the effects of warm and cold air. the earth spins but the air stays in place. it feels like it's moving because really you are. kind of like holding your hand out of a car. the air seems to whoosh on by but really your speeding through it. the reason the air went in all of these directions and not just one way is because air would be pushed by all the rough surfaces of the earth, dividing and guiding air this way and that. I believed that till sixth grade.

I thought that all of Europe was Michigan. and that the USA was really Washington state.

Once while taking a bath, the water drained even though the drain was plugged, so I though that my belly button sucked up all the water.

I thought Italy was somewhere over Kansas, and that's where Disney Land was; I used to think there were multiple Santa Claus-es (makes sense right? Can't have just onnnee Santa); used to think there was a Santa Claus; used to believe "killed" when reading tornado statistics meant seriously injured (basically, it meant being f****d), as opposed to permanently dead (I think I was aware of what death was though).

-Women had babies by kissing.

-If you eat a can of spinach you will instantly get muscles.

-I could run faster than a car if I really tried to.

-If a spider bit me then I would become spider man.

All I could think of right now.

At home we had two Aladin movies, where one of them were called Aladin returns or something. I believed that if we watched the other aladin movie nothing happened. But when we watched aladin returns,a new Aladin episode would air the next day. Hence Aladin RETURNS. :D

I also thought the hazard lights were a self destruct button

I thought that when people died, doctors brought them back to life and that was what hospitals were for.

I thought my home town was the only location that humans inhabited

I thought I could throw my 12 year old brother to the moon.

I thought a magical fairy put babies into women's wombs and that was how babies were made.

One day I wished for a my little pony toy set(G3) and the next day I found said toy set underneath a desk. I believed in fairies and all that jazz for quite some time because of that incident. Ugh.

-I had a morbid fear of cars for a week. We couldn't round a corner without me screaming at the top of my lungs.

I actually thought there were little Oompa Loompas inside the television screen performing for me.

Charlie and the chocolate factory gave me nightmares

-That the Disney princesses were inside the drain of my shower.

I thought everyone lived to be exactly 100 years old.

I thought the Parker Brothers were door-to-door salesman selling Monopoly.

On a more serious note, I was five when 9/11 happened. My parents never told me what actually happened so I didn't find out until much later.
