movies/tv Bad Episodes of Good Cartoons

All right so I watched a video by someone named cartoon hero called top 10 bad episodes of good cartoons as well as me enters animated atrocities series, which inspired me to make this thread. So was there ever a cartoon you like that had that one episode that you didn't want to watch again or never want to talk about. All right here's mine. Ed Edd n Eddy- If it smells like an Ed- In this mystery themed episode, the eds get framed for ruining friendship day and they try to get their names clear. This seems like an interesting premise that was horribly executed. The culprit turned out to be Jimmy, who wanted revenge for a wedgie that Eddy gave him at the beginning of the episode. The problem is that only Eddy did that and double d and Ed did nothing, yet they were framed. Also they don't even clear their names. The episode ends with the eds getting dragged off by the Kankers. The only sort of pay back jimmy got was slipping on a banana peel. Not quite enough. South Park- Stanley's cup- Stan coaches a hockey team of preschoolers in order ticket money for a new bike. Also there I a kid with cancer on the team who would die if they lost. The main problem is the ending, where they have to face a pro hockey team who beats them up with every bloody detail and the team loses and the kid dies. I get it was supposed to be a parody but to me it came of as extremely mean spirited ad cruel. Foster's Hone for imaginary friends- everyone knows it's bendy- a new friend comes to the house and starts doing bad stuff and blames the main characters on them and no matter what they do, they can't expose him. Also Frankie and herinan don't believe them even though they trust some of them. The biggest problem was it ended with bendy winning. To add insult to injury, the episode was written by Lauren Faust. She even regretted writing it. Seriously I heard she apologized for it. All right discuss away!

"It Ain't Easy Being Breezies" and "Rainbow Falls" of MLP are both pretty bad. The first being boring, annoying, and G3-Feel-ish, while the latter making no sense and just being frustrating to watch. I don't feel like going into too much detail currently, but they're certainly not ones I want to go near again.

Does Spongebob or Simpsons count as a "Good Cartoon" when only the first half of it's run was any good?

Because I used to be able to say "These are the bad episodes of the Simpsons and Spongebob".  Now it's "These are the bad seasons of Simpsons and Spongebob"

I want to say they are good cartoons but their later halves hurt the integrity of the classics.   :okiedokielokie:

Teen Titans - Mother Mae-Eye - In the middle of a really serious season, this episode was completely pointless, had no backstory, and was actually pretty disturbing in general.

Teen Titans - Things Change - This was the last episode and I didn't like the way they ended the series. There were so many unanswered questions and it was kind of depressing.

Static Shock - Hoop Squad - The only bad episode in the series, but it was really bad. I won't go into detail, but it featured NBA players as power ranger type super heroes. Yeah. >_>

MLP - The Mysterious Mare Do Well, Mmmystery of the Friendship Express

Regular Show - Best Burgers in the World

Spongebob - Most post movie episodes, but Atlantis Squarepantis and A Pal For Gary deserve special mentions. Best Day Ever was overhyped crap too

King of the Hill - the Diminished Glutes episode, despite having a classic line by Cotton("Good god you're wearing butt boobies!")

Don't even get me started on the squid ward torture prom episodes. They're just 11 minutes of squid ward being tortured by spongebob and they expect us to laugh at that.

... I think I've ranted enough on Ponyville Confidential that you all know I want it burned to the ground, so I'll hold out there.

- Every episode of Spongebob post-movie. I am literally unable to think of a single exception.

- Gravity Falls has Boss Mabel. A very unfortunate example of butchering some really good characters solely for the sake of plot. My GOD. I could write essays on how badly it screwed up Wendy in under five minutes.

- For Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy, there's that one episode where everyone started breaking the rules because of Eddy's influence. The sheer lack of any moral value, even as a kid, infuriated me. I mean, yes, I get it, that's life, and jokes like that are the norm for the show, but this episode in particular ended so, SO bitterly, opposing all of my beliefs I had as a child, and even hold now.

Also, that one where Jimmy got them framed as bad guys. Made me so mad then, makes me even angrier now.

- Just about everything in Adventure Time post-Flame Princess. I wasn't a big fan of what it originally was, but at least it wasn't... what it became. Sorry, but for me now, the show's only even-slightly redeeming factor is the dynamic between Princess Bubblegum and Marceline, which IS pretty cute, I admit.

... Probably others, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

Rainbow Falls (MLP:FIM):

Bulk = too many annoying one-liners.

Spitfire = OOC.

Twilight = hypocrite (*Forces Dash to choose a team despite herself not choosing with the Gala ticket.*).

Dash = Wonderbolts Academy lesson relearned.

Your Ed Here (Ed, Edd N Eddy):

Kevin uses blackmail to humiliate Eddy for no reason and gets away with it, then Eddy sells Double D out just to save himself (instead of, you know, finding something to blackmail Kevin back with).

Here's another one.

Life of Brian from Family Guy: Family Guy can't even do a tragic death with tact. They played stuff up for laughs when they  really shouldn't have, Quagmire I get doesn't like Brian, but could he at least show just a little sympathy for his friend's dog. To top it off, it was just a ratings trap to make Family Guy relevant again since they would bring him back a few weeks later.

One I forgot to mention:

The Great Divide - Avatar The Last Airbender

The most boring, dull, slow, and pointless episode as far as both TLA and LOK are concerned

I think I can name a few...

  • South Park: Trapped in the Closet
  • My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: Boast Busters
  • Family Guy: Life of Brian
  • The Simpsons: The Principal and the Pauper
  • Hey Arnold: Arnold Betrays Iggy
  • Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends: Everyone Knows it's Bendy
  • SpongeBob Squarepants: Atlantis Squarepantis... and pretty much every episode after that
  • Powerpuff Girls: Town and Out

That's all I can think of at the moment

Basically every newer Spongebob episode...

I can't really think of any old Spongebob episodes that were bad, although I'm sure there were some that weren't as good as others.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a bad episode, but one of the reasons the network stopped showing Invader Zim was the episode "Dark Harvest".  It aired on April 20th, 2001 and was written by Eric Trueheart and Rob Hummel.  The episode is about Zim stealing organs from the other children.  That is probably why the network didn't like it.  It was on a kids show, and let's face it, people back then (cause 2001 was so long ago) were more sensitive to letting their kids watch stuff like that.  I don't know, I really like the episode.

  • 2 weeks later...

Dope & Faith (American Dad!):

Stan: Oh, no! My new best friend's an atheist! I have to get him to embrace God somehow! Hmm... I know! I'll completely ruin his life in order to humble him! It's not like he'll attempt suicide and become a Satanist instead or anything!

Ed, Edd, N' Eddy- The Episode where Doube "D" is thought to be "dangerous" from all those accidents that caused the kids to get hurt and Eddy and Ed nearly left the friendship. Like....that was a little pointless for me, probably enjoyable for others, but for me..it was pointless...Even then, I didnt much like the season where the Eds and the kids all were back in school and the episodes took place ONLY in school...and it just showed that THEY WERE the only humans that existed in the school...

Courage the Cowardly Dog- When he turned into a Fly. I dont know why, but it bored me....a lot

SpongeBob- When him and Sandy went to the "Karate island" That..was just an awful episode. And from then on, I noticed SpongeBob got worse...to me.

Teen Titans- Where Beast Boy found Tara, but she did not remember nothing. I just disliked it. Come on, leave Tara alone..I just hated the whole process of her under control from Slade...

-Foster's home- Where they found that imaginary friend who actually looked like a human, with a clown nose and funky clothes. Yeah, sure, at the end , he was an imaginary friend, but...I just found it boring.

-Dexter's lab- Where everyone got sick and had those germs. One, it just disturbed me as a kid and two, I didnt like it as well as the others...

However, its one saving grace was Eddy telling the Kankers off when they tried to rub salt in Double D's wounds.

All right I thought of more

Pokemon- The Semi-final frontier- If you don't watch the Pokemon anime, then Ash basically has to lose the league in every region. For the most of it, they do it fairly. However, the way he lost the Sinnoh league was very unfair. Ash basically had to face this trainer who had a Darkrai. First off, how the heck did that trainer get a legendary Pokemon. Usually if a trainer has one, they have a back story explaining how they got it. This one, they didn't even explain he just had one. It breezes through most of his team until Ash finally takes it out. You think that be an accomplishment but no, the trainer then throws out a Latios. What I'm saying is that this trainer is pretty much a Mary Sue. Since he didn't have any development or talk about himself with a backstory, neither was he ever mentioned again, it makes the ending a debes ex ma-china (I hope I'm saying it right).

I never mentioned fim because even in episodes that are not that great, I can still find enjoyment out of it. Even thought the plot and execution of Rainbow Falls was poorly put together, there were stuff I liked about it.

Spongebob- Boating Buddies/Choir Boys/Good Neighbors/ Squid's Visit/House Fancy/Slide Whistle Stooges- SQUIDWARD ABUSE IS NOT FUNNY!

South Park- Ass Burgers- As someone with autism, this episode was kind of hard for me to sit through. First off, they say that autism doesn't exist and that it's just a disguise for being cynical. Also it was part of a 2 prater involving Stan's parents getting divorced, which was wrapped up in an even more rushed fashion than Magical Mystery Cure. And there was a lame sub plot of Cartman selling burgers from his butt.

Mlp: Putting your hoof down- of all the episodes of MLP, none of the other episodes were as unbearable to watch as this one was. Fluttershy is one of my favorite ponies and to see her twisted to such a degree is painful.

Sonic SatAM: Both of the Antoine shorts- One of the best shows that only ran for two seasons was bound to have a stinker. The writers take a break from the compelling plot to give us comedic shorts around the most disliked character, and guess what? They FAIL!

Spongebob: The Splinter/ Every Squidward torture episode- What can I say? SQUIDWARD TORTURE IS NOT FUNNY ANYMORE!!!!!

I've never seen Invader Zim but that plot line seems like it belongs in the Invader Zim version of Cupcakes lol
