gaming Worst game in your favorite gaming series

Out of any of your favorite gaming series, like...Mario, Star Fox, Pokemon, Kingdom hearts, Legend of Zelda, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, etc, etc, etc, what has been the worst game they have made that was a total disappointment?

I have a few...

I really loved/love Banjo Kazooie. There has been 3 major games and a few spin-offs. Honestly, Nuts and bolts for the 360 disappointed me. Not only did it make me unhappy that Rare ware moved to Microsoft, the game play was annoying. Sure, those graphics were pretty cool, the levels were cool, but the whole time you had to be on a machine was horrible. Why couldn't you just be Banjo and Kazooie??

I also LOVED the Star Fox series. Played just about every game. I love Star Fox so much. I liked all of the games except for Star Fox Command on the DS. The story line was a disappointment, and I hated the game play. I found it difficult, and obnoxious. They just messed everything up in it.

The Spyro series up until Spyro: A hero's tale. The legend of Spyro was okay, but they made the game play too "serious" and less childlike. Then, that Skylanders. Its not even Spyro anymore. It they made his appearance ugly and its not the same. I understand they try to change the games around sometimes, but Skylanders really stepped over the line.

I think it goes without saying that I love The Legend of Zelda. The Phantom Hourglass, however, was just... 290 different kinds of bad.

I bought that game, and I got rid of it like a couple levels into the game, I really didn't care for it :/

Halo 4... Not really my fave series. More like my second fave. buuut.. since my fave was awesome all the way (Quest for Glory FTW!!!)

MS went all out re-writing Halo history right down to re-writing the books just to acclimate this new enemy, and writing new books to set it up better... Nixing the original writer to get the job done.

And the new armors that 343 designed.. OMFG.. what were they smoking?

even the female models for the game... like stick figures wearing body armor... just.. not right...

Jak X

Jak_X_-_Combat_Racing_Coverart.png

Jak X was just no... I loved the trilogy to death Jak 1 - 3 but this game did it in for me.

The sonic game series... After Sonic Adventure 2 the sonic games after have sucked big time.

Oh also COD modern warfare 2 and beyond... After playing Modern warfare 2 I got sick of the franchise because it was literally just copy and paste from the masterpiece Cod modern warfare back in 2007.

My favorite series: Wild Arms.

The worst game in the series: The first.

There are a lot of people who will disagree with me either because they think WA1 was the only good one in the series (which I call total bullshit on) or because a lot of people think WA4 is the worst (I love it)

My problem with WA1 is that it's simply too average compared to the rest of the series. Everything it does was improved upon in the second game. It's not a bad game just because it's the worst though, it's just that every other game did things better than this one.

I'm not an expert on videogames, but I know everything post-Year of the Dragon in the Spyro series is pretty awful, in my opinion >_>

It could've been more fabulous, but it really wasn't :D

I get you. I did like that game and all, but it was not nearly as fun as the first 2. The first 2 had a better story in my opinion.

Grand Theft Auto - The first one! Oh god it was terrible! horrendous controls, awkward top-down perspective, bad level design you get stuck all the time, there's no radar or map so you have to follow this arrow which will lead you into dead ends trying to follow it, no second chances on missions, you die in one hit, the graphics are bland and sometimes you can't really see what you bumped into. My god it's such a good thing that series has evolved in a big way since then, this first entry was just horrible!

lol.. First, second, and third (London) entries then :P

TBH GTA2 was the BEST imo. The co op/MP, the crazy weapons, and the fun times in LAN... back then, that game was AWESOME!!

modern GTA stick to much to the literal world.. no crazy electro guns or oddly placed world locations...

I'm probably gonna get a hate storm on me, but I just didn't like Grand Theft Auto 5. The city, compared to the last one, didn't really stand out to me. The countryside was alright though. I appreciate the effort put into the game. The graphics look STUNNING! :yay: But alas, this game just wasn't my cup of tea. I never felt compelled to 100% complete it, unlike the other GTA's.

I felt that the hype surrounding it was it's downfall.

Rockstar seemed more interested in GTA Online. Online was alright. It allowed for some fun and chaotic rampages with friends. But sometimes the loading times and the connection was really annoying. -_-

Zelda- I dunno, I could never really get into Zelda 2, it's just too hard. I actually like the DS ones, even though I've only rented them and never beat them.

Metroid- Other M I guess, although I find it somewhat fun it's not the truest Metroid game. Metroid 2 I can't really get into either, could really use a remake or something.

Pokémon- Pokémon Channel was some pretty useless garbage. Dunno what they were thinking with the Rumble series either. >_>

Resident Evil- I didn't like 3 when I played it, idr why. Everything I see concerning RE6 also makes me think I would hate it even though I haven't played it. And I can't even fathom what they were thinking when they made Operation Racoon City...

Monster Hunter- Frontier is a cancer on the series, a very seperate cancer but something unneccesary nontheless. I suppose Tri is pretty bad compared to 3 Ultimate now too, since it has so very few monsters and no longer has online play... it's very much obsolete. :okiedokielokie:

Mario- NSMB. I'm just not really fond of those games. :derp:

Animal Crossing - Animal Crossing: City Folk. The game was really mediocre. It seems like the only thing they put care into was the graphics. Practically everything else in the game suffered from poor execution.

Paper Mario - Paper Mario: Sticker Star. This game probably should rank lower than City Folk, because I would actually say it is bad. I don't know what went wrong during the development of the game, but I've pretty much given up on the series now. Sticker Star is one of the biggest drags of a game I've ever played... It's very sad considering how the first two titles in the series were amazing. But I guess that was all just a fluke.

Pokemon - Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. This is to a much lesser degree than the two titles mentioned above. But they were still disappointing games either way, and are still, by far, the lowest point in the entire series IMO.

Metroid: Other M.

Dear God, it was an atrocity. They built up the whole series painting Samus as this badass, likeable bounty hunter, and then they throw long, boring cutscenes your way that make her seem like a whiny little baby. It's disgraceful.

What's more, the concept of obtaining new abilities via authorization is completely retarded, mostly because the one giving the authorizations isn't even her employer or anything of the sort.

I'll give it this much: the gameplay was okay. I won't lie and say the gameplay was bad, but every other aspect of the game just ruins it.

If you have the time to watch it, these two pretty much cover why it was so bad via humorous commentary. They explained it better than I can, that's for sure.

I love Halo. Have all of the games (except Halo Wars), and have been a fan ever since I was a little kid playing Combat Evolved on the original Xbox (you know? the REAL "Xbox One" Microsoft!?)

Anyway, I agree that Halo 4 was disappointing. I don't think it's a bad game, in fact I think it's fun. It's just that, Reach set a really high bar for the amount of content a Halo game could have.

A campaign mode with great moments and sandbox gameplay, making it endlessly replayable? Check.

Addictive split-screen and online multiplayer that is endlessly customizable? Check.

Forge mode, theater mode, and...FIREFIGHT MODE!? CHECK!

No Firefight mode and "Spartan Ops" *gag reflex* are by far Halo 4's biggest offenses. This creates a serious lack of content. :(

Firefight added so much replay value. You can customize it any way you want, and just massacre waves of Covenant. And you didn't have to have an Xbox Live membership to enjoy it! Halo 4 ditches this great mode for Spartan Ops. Oh God, Spartan Ops... First off, yes, I realize this was intended to be played with friends. I get it...

BUT! If you give me the option to play by myself (which it does), then I expect some appropriate difficulty scaling. Does it do that? ABSOLUTELY NOT! There are hundreds of times you'll just walk into a room, then suddenly have like 35 thousand Prometheans just beam in and kill you. There's so many of them, you can barely react effectively! I spent more time getting angry with Spartan Ops than enjoying it. Oh, and you can't watch Campaign levels in Theater Mode.  >_> WOW, I apologize for the long post! I guess this was just sort of pent up lol

Apollo Justice ruined a lot of what was great about the original Ace Attorney trilogy. I don't know the whole story, but I think the writer was sort of forced to make another game and wasn't allowed to do it the way he wanted.

That doesn't mean I don't like it, it just wasn't as good as the other games in the series.
