What Awkward Moments Do You Know Too Well?

So, what are some awkward moments that you hate when they happen?

1. When there is a random silence and I pick up my phone and pretend to text someone.

2. When someone says something to me but I can't understand them. So, I just nod and laugh hoping whatever they said wasn't a question.

3. When I thought I saw someone waving to me, but they weren't. So I just pretend I was fixing my hair or checking my phone.

4. Holding the door open for someone far away and you're not sure if you should keep holding it or not.

5. When someone says "thank you" to me and I mess up my response by also saying "thank you".

6. Realizing mid-argument that I'm wrong, but I keep arguing anyway.

7. When I run into someone on the sidewalk and side-step them, but then they go the same way as me. Then we do it 7 more times until the requisite of awkward laughter.

Pretty much all of them. Number six is annoying.

What about when you start speaking to someone, and find out that they weren't even there, like they were there, but then the walked somewhere else and you didn't notice.

Talking to people and/or about things that you normally don't and are unsure if other people will even pay attention to what you say since it's not in-depth enough from no real knowledge of the subject.

I hate that. It's part of why I try not to repeat myself or say things that have already been said.

But I totally get the holding doors one and running into people and sidestepping into each other for like twenty seconds.

Also that awkward moment when you go silent because you don't know what to say and find out that people expect you to say something more.

:o  It's almost scary how accurate this list is, I completely relate to all of these. If I could brohoof this more than once I would.

The 2nd one is the most notable for me. It doesn't help that almost everyone I talk to has an accent I can't understand.

Oh, and if I may add one, one of the most awkward moments for me is when I respond to something someone said, and it turns out they were actually talking to someone else. Then they both just look at me.

When you meet someone for the first time, and later you have to introduce a third person to them, and you totally forget the name of the first person.

When you ask a large woman when the baby is due, and she replies, "I'm not pregnant."

Okay, the first one happens more often than the second one. :P

What about when you mishear someone and you think they said one thing, when actually they said another.

An example of that.

St the end of a school day a girl in my year said something, and I thought she said terrorist, so I said " what do you mean terrorists?" And everyone started laughing because she said nothing like that. And then one girl said " shut up adam, we all know your a racist."

So that was awkward and the other girl called me a racist, when I've never said anything race related in front of her, or even near her.

I know all of the ones you listed far too well.  :muffins:

I can't really think of any other moments. These ones pretty much sum up the awkward moments in my life perfectly.

A lot of them, but the one that I always notice without fail is when I put in the effort to speak and get no response. It doesn't help that I'm a bit paranoid about that particular occurrence, so I always have to wonder if I genuinely wasn't heard or I was ignored.

probably both, they were probably ignoring you and this didn't hear you. What happens to me. It's annoying isn't it.

I'm never one to assume either, it's not good for my health if I dwell on it too long. It is annoying, but again. Sooner I can get over it  the better.

I find it quite easy to get over it, since I get ignored at least two or three times a day.

I know all of these all to well ._. it's a pain. Especially  2 and 5. Those are the worst for me.

2 (especially when the person has a thick accent), 4 (not knowing whether or not the person is close enough), 7.

Additionally: pretending to text when passing world vision kiosks (they've caught me three times, I feel so awkward just walking away or interrupting to say I've heard the pitch already), talking steel with the dudes at a local knife store then remembering I am wearing a pony shirt and dog tag, having to mask a "block" as adjusting my glasses when someone nearby makes a sudden move, singing when alone then realizing I'm not alone, walking into class late with a Tim's cup in hand, trying to make small talk but failing to get past awkward comments about the weather.

Story of my life.....is it possible for one's entire existance to be awkward?

In high school (and the few years after high school until I got engaged), I was walked in on while having sex so many times I quite literally lost count. A lot of it was because one of my exes and I had a habit of doing it in places where there was that risk, but a lot of times it happened when I least expected it. It got to the point where it stopped being awkward for more than a few seconds to me. It's been three years since I was in a relationship, or had any interest from women at all, so I have no idea if this would still be the case.

I also really, really hate that awkwardness when annoying but harmless people start talking to me on the bus.

"Enjoy your meal, sir."

"Thanks, you too."

I HATE when that happens. I feel so stupid

Oh my god, that's so annoying, it happens to me all the time, and I even make it really obvious that I'm gonna go a certain way, but then they go the same way as me anyway, and I'm thinking like "are you freaking kidding me" and it's just really annoying :/

Recently I have had two of my closest male friends on here say "this may be odd" or "this may be awkward" followed by "But I love you"

I mean... it wouldn't be so awkward for me if I wasn't taken.. and if I didn't have a tendency to fall so easily

This might be awkward, but I want to wear your skin like a suit?

very awkward, but why would you want my icky skin?

The one I have now is wearing out, if I'm going to keep up my infiltration of your species for eventual conquest, I'm going to need a new skinsuit.
