Do you collect anything? How do you organize your collections?

So most of us will collect something at some point in our lives but if you collect something for long enough, That tiny collection on your bedroom shelf will become a HUGE mess.

We all have some idea of how we want our collections arranged (A-Z, Release date, Colour) and while it's a nostalgic task getting to look back at how far you've came since you first started collecting, It can also be a huge chore.

So I have a few questions..

What do you collect?

How big is your collection(s)?

And how do you keep them organized?

As for me, I collect vinyl records and have thousands, I also collect CDs, Retro games/consoles, Plushies and trading cards.

Organizing most of my collections is a simple task, apart from the records they would take around a week since I keep them stored at two different locations.

Here's a few blurry photos I took while arranging my CDs last year.

I collect computers, computer parts, computer peripherals, it's interesting.

how do I organize them? I throw the peripherals in a box, parts in another box.  Most powerful computer gets used the most and gets the 2 monitor setup. the most mobile computer gets to be used the 2nd most, since college. all the others are specialized one way or another.

1. I collect a myriad of things: Knives, Michael Myers masks, harry potter wands, lightsabers, replica guns, fossils/rocks, and Jurassic Park toys.

2. My Jurassic Park collection I've never taken an accurate tally of, but it's fairly decent sized. Beyond that, I have 14 wands, 14 lightsabers, 6 replica guns, 6 replica Myers masks, 18 knives, and 21 replica fossils.

3. I don't. Mostly, anyway. I have 6 of my wands displayed in a nice case, my 3 favorite sabers displayed on my bookshelf and TV stand, my favorite replica gun (an old west Scholfield) displayed on a stand, my favorite JP toys all around my desk, my favorite fossil replicas (a 6-inch Deinonychus claw replica, and a replica T. rex tooth) near my JP stuff, a couple of my more impressive knives displayed around my room, and all 6 of my Myers masks on display in shelving units. The rest I store away in my closet.

Here's some pics of what that looks like:

Sci-Fi / Fantasy books that I have enjoyed, and then I slowly collected. (The first 3 from the Ender series are with my sister, and the first 2 from Harry Potter are with a friend right now) [2 shelves]

Various Rubik's Cubes (6)

I order my books chronologically within their own timelines, but they're just on the shelves by size.

I just put my cubes on a shelf.

My MTG cards in the four boxes are in decks, the rest in the drawer are separated by Mana color and alphabetized within each color.

I have some games and movies, which I alphabetize by series name, and then chronologically within each series. I only collect games I really enjoy, but I have each AC game except BF. I have every Halo game, the first 3 Fable games. Movies, I have about 60 DVDs, but I'm always adding to it. And I have even more in my iTunes

For the time being my airsoft collection is not very organized, as my real firearms are currently clogging up the gun safe, and the closet that safe inhabits.

Not sure why, but I've always liked the look of the XM8 rifle. I guess it looks futuristic in a way. Like something you might expect to shoot lasers instead of bullets.

My biggest collection is books.

I have four bookshelves packed with all kinds of books. I have one shelf in particular for my Very Short Introduction collection. They are a series of small books, about 150 pages each, that provide basic info on all kinds of subjects. There are currently about 380 volumes; I have about 140.

I'm curious if anyone has an autograph collection, I have a few but I don't have the right kind of money to start a collection, Here's a picture of some I obtained in person.

i've got over 300 CDs in my CD collection, they're organised alphabetically, which loads of my mates say is anal, but i'm not gonna spend ages looking for a Yes album, when i know i could just skip to Y

...it's not anal if it's necessary ._.

I collect rocks with my father, and I have thousands of thousands. And they are lying everywhere in the house and everything, there's not really any organisation.

I also collect CD's with him, and we have, again, thousands. We have a huge chest full of them, and two huge aluminium shelf, completly filled. I couldn't even fit my newer CD's here.

I might provide pictures someday...

I collect LPs aka records (analog all the way), and books, particularly old ones (they smell and feel better than new ones). I try to keep them on a shelf or something and try to keep stuff by the same band/ author together. But I don't have to much luck keeping things tidy... I need a maid or butler :derp: .

I collect wows. Many wows. Amaze wows. Very wows, all kinds. Shibe has all the wows.

OOC: I actually collect yugioh cards. It's less of a collection more of whatever decks are good at the time and then my giant collection of crap that collects dust in about 6 or 7 tins sitting on a shelf in my room.
