Anyone ever seen Watership Down?

Yeah, Watership Down. The "anti-disney" movie. If you've seen it, you know what's up. To those of you who haven't seen it, be aware - it's pretty graphic, for a movie involving rabbits.

It's going to be cute, they said. It's going to be fun, they said.

I saw it long ago, I still have some nightmares from when I saw it. It sure was sad and heart wrenching, but not as bad as Richard Adams' other movie/book: Plague Dogs

Yeah, Plague Dogs is a whole nother story.

My god, that was one of those "I cannot watch this ever again, it was so sad" movies for me. I cried for hours after it

Yeah, it was pretty sad, especially the last sequencer. Did they survive? Didn't they? We may never know.

I haven't seen it, but I really want to!

You're in for a wild ride then.

I saw it once on TV. On Christmas day. How that movie got a 7+ rating is beyond me.

I still can't believe it was shown on Christmas day the first time i saw it.

Christmas day? Damn.

I've been told that if I like the Redwall book series that I'd also like Watership Down. I don't know how they can be considered the same though. Cuz they both have animal characters?

That said, I've seen Plague Dogs (didn't know it was done by the same people) and that was definitely a good movie. Dat ending.

That ending indeed.

I'd say Watership Down isn't for the faint-hearted.

I know it isn't. I saw a few minutes of it once. Something about one of the rabbits going mad and bug-eyed, some getting chased and killed by a dog...seemed pretty brutal.

BUT IT'S CUTE LITTLE ANIMALS, IT MUST BE FOR KIDS RIGHT!?

I absolute love the book! In fact Watership Down is a real place in the UK, in the county of Hampshire.I was born in a town pretty close by, called Basingstoke.

Did you see a lot of rabbits then?

Yes, Watership Down is riddled with them! I've only been there once or twice, because it's about an hour's walk from the nearest train station, but I remember once when my family were walking there my sister fell in a rabbit hole and brokeher ankle! My mum and dad had to carry her nearly 2 miles back to the car park.

That sounds most unfortunate. I hope she got better.

Haven't seen it, but I did see The Plague Dogs (which is pretty similar from what I've heard) a long time ago.

I'd say you'd be fine by watching Watership Down, if you've already seen Plague Dogs.

Did they ever reclassify this film's rating in England? I know if had an 'All Ages' rating and it caused a stir at one point. I could be wrong.

Seems about right - I don't think anyone would be able to get away with such a movie in our modern society.
