movies/tv Mr. Critical Reviews: The Brothers Grunt

Hello all, Rarity here. I have taken the duty of writing this review on behalf of my friend, Mr. Critical. Unfortunately he could not be here today due to a medical condition with his toe. ITs looking rather grotesque so we had to force him to go to the doctors. As for todays review, Critic had given me his notes and a few video's of what I'm reviewing. It says here that the show, The Brothers Grunt, was created by Danny Antonucci, creator of the famed Ed, Edd, n' Eddy. It aired in 1994 of August to 1995 of March on the MTV channel with 31 episodes. Something I've heard that has played trite for a few years now. And after I have partaken of the little animation, I must say that this "thing" is by far the most grotesque and horrid thing I've ever seen.

The brothers grunt is ugly. There is no other word that fits it better than ugly. Don't get me wrong, I found myself giving a chuckle every now and then, but it was just hard to subject my eyes to it. I couldn't eat a thing in fear of them vomiting. The main rubber humans are as followed. Franky, Tony, Bing, Dean, Sammy, Perry. I would give you their personalities but I was just too distracted by their design. Their pale rubbery, almost nudist, and had these varicose veins. The way they moved was utterly terrifying and were just uncomfortable to watch and the blatant music video in the middle of the episode makes no sense at all. The show is character driven but has a story of sorts. The brothers are inducted into some form of Brotherhood by this other Rub- you know what, lets just call them Grunts. The brothers are inducted into a brotherhood by the head Grunt. Perry is chosen to be The Chosen one. He doesn't like that and escapes to the outside world. Thus it is the five brothers duty to retrieve him or it was stated that "Without the guidance of the chosen one, the brotherhood shall fall."

Other than that, there is nothing for me to talk about. The humor was surreal, dark, and off-color. Mostly stemming from how odd the Grunts are. One is milked by a French man for his sweat and sold to other humans in the desert. Or where another Grunt falls in love with a lamp and a Frenchman also falls in love with the lamp and the Grunt tries to get its attention. I'm starting to think that this Antonucci human has a thing about the French. But, this was an experience of animation from the human mind. I just don't think I want to re-experience this. I wish I could tell you all more information about this cartoon, but there is not much to talk about without going too into it and separate episodes and I have some things to take care of at the moment.

Critic has also asked me to give this show a sort of fake award for what its most know for. Alright then. I, Rarity, award The Brothers Grunt the astounded Secret Mountain Fort Awesome award for its grotesque design and difficulty to look at. This is lady Rarity and this has been a Mr. Critical review. Goodbye and maybe Critical can let me do another review that's a little more pleasant and easy on the eyes next time.
