In the icy tundra, not to far from the crystal empire, two ponies, both wearing hooded robes so as to not be distinguishable, stood on top of a hill. "Are our operatives in place?" One asked.

The pony's associate nodded slightly, and smirked. "Yes. I'll send out the message soon via magic." He said. "Let's just hope nopony has caught on yet."

The first pony laughed slightly, and sighed. "Even if they knew, they would still be unable to stop us. We've spent five years planning this, and nothing will interfere with the resurrection ceremony."

(scene break)

Location: Canterlot

Current time:11:00 P.M

Tempest's eyes shot open as he heard a knock on the door leading into his private quarters in Canterlot castle. When he opened the door, he saw a night guard mare wearing her full armor set. "My shift starts in an hour." He said, somewhat annoyed.

The mare nodded slightly, evidently flusterd. "I apologize for the incovence, Captain, but Luna and Celestia have personally requested your prescence." She said.

The grey bat pony was slightly surprised, but nodded. "Ok. Continue with your duties. I'll go see what they want." With that, Tempest trotted back into his room, put on a necklace holding a strange pendant, and headed straight for the throne room. "If Tia's up this late, then something must be wrong." He thought to himself.

Cherry messed with her cloak as she moved through the tundra to the group of ponies ahead. They were all in attendance and standing their posts, dressed in black robes and standing silently in a professional manner. She was half an hour late. Oh well, the others wouldn't mind too much right? Nothing had started yet anyway. She moved to the circle of other ponies quietly, using her hood to cover her still apparent bedmane. She took her spot with the group shaking off the snow that had gathered on her hooves.

She had no idea how they were going to resurrect Sombra, but Cherry was excited to see it happen, the stallion was a powerful ruler, deserving of the praise history never gave him. Soon the princesses would be overthrown, the rise of dark magic would be the dawn of a new age. Soon her changeling friends, and the countless other creatures the princesses have suppressed, would have their time to shine. She was sure, life would be better after this.

Clayton sighed, as he trotted through the streets of Canterlot. "Of all the times she could've sent a letter, why did it have to be in the middle of the night?" He muttered to himself, as he entered the castle. He then noticed a strange bat pony, and it looked like he was also heading towards the throne room. "I wonder if he got a letter as well."  The unicorn then decided to strike up a conversation with the pony. "Mind if I ask why you're wearing a necklace?" He asked.

Golden Flames kept her hood up in order to obscure her face from being seen. If anypony found out that she was helping Sombra be resurrected then she'll be seen as an outcast. She trudged through the snow and didn't even bother lighting up her horn to melt the snow around her. If she did that then her trail would lead them right to the location. Golden was about forty-five minutes late but that was fine. She didn't mind being late.

She moved closer to the ponies standing in the snow and quietly sneaked into the ring of ponies. Her wearing a black robe and being recognised were the two things that allowed her to be a part of the circle. Golden Flames hoped that this would work and that King Sombra would once again be placed upon the throne that the mean Mi Amore Cadenza took.

Tempest glanced at Clayton, and simply rolled his eyes. "You know, that isn't exactly the first thing that ponies ask me. They normally ask, and I quote "Are you a Lunar guard?", "Is Luna still a threat?" or maybe even a "Can you use echolocation to see in the dark because you have bloody bat wings?" He said, rage slowly filling his voice as he went on. "To be honest, yes, but that doesn't mean that I won't answer your question. I wear this necklace because I do, and I don't care what that makes you think of me. Just know this. I got to be where I am today for a reason." The lunar guard then trotted into the throne room, and noticed that Celestia and Luna were already there. "I assume that there are supposed to be more than two ponies who aren't alicorns in here, right?"

Celestia nodded slightly. "The others should be here soon." She said.

Clayton was slightly surprised at how the bat pony reacted, but simply shrugged it off. "I guess I should've saw that coming." He said, as he entered the main room to notice a pony with red fur, along with the pony from earlier. "Well, this is interesting." He thought to himself.

Cherry moved slightly to make way for the approaching pony. Strange golden flames held her hood in place. "Welcome sister." She whispered, using her overly dramatic evil voice. "The hour has nearly come for the rise of Sombra. Long live the king." That was standard greeting in the circle. She gave a little bow showing bits of her bright pink mane, but quickly covered it again. @,

Tempest rolled his eyes, and simply leaned against a pillar. "Ok, now there has to be something big. Three ponies all show up at the throne room, and the princesses want to talk to me and the other two." He thought.

Celestia nodded slightly. "It's ok, Fireblaze. We were just waiting for a few more ponies to join your little group." She said.

Golden Flames nodded back and responded in kind. "Greetings sister. The hour has nearly come for the rise of Sombra. Long live the king." Golden whispered back. She gave the mare a small bow and a little bit of her orange mane spilled out from under theh hood. Pushing the hood she turned back to the center and continued to wait.

Wonder landed outside of the castle. He saw the guards standing out front and they stepped aside, obviously having already met him. He did a slight head tilt in respect and stepped into the throne room. He took his place near Fireblaze. He eyed him without a word until suddenly looking up at the princess. "My liege." He says putting his hoof to his shoulder and bowing his head. He looks back up and adjusts the bright, shining blade resting on his flank.

Tempest rolled his eyes, and sighed. "Just get this over with." He thought to himself.

Celestia smiled slightly, and nodded. "It looks like everypony's here." She said. "Now, I assume you all know that there is a reason why I brought the four of you here." She said. "Over the years, ponies have been reporting strange occurrences where ponies disappear and are never seen again, and most of these happen near or in the Crystal Empire. If these reports are any indication, then I fear that we may have a problem. A group of ponies has dedicated itself to resurrecting King Sombra. I want the four of you to investigate, and make sure that this does not happen."

The bat pony was slightly surprised, but he didn't show it. "How are they planning to do that? Shouldn't Sombra be dead?" He said.

Luna nodded slightly, and glanced at Tempest. "He is dead, Tempest, but the cult may plan to revive him using dark magic." She said.

A pony stepped out in front of the crowd, and took his hood down, revealing him to be a unicorn. "Mares and gentlecolts, we are gathered here today to perform one thought would be nearly impossible." He said, smiling darkly. "We are going to bring back King Sombra. For to long we have watched. For to long, we have waited and now, the final piece of the ritual has been obtained." The pony's horn then glowed and levitated what looked to be a fragment of a pony's horn out of his cloak. "Let the ritual begin." Three other ponies exited the crowd, and fired beams of dark magic at the fragment.

The followers of the dark cheered and the ponies stomped their hooves in the snow, today a great thing would happen. The cold wind and the frost felt like nothing compared to the shear anticipation of the group. Today was a great one in history, today things changed for the better. Today would be the dawn of freedom and equity for all forgotten races.

'Now it starts' Golden Flames thought to herself. She cheered along with the other ponies and witnessed them making great history. The light from the beams that hit the horn fragment shone in her eyes. Even though she was a part of the circle she opted to keep her hood up. Now the overthrowing of Cadence can truly start.

Wonder awaited with such bated breath that he forgot to breathe. After, a moment he inhaled quietly. "And if they succeed in this venture?" He wondered aloud. His mind raced at the hundreds of outcomes that the return of Sombra could entail. This was a truly dire situation.

Tempest simply facehoofed, and glanced at Wonder. "It's bloody Sombra. What do you think he'll do?" He asked. 'Knowing him, he'll probably try to take back the crystal empire, and maybe Equestria if he isn't stopped." The lunar guard had very little patience at this point, and he wasn't exactly intimidated by the pony.

As the ritual continued, the mass that was the horn fragment began to expand and take the shape of a pony with grey fur and a pure black mane and tail. When the pony's eyes opened, they were glowed a pure green.

The crowed was chanting now "Long live the king! Long live the king" Cherry chanted right along, silently praying to the Lord Discord to grant the darkness safe journey to the throne. Today in the dark and the cold of the Midnight Tundra, King Sombra returned in promise of a brighter future for his followers. Today was the day.

"I was talking about the citizens. Of course he'll take over the world if he comes back, but the bigger question is what kind of sick, sadistic plans he has for the citizens." He spoke with utter contempt for the Guard Captain, and didn't really want to bother wasting his breath on him.

Darkness seeing this as he smiles and then looking at the Ritual too. “LONG LIVE KING SOMBRA.”

Golden Age walked into the room in a rather irritated manner, he was not irritated at anypony else in the room, but more so himself. "Forgive me..." he said, moving to find a spot amongst the others. "G'day yer highness, same unto you, Celestia" he said. "I do presume the matters of which you've called me upon are of importance?"

Celestia glanced at Golden Age. "As I have already told the others, there is a chance that King Sombra may return." She said.

Tempest sighed, and glanced out the window. Call it a hunch, but he could tell that something was going on. "We shouldn't think about what he's going to do, because he won't come back." He said, his tone cold and murderous. "I apologize for my previous comment, though. Right now, we don't need to fight amongst ourselves."

Xena appeared beside Tempest, and glanced at the pony. "Do you think we should show them." He said, communicating via telepathy. He knew that the others wouldn't be able to see him, and decided to stay.

The lunar guard shook his head. "I don't think we should, until we knew for sure how they'll react." He thought.

"How would one intend to do that" he asked, unable to hide the sense of surprise that was held within his voice.

"I've never heard of a resurrection spell, and surely no average unicorn could be able to carry it out." He briefly looked at Tempest for a mere second before turning away, a small smile forming on his face from knowing he was amongst a kindred spirit in some form or fashion.

"But if your words are true, then...how do we stop it?"

"I think we should send out agents and guards. Maybe impose a curfew. The citizens won't like it, and they may ask questions, but the less they know, the safer that they'll be. Just my thoughts on the matter." He glanced at the Captain. The Captain looked a bit disturbed. "I think that we should gain a bit more knowledge into the problem before we act." He then looked to the Princesses. "Unless, you think it's not soon enough?"

"What good would a curfew do?" he questioned. "It's not like he's at our front door. I agree the citizens shouldn't be informed of the matter, but what good would come of restricting their movement?"

He took a small glance towards the Captain. "I do agree, knowledge is power, at least it is assumed to be, but I do pray the time consumed does not prove to hinder us."
