I hate ads for Axe products, or just men's products in general. I just hate how it smells! In school everyone would like spray half a can on themselves at the start of every gym class, and it almost made me sick. Those ads just aggravate me to no end with how common they are.

 

 Not necessarily an ad, but I hate it when you're just trying to watch a youtube video and an ad plays, and it starts buffering. Seriously, can you just hurry up so I can watch my video?

In the city closest to the town I live in, there's an airport and they have a parking service that is actually pretty good.. .But they constantly pay to have their ads plastered everywhere, and the poor company can not make a non-annoying ad, like ever. Every single commercial they have made since I first heard them has been flat out obnoxious, and overplayed.

 

Most recently, they have one where a bunch of people are dancing around badly at the airport (outside) to the most horrid cheesey music, and like OMG... This company needs to get somebody new to advertise for them, because their ads are just so bad that I may have to forgo using them should I ever fly again.

There's also those NSFW ads on non-NSFW websites. For example, almost all sites I've been to had this ad for a pornographic game called "League of Angels". That fucking ad almost got me in trouble in school! Just that the teacher was actually smart and realized it was only an ad. But still, WTF?!?!

It's not bad at first but they made dozens of versions of the song and they seemed to crop up more often than most adverts.

1) Anything and everything from GoDaddy.com.

2) Anything and everything from eTrade.

3) Any Geico commercial with the EXCEPTION of the Mayhem commercials. Those are actually funny and creative. The rest suck. And so do ALL of Allstate's commercials.

4) The overly-random ads that are designed to be as random as possible so that you actually remember what it's advertising. (This strategy works on me like a charm. I remember random things almost exclusively!)

those hispanic adds about loosing weight or buying those elastic things to make your butt and boobs look bigger (or in men's case to have abs) (also I say hispanic because they show them waaay more on the hispanic channels than on the american ones) like COME ON! Phantom auto-playing ads. I had to enable adblocker on Fimfiction because, despite them saying in the contrary, every time I opening a page a disembodied voice would start trying to sell me something and no matter how much I searched I could never find it to shut it off. 

 

I can't remember it very well, but I vaguely recall that back when I used to watch TV there was this one particular ad that was so mindbogglingly stupid that whenever it appeared I would either mute the volume, change the channel or outright leave the room. Figures that the one time I want to recall it I can't, though I think it was a car commercial of some sort.

   I hate all of the ads on YouTube, I wish we could go back to a time when we didn't have adverts on the videos, it takes up so much time and it gets annoying. The ASPCA has some truly heinous ads, that shows the animals in squalor, and tells us to give them money, although the ASPCA does not have transparency, so we do not get a chance to see what our contributions do. Any cell phone ad, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon have some over-the-top super annoying adverts, that are condescending and disrespects the viewers' intelligence. I especially hate it when advertisers use children for non child merchandise, the use the child's cuteness to sell cars, insurance, expensive vacations, or superfluous educational programs, but the worse part is the propaganda that exploit children, that just uses them as an excuse to make new laws, and take more money, although I have no problem with adverts, but if they are running amok we have to examine ourselves, and see what legacy we are leaving.

Near enough all of the ad on TV here in the UK infuriate me to no end, but here are my top 5, which makes me want to kill every time I see them;

 

1. The Hive advert by British Gas. A trying to be witty generic acoustic indie "artist" singing a song with the most random lyrics about making origami out of pastrami even though it's about controlling your heating inside your home.

 

2. The Magnum ice cream ad. That sound effect mainly. You know. The sound what sounds like the person on screen had just broken a femur when biting into the ice cream.

 

3. That one charity advert which had Ewan McGregor on it not long ago. A man with millions of pounds telling a poor person like me to give my money to charity. I support charity if the cause if good, but to have someone like him on my TV telling me to give money is just a massive insult.

 

4. That new BT advert with the fat chod using his neighbours internet. I hate him so much for the way he says "precious fibre optic" when he rolls into the flat like the boulder from Indiana Jones.

 

5. Go Compare. Even without the singing guy, it's still annoying as hell.

 

Also I have to do a special shout-out to these numerous Bingo adverts. There's two I despise to no end. The first one is the Paddy Power one where the woman calls a "husband removing agency". For those who haven't seen it, basically this woman wants to play online bingo but her husband is at home (God knows why that stops her) so she calls this agency to basically kidnap her husband. They duct tape him up and throw him into the back of a van using a plunger bungee rope. But what get's me the most is that when he's sat in the back of the van, duct taped and gagged with a few other men, getting carted off to god knows where against their will, where they should be panicking, one of the guys gives a hello-like nod to the guy they threw in the back. I'd be more concerned about where I'd be going.

 

And the second one is a new one that's just rear it's ugly head. I forget the name of it, but it's a massive mechanical bird....crapping on people. I dread to think what happened in the boardroom while planning that advert. Probably: "Why not do an advert where a giant robot bird SHITS on people!?"

 

I don't know why we can't do adverts like Eastern Europe and South America. They seem to be hilarious when I see them on Commercial Breakdown.

How annoying an ad is to me is directly proportional to how hard it is to ignore and/or get rid of.

Something on the page is generally pretty ignorable to me--stuff that pops up in another window with sound, that's annoying.

Ads that have a transparent body, with a disembodied X waaay to the right, and a FAKE "close" or X bit on the opaque part of the ad... those annoy me too--it's like the company knows no one cares, but tries to get you to click anyway just to gain a hit.

 

The most annoying of all are the very rare cases where something just takes up the bottom of the screen like something that should be closable, but isn't.

Or those things with sound that take 10-30 seconds to load and are embedded in every page, so you have to interrupt whatever you're doing 10-30 seconds into it to stop the ad because it didn't load initially to a point where you could tell it to just never play.

GEICO ads. They just make me want to throw my iPad/keyboard across the room. THEY ARE SO ANNOYING!! I've seen these a million times. It's like videos meant for torture, like real torture.

 

I don't even know if they were even BEING TRUTHFUL when they say 15 minutes saves you 15% on car insurance.... YEAH, I GET IT.

 

But on YouTube, what is REALLY annoying is that they end too early. I'm not mad at it because it ended early, I'm mad because the ones who put the ad on would have KNOWN it had the bug. When it ends, I get a sort of a nerve attack.

 

The way they did the dialogue and accent just pisses ME OFF

 

 

EDIT: Actually, I'm not done yet. There are ads on the web everywhere I go. It goes like this, "PLAY OUR FREE-TO-PLAY RPG MMO GAME, BECAUSE EVERYONE, INCLUDING YOU, ARE PERVERTS WHO CARE FOR NOTHING BUT ANIME GIRLS WITH BIG BOOBS, AND THIS GAME HAS THEM."

I don't like advertisements that are displayed on billboards on the roads. I think they are a distraction to drivers. If someone is driving and takes his or her time reading that sign, they could very well get into an accident.

Advertisements with sound. Why on earth would I want to listed to a bat hitting a baseball while I'm watching videos?

 

I've also noticed that Youtube (Google) has made it to where advertisements are a priority over videos when it comes to buffering. My video could have the spinning ring of death five seconds in while the ten second long animation in the advertisement to the right works just fine.

 

I really think Google lost sight of what made it so successful in the first place.

Pretty much any ad in general annoys me if it keeps popping up when I am viewing a website.

 

YouTube also has this. Sometimes an ad will play before the video I am viewing. I understand that this is how YouTube makes money, but I don't want to wait for an ad to load when I really just want to watch a video. -_-

 

Also, the reason commercials load way faster than a normal video is because the commercial is already paid to load.
