How do you stop liking your current Best Pony?

Let's say you have favourite Pony who you really like/love but upcoming events that will affect your pony will make you really depressing, so in order of avoiding this you want to stop caring about it...

So how do you stop caring about it's existance?

That you no longer care what happens to it...

Any tips in this regard?

Why would you want to do that? You take the good with the bad and form a different/better opinion about them. The idea that you should always have some sacred and golden opinion about this pony just because things happen you don't like is a little ridiculous.

It will most likely change the way you view them but to make yourself not care because you think the character will be "ruined" or something is going a bit far and tells much of your actual love for them.

inb4 Ghostie screams NEVER in all caps and size 24+ font

As for me, I don't see it happening any time soon, short of an incredibly major bout of OOC from Rarity in the canon series. And even if they did that, I'd be more annoyed at the show writers than Rarity as a character. And if you've stopped liking your favorite character, it's natural. People change over time, just figure out who your new favorite is and all.

If you had "actual" love for a cartoon character, I would suggest some outside help. And if he wants to change his favorite due to him no longer liking the character, or finding the character ruined is fine. It is a fictional character after all, changing your favorite on a whim will have no negative effect on your outside social or academic life.

And I would suggest either picking your second favorite, or finding a replacement.

The writers would have to go out of their way to make it embarrasing and miserably for me to be a RD fan. But considering that I stuck by her even after Mare Do Well, I don't see myself switching sides anytime soon.

A loyal fan for the loyal pony

With me.....................I will always have my waifu, Spitfire as my favorite.  The character, herself is just too good and too sexy to stop caring about.

I second that.............

TC seems rather reluctant to do this and they are just trying to safeguard themselves in case of something going wrong. Changing your favorite is normal. Changing your favorite before anything has happened to prevent heartache or disappointment? Different story entirely.

It's like breaking off a friendship to preserve the good memories just because they said they lost their job and you assume that they are looking to mooch off of you or something.

But it is still not a negative action. He is either setting up a failsafe, or just changing his favorite to avoid the annoyance or trouble that comes form being a fan of a character that in your opinion has committed negative character development. Changing his favorite is not a negative action, regardless of the reason, because it bears no real world negative connotations.

We're talking about a favorite pony and how we identify with them. This has an affect on our moods and our interactions with other fans of the show. It most certainly has realworld ramifications.

It's not even that I'm saying that the TC can't do it, I'm just having a hard time understanding why they would want to.

The only real word ramifications that occur do to your favorite pony are those that you perceive. If changing your current favorite character in a fictional cartoon show, were the characters have no physical, real world equivalent; really effects your interactions with other fans and people that much, I would suggest you remove yourself from said media.

The writers would have to put me on the edge of losing the will to live.

Rarity makes the whole show for me, and I sometimes question if I'd even be a brony without her being a part of the show. She's had such a profound impact on my life, I really can't see it ever changing, like, ever.

Even if I lose interest in the show, I'll still keep Rarity around. I lost interest in Yu-Gi-Oh a long time ago, but I kept my Jinzo card in my wallet for a good 6 years, just because he was my favorite card and I remembered wrecking everyone I dueled with him :D

Rarity >>>>>> Jinzo, and I kept that guy around for 6 years after I lost interest in Yu-Gi-Oh :D I doubt Rarity's going anywhere anytime soon

I am not the kind of guy that can just make myself not like something especially if is something or rather somepony in this case that strikes as strong of an emotional chord with me as Applejack does. I know Applejack is a fictional character but something about her is special to me and I have many reasons why this is the case the two main ones being that I have a very strong crush on her, Applejack is pretty much nearly everything I could want in a woman. I have had crushes on fictional characters before so that is not new (although having one on a non humanoid character is new for me) but the level of it while it dosen't approach unhealthy levels is still significant. And of course there is another one which I talked about in a blog post a while back.

I think even if I lose interest in this show, I will probably still like Applejack.

You know, for all intents and purposes Applejack, and everyone else on the show, is pretty much human aside from their physiology.

I know, but when it comes to crushes and ahem more NSFW stuff that tended to matter to me but now so long as they are sapient it is completely irrelevant to me now. If Applejack existed and I had a chance to have a relationship with her I would take it.

Many would. The only thing that really separates a fictional and real personality is that fictional ones are only as dimensional as the creator or imagination makes them while a real person is autonomous to your thoughts. They would still have all the traits you would find attractive in a real person.

So that's why I don't find it strange at all to find fictional characters of any kind attractive or even relationship material if they were real.

I mean, as long as we aren't going down the "Twilight is my wife so I want all of you bronies to stop ogling her" path.
