Banjo Kazooie thread

Recommended Posts

I decided to make a thread about my most favorite, childhood video game. If none of you have heard of this game, I feel sorry for you.

Anyways, lets just talk about it :) Have you played the game? When was the last time you played it? Why do you like it?

Just feel free to discuss anything. I basically love EVERYTHING about it and really bummed that Rare Ware now works with Microsoft :/ I feel like Rare should stay with Nintendo and they could make so much more money that way. They made some awesome games for Nintendo, aside from Banjo kazooie.

Woo! I don't speak of it much, but Banjo-Kazooie was actually my first video game. It was the game that started a new chapter in my young life as a gamer. ^^

I think I've actually played all of them, not beaten, but played. I don't think I've actually beaten a single Banjo Kazooie game, I'm sad to say. ^^"

I preferred Tooie to Kazooie, those who have played will know what I mean. ^^"

The new "Nuts and Bolts" crap on the Xbox was complete garbage, a disgrace to the series if you will.

I mean, I couldn't even read the text on the screen, explain this shit, Rare!

Speaking of which, Microsoft buying Rare was the reason we didn't get the -cancelled- Banjo Threeie, which would have been on the Nintendo GameCube.

But still, it was a very cool series in which I enjoyed playing, even that one on the GameBoy, Grunty's revenge, right? ^^

It saddens me highly. Banjo Threeie on the gamecube would have been kick ass!!! I mean, nuts and bolts could have been better without the machines. The graphics and the huge levels would have been FUN to explore just as Banjo and Kazooie. Also, in Nuts and bolts when Kazooie was "unable" to fly anymore and they had to use machines ticked me off. What, did Kazooie get her wings clipped?

Anyways, I actually have beaten both games, but the thing on Tooie, there is ONE Jigsaw I am unable to obtain .-. because its near impossible....

Oh my god. My favorite level involves the four seasons. (closest to end game)

I think it was called Click Clock Wood or something...

yea!

Freakin' LOVED that level my friend!! I played on it for hours and took my time because it was SO fun!!!!

The snow part ticked me off a lot xD I hated running on the snow, because it was slippery and then darned SNOWMEN !!!

Ah, I assume you're referring to the infamous Canary Mary race in Cloud Cuckoo Land? It's that reason I never plan to 100% Banjo Tooie. Last time I played Banjo Kazooie was a few years back where I tried to collect everything. I had every note, every Jinjo, every Honeycomb (had to look up a guide for that one) and 99/100 Jiggys before I ran into my own impossible Jiggy. And, wouldn't you know it, it's in the worst level in the entire game: Rusty Bucket Bay.

I'm talking about the one where you have to go into the bowels of the ship and carefully maneuver over moving gears suspended over an instant death pit before hitting a switch. You then have an extremely limited time limit to make it out alive, hampered by the previously mentioned instant death pit and the need to climb a ladder that takes far to long to climb. After that you have to run to the back of the ship, swim under the water that saps twice you air while swimming and carefully slip through a pair of stopped propellers with seconds to spare. Oh, did I also mention that the propellers are instant death if you so much as brush against them and even if you did manage to claim the Jiggy, the timer would undoubtedly run out and send the propellers spinning again, forcing you waste a life in order to get out. Heaven help you if you tried all this while collecting notes at the same time.

I've only played a little of the first Banjo Kazooie but I adored Banjo Tooie. I don't usually buy games twice but I just HAD to get it off of the 360's store to play it again. Though in this case I don't have an N64 anymore so I either got the $15 BT or got a who-knows-how-much N64. (Though I need to get one eventually anyway so I can play Mischief Makers again)

I still wanna get Nuts&Bolts too though. From what I've heard about it it's one of those games that is so extremely different that people shunned it for that...which is exactly the kind of game that I love.

OMG my childhood has finally found it's way into the forums! ^_^

I must've played the original N64 pair at least 20 times each now but I still love them to death, curse MS for all eternity for denying us Banjo Threeie! :okiedokielokie:

Mm-hmm, one of the best platformers ever made, right here.

I must've beaten this game like 5 times.

The soundtrack is still one of my favorite OSTs to listen to, too.

The game also scarred me for life on 2 occasions. x)

I remember when me, 8 years old or so, was palying Clanker's Cavern, and I had to jump through the water and swim down a pipe to get to the next are.

I was met by this:

Banjo-Kazooie-Clankers-Cavern.jpg

Sure, NOW I know that Clanker is a big 'ol kitty cat...but before?

It scared the sh*t out of me. I didn't play the damn game for weeks because it terrified me. x)

And then , when playing on Treasure Trove Cove, I...

Well, if you already played this game as much as I did, you know what happens when you make the fatal error of jumping into the water:

I WAS A CHILD

AND THIS GAME SCARRED ME FOR LIFE

Also, in Nuts and bolts when Kazooie was "unable" to fly anymore and they had to use machines ticked me off. What, did Kazooie get her wings clipped?

Actually, the story was that both Banjo and Kazzoie were out of action for so long, they got fat and lazy and forgot how to do all of their tricks.

Clever move, Rare. x)

The last one I cannot obtain is where you have to race Canary Mary at Cloud Cuckooland and its a pain in the ass to beat because you have to mash the A button as fast as you can, and i cannot do it for the life of me. I actually looked it up and TONS of people have had the same problem.

They say its not impossible xD But...

I never did collect all the Jiggies in Banjo Tooie. I was on a quest to do it a few months ago but stopped when I got to the dinosaur place cuz it started getting complicated and I was losing my patience. I'll get back to it. :P

That actually kept me from collecting all the jiggies too. I was kind of a baby, and did not EVEN attempt to obtain it cause I knew I would fail...but it bugged me so much one day, that i actually attempted to collect it.

I did actually o,O but, this was TIME after I have gotten so much better at the game.

(edited)

I have both cartridges 100% completed, beat grunties revenge, on a rom again recently, the only one I never fully completed was Nuts and Bolts, and for obvious reasons to those of us that only bought the game due to nostolgia. Ruined, fucking ruined. BUUT, anyways, Canary Mary is the reason Banjo Tooie full completion "speed runs" are impossible, it takes 5-8 tries at the very least to beat her in Cuckoo Cloud Land, when I was a little kid it took me like 20 lol.

Also thought I had to add, that this has been my favorite video game franchise since I was playing it when I was 4 years old.

I remember getting tooie for my 6th birthday. Omg, my childhood, was Banjo Kazooie, Rareware used to be nintendos most revered side game producers, and I wish they would buy their souls back from Microsoft and come back to Nintendo. I remember the first game I ever played was diddy kong racing, would always pick banjo lol, and a short time after his own game was released.
