Equestria Girls2 influenced by G2? Metalloids or The Dazzlings?

Could it be?

I know "battle of the bands" is a fairly common plot device in high school-ish movies, but after seeing quite a few instances in which characters, and even entire episodes had taken from g1 and  carried over, with slight differences into g4, I couldn't help but wonder if the same had been done for g2. (My Little Pony Tales)

Particularly, in the episode "battle of the bands". (obvious episode to take inspiration from, right?)

Sypnosis:

Melody and her band The Rockin' Beats prepare for "The Battle of the Bands" competition. Melody is asked to look after her younger twin sisters Jing-a-Ling and Ting-a-Ling. Unable to find another babysitter, she takes them with her to the competition. She does her best to keep the twins out of trouble but the twins appear on stage. The Rockin' Beats wins the competition.

Of course, we already know that the movie won't follow the same course, other than band vs band.

But moving past that, one thing I really would've liked to see come out of EQD2- (aside from an actual movie about ponies, rather than humanoid ponies) - if it HAD to be a battle of the bands, was instead of our favorite Mane 6 getting all rocker'd up (and playing....pop music ;_; no really. That saddens me) was the  return of a band pulled straight from the G2 battle of the bands episode- "The Metalloids"

Though this band was only shown playing for a second or two (5:34), they look pretty awesome, with long manes tails, and mohawks and kind of an 80's glam rock/metal look to them. And their band name is kinda cool. (better than the alt mane 6's rival band's name; "the Dazzlings" ;_; )

It's possible...but the "high school band versus another high school band to win a contest" is quite clique. It's present in other cartoons, and even movies. Now, EQG's itself is made to be a direct competition to Monster High (as far a marketing goes)...and although I have never seen one episode of Monster High but I have seen that they have a band like thing going on with toys and school supplies...

I already addressed that in the very beginning.

her name is Adiago Dazzle

Hey, thanks, her name escaped my mind at the moment.

PD: It's true that the second MLP show (which is still G1, G2 never had a show) has the least amount of influences in FIM, so I believe they're taking this opportunity to make some in Rainbow Rocks, with the teen highschool setting and such, which was the main concept of the second show. Despite that, Starswirl the Bearded shares the name with a pony of that show. I don't think Bon Bon counts, since she officially started as Sweetie Drops, it was changed because of us

I was trying to point out the clique being used outside the MLP universe and its currently popularity (i.e. Monster High)....The 80's hasn't really had a comeback, just a revamping. As far as how the characters look and whatnot, I blame KISS....I really don't see much correlation between G2 and EQG if that's the comparison you really mean to address. One episode that is riddled with cliques does not equate an entire movie spinoff and its sequel. There's a lot more going on. As I mentioned above, Monster High, Mattel's flagship girly "thing" that is popular now, is really why Hasbro allowed for EQG in the first place. Product Competition. Why not G2? Because so far, nothing (other than the 14 seconds of Flash Sentry) alludes to the "problems" that the main characters and almost ALL the episodes of G2 address....G2 is an idealistic preteen romp through school, boys, friends, and again BOYS....I do not think Rainbow Rocks will revolve around boys, but you never know with Hasbro...

I hope not. Not a big fan of Tales.

Still, its school setting is a good fit for EG to has borrow stories from (much like how FiM elements from the first cartoon with a little Gen 3)

But its high school... maybe not in Rainbow Rocks (though we will totally see Brad Flash Centry), but in Equestria Academy, that might as well just be the plot of half the episodes. (The "BOYs!!11111!!1 OMG OMG plot :|)

If it's the same creators of FIM, then I am not worried. They may keep it short and sweet and not major to plots, but just throw it in to make Hasbro happy (like Mr. Flash-er :P  )  By the way things seem to be going with DHX, Equestria Academy looks to do what FIM cannot, give more mature friendship lessons. Not the FIM hasn't done that, but the few "deep" episodes (like "Flight to the Finish") are such amazing rare jems that only enhance FIM; it's not present very often in other words. Whereas, with older audiences (which we can assume EQA is for preteen group) should focus on more mature friendship lessons that we as adult fans can relate to even more. Boys (under DHX) will be an afterthought, and probably used in lieu of "Simple Ways" maybe one or two episodes. Unlike Rainbow Rocks (which I'm on the fence about but have little hope overall currently), I am very much looking forward to EQA, if it pans out how I presume. If it does go the G2 route, then I count it just like the EQG franchise, it was just a thing that happened at some time and place after Twilight Sparkle became a alicorn, and nothing else.

The whole thing feels a bit meh.

All I hope is that its better made than the first one. I really, really want to enjoy watching it, I really do. I hope I can.
