  5. We were expecting to get a bad storm in Upstate South Carolina, but it just fizzled out Sunday. People around here acted like they usually do when they hear about severe weather, by clearing out the bread, milk, bottled water, etc. ...and this is as bad as it got here.
  6. Absolutely, this menace must be stopped.
  7. I'm usually in a persistent annoyed mood, but that's mostly caused by being at work.
  8. I (unfortunately) know some myself. Pretty much all of them are hillbillies from work that believe in all sorts of conspiracies they pick up from Facebook or Youtube videos. It ranges from your standard tinfoil hat beliefs (moon landing was fake, 9/11 was an inside job, Oswald didn't kill JFK, etc.) to some really stupid crap like Paul Walker's car being hit by a missile or Barack Obama being an actual space alien. I usually try to put on some headphones or leave the room whenever the subject comes up because I can feel my brain cells dying if I listen for too long. I can tell you after enough times hearing it, I changed my mind about Eugenics.
  9. With my coworkers I couldn't even say it was a comic con. I just tell them I'm seeing some friends.
  10. Yeah, if you want to go to Bronycon, do not leave the Inner Harbor or Fells Point unless you like getting mobbed by homeless drug addicts asking you for money for "food". The convention center itself you shouldn't be worried about. Nothing happened there even in 2016, when some of those protests got ugly.
  11. Seeing as how I'm 27 and already feel old, I'd go with maybe 23. Or even 25, since you can legally do most age restricted things by then.
  12. Oh, boy, do I have some good ones. I can probably come back to this thread several times as I remember more stories. Probably the best one happened on my first day there. I was hired in the engineering department, but sent me out to the production floor for a couple of weeks for training, or as close to training as we had at the time. Around lunch time, I started hearing people being called into the office. Next thing I know, almost half the department I'm in is gone, and I'm having to help run some of the machines. I found out later that, in his infinite wisdom, our former general manager had a surprise drug test done of the entire plant. Now, from my experience, most people working out on a shop floor, assembly line, warehouse, etc. smoke pot. Not usually at work, but they're definitely doing it. So in one day, we went from a full plant to a skeleton crew because most of the plant (about 80% of one department, and half of another) failed a drug test. In fact, so many failed, we had to start bringing the people that failed back in. Only a couple actually got let go, because they were so high it was starting to cause problems. Needless to say, I learned pretty quick what kind of company I was working for. I mean, it beat being unemployed. I'm still working there, too. I just passed the 4 year mark late in May. I'll try and put up another one tomorrow. I just remembered it, and it is a good one.
  13. I doubt I could go without shaving for a month. More than a day's worth of stubble, and it starts to annoy me.
