King Sombra's laugh echoes in the darkness...

Fade in to Shining Armor tossing and turning, groaning in bed. Obviously having a nightmare.

Shining Armor: (Growls) "You... Won't... Pass... Monster!" (Groans)

Shining Armor wakes up with a startling gasp, a moment of silence passes, then he takes a long breath and collapses back down on the bed, taking short, deep breaths.

The commotion wakes up Cadance, whom slowly wakes up from her slumber.

Princess Cadance: "Bad dream, my love?"

Shining Armor: (Takes another deep breath) "Yes... Another nightmare." 

Cadance slowly moves closer to him.

Princess Cadance: "Want to tell me about it?" (Lets out a short yawn mid-sentence)

Shining Armor: (Shuddering while talking) "It was... THEM again..." 

Princess Cadance: (Sounding concerned) "Them? You mean-" (She's cut-off by Shining Armor answering)

Shining Armor: "The Changelings... Chrysalis... (Long pause) ...HIM too..." 

Princess Cadance: (Now quite worried) "Shining... (Pauses) Love, they are long gone-" (She is once again interrupted by Shining Armor)

Shining Armor: "Why do these wretched dreams keep coming back-" (This time he is interrupted by her)

Princess Cadance: "Shining, you've been the victim of them all, it is normal... Maybe we can ask Princess Luna to..." (She trails off)

Shining Armor: (Now sounding reassuring) "No, I will be fine, my love. I am sorry for making you worry so much. Besides, Princess Luna has already enough troubles as is."

Cadance lets out a relaxed sigh.

Princess Cadance: "Let's just go back to sleep, my Prince in shining armor." (She says the last part in a joking manner)

Princess Cadance: "Tomorrow her majesty Princess Twilight Sparkle is visiting the Empire, remember?" (She continues in the same tone)

Shining Armor lets out a gasp.

Shining Armor: "I forgot!" (He yells out as he jumps out of the bed and runs out through the door)

Princess Cadance: "Shining! It's not even the Morning yet!" 

Fade to black. End Scene.

Skip to morning.

Shining Armor and Princess Cadance slowly leave the castle.

Shining Armor lets out a tired sigh before squinting his eyes, then smiling as he spots Twilight Sparkle in the distance.

Shining Armor: "Twily! (He trots up to her and they exchange a hug) You're here!"

Twilight Sparkle: "Shining, oh I missed you. I'm so sorry I couldn't come earlier, I was so busy! (She says in a hurried voice before calming down) Cadance! (She turns to her next and they exchange their usual "Sunshine, Sunshine" greeting) I missed you so much!"

Princess Cadance: "I missed you too, Twilight..." (She says in a warm, welcoming tone)

Twilight Sparkle: "I take it you heard about Celestia and Discord?" (She giggles)

Shining Armor: "Huh, what about them?" (He sounds confused while Cadance giggles too)

Princess Cadance: "Oh Twilight, don't spoil it for him. He will find out eventually."

Shining Armor lets out a huff but dismisses it.

Shining Armor: "Either way, how have you been, Twily? I mean, after Tirek and Discord..." (He trails off before getting interrupted by Twilight)

Twilight Sparkle: "Shining, I'm fine (She says in a nonchalant tone before continuing) Tirek is back in Tartarus, Discord is, well, certainly going to be on our side now, and I got a Castle in Ponyville. I have a place to live, if you're worried about that."

Shining lets out a troubled sigh.

Shining Armor: "I would like to believe that Discord is going to redeem for his crimes, but I can't... This is the third time he has attempted to destroy Ponykind in some way."

Princess Cadance: "Shining, please-" (Cadance is interrupted by a Crystal Guard who trots up to her in a hurry)

Guard: "Your Highness! (He bows before Cadance) The... Horn has disappeared." (He says in an uneasy tone)

Shining Armor & Princess Cadance: "WHAT!?"

Twilight Sparkle: "Trophy? What is he talking about?"

Shining Armor runs off, Princess Cadance approaches Twilight slowly.

Princess Cadance: (In a very serious tone) "Twilight this is very bad news. The horn that belonged to... Him, has disappeared."

Twilight Sparkle: "Him? Do you mean King Sombra? What were you thinking keeping something as dangerous as his horn around!?"

Princess Cadance: "Calm down Twilight, I will explain..." 

Flashback to the Crystal Empire, a thousand years ago. Black-screen (This scene is mostly just a black screen)

Princess Cadance: (Narrating) "King Sombra used to be a fair leader of the Empire. Perhaps a bit too brutal, but he did it for the safety of his ponies... And kept the Empire safe he did from the dangers of the outside world, however, he could not forsee a danger from the inside..."

Male Crystal Pony: (Walking up to King Sombra) "Sire, our workers have found this in the mines..."

King Sombra: (Lets out a thoughtful sigh as the screen fades to black)

Princess Cadance: (Narrating) "One day, the miners have found some unique kind of Crystals. Sombra had thought it was a blessing from the heavens. Crystals never seen before, in his Empire, he could earn a fortune and make his ponies happy for eternity..."

Sound of crystals cracking.

Princess Cadance: (Narrating) "However, even the best intentions can go very wrong if the means to do so have been born of evil..."

King Sombra: "What!? No! Noooooooooo!" (The "No" turns into a scream)

Fade in to Sombra with his horn twisted, his teeth turned sharp.

Princess Cadance: (Narrating) "The Crystals contained an ancient spirit, something evil, something... Nopony could have known of. It has taken residence inside of his head, and his magic. It turned him into a monster both on the inside and the outside."

Cross-fade to Sombra looking as he did in the show, the room he is in is now gray and empty of color.

Princess Cadance: (Narrating) "And after that... Well, you already know..."

Flashback ends.

Princess Cadance: "The Evil that has destroyed the stallion that King Sombra was once is still inside of his horn, it is the only piece of him that has stayed intact and we could not destroy it even after all this time. So me and Shining have decided to do the next best thing we could. Keep it away in secret, away from the eyes of ponies. Where no-one would find it... Or so we thought. (She sighs) Do you understand now? If somepony has gotten a hold of that horn we could be facing a Deja Vu of what King Sombra did."

Twilight Sparkle: "...Sweet Celestia. We must find it now!"

Princess Cadance: "Come on, we've wasted enough time already."

Cadance and Twilight run off...
