Fan claims to be Twilight's fiance

blog-0500093001365643736.jpgHello to all my Brony friends! I'm back for another rant. Today I'm talking about sort of an odd story...

Just recently, an upset fan contacted a clop artist. For those of you who don't know what a clop artist is, I'm not going to delve into that here; I have another blog entry discussing 'clop'. Anyways, back on topic. The fan did not like the fact that this particular clop artist has been known to draw Twilight Sparkle quite often, and asked him to stop. His reasoning? This is where it gets sort of odd. The fan claimed to be Twilight Sparkle's fiance, and that they were planning to get married soon.

Yes, married. Here is the letter he sent the clop artist:

Alright, now I'm all for people doing whatever makes them happy, but this is getting on the ridiculous side of things.

Before I delve further into this, I realize that the writer may very well be a troll. For the sake of argument I'm going to assume this claim is genuine.

We've all probably had a cartoon crush at one point or another. It's perfectly natural to see a personality you find appealing and turn it into affection. To tell you the truth, growing up I had a massive crush on Rogue from the 90's X-Men cartoon. Hell, I see a lot of people on the internet who have a 'Waifu'. For those of you who don't know, a Waifu is a term used for a fictional character that fans consider their significant other. While this is usually all in good fun, this man just seems to have taken it way too seriously.

In the end, he's not really hurting anyone I suppose; anyone except himself. Listen, it's fine to do what makes you happy; but this is all an illusion that could hinder his relationship with real human beings. He may be happy with this little charade now, but years down the line I'm sure he will feel differently.

Also, I must address the fact that he lays claim to a fictional character. As a fan, I don't care how far you want to take your obsession with a show, but you can't go around claiming characters as your own. Anyone can make an absurd claim like that, it doesn't make it true.

For instance, I'm going to make a claim right now:

I am now lord of Mars. The planet is mine by right, and I will not allow N.A.S.A. to continue sending rovers to my home.

So, I have now claimed ownership over Mars. Does that mean I own the planet, and others should back off? No, it doesn't; I just look like a fool. It doesn't matter how much I enjoy my fantasy, it's just wrong.

Anyways, that's my two cents on this story, what do you guys think?

TL;DR Version:

I now own Mars. Deal with it.

Vinyl is my wife and our daughter is Scootaloo.

Jordo, may we have a spot of real estate on Mars to build our palace of dubstep and Nitro Circus-esque scootering?

Hmmmm, sure but don't spread the word. I don't want people knowing I'm giving away land on my planet >.>

Fun fact. I've never been sexually attracted to a fictional character. Ever. I prefer the touch of a sentient, caring human, rather than a toy or picture.

And I think that for anyone to claim a cartoon character as their IRL wife, or husband, they'd need to have created and developed the character, or have the creator of the character give the go-ahead.

I think it's just morally wrong to marry a character, and prevent other people from enjoying her. It's like, what's wrong with a real girl? Her character traits are completely possible IRL, and by taking yourself off the market for a toy could prevent you from finding her.

Exactly. He may be happy living out his little fantasy now, but this can't lead to anything good in the future.

He is basically preventing himself from finding his significant other, all for the sake of a plushie.

I'm all for people doing what makes them happy, but this delusion will not last. I practically guarantee it.

Also, I claim Pluto... It's tiny, it's not even a fully fledged planet, but I've always liked it.

Very well, as long as you stay away from Mars -.-

I'm watching you.

I like my quaint little rock... I am working on the heating issue, and the light issue... And the fact that life is hardly feasable on Pluto...

he isn't her fiancé because she never gave consent, and this isn't going to happen anytime soon. I'm all for people doing what they want but when they convince themselves that something is true which simply isn't so; that's when I go serious and lay down some reality. This guy is really desperate but im not happy about him making these false claims, it makes me REALLY angry!

PS you don't own Mars. its been part of the Republic of Haroldman for millennia. Yes the Republic is a real thing.
