This is just a little something I typed on this thread on an Applejack group I am member of on fimfiction.net asking what about makes her special to you.

Applejack was the first pony I started to like, I didn't know what it was I liked about her at first but I really liked her but it didn't take long for the list of reasons to rival one of Twilight Sparkles (who is also pretty awesome by the way) checklists and still keeps growing. I love the positive message that a character like Applejack sends, that you need to be true to yourself as well as to others and nowhere is this more clear than her cutie mark origin story where she moved to Manehattan and tried to be somepony she was not and knew that nothing in life was ever worth sacrificing what makes you you. And that despite all the hardships she has gone through with her parents dying when she was just a young filly and her having to take on so much responsibility at a young age she has grown into a strong, confident, successful and humble young mare.

As someone who has gone through quite a few family tragedies myself including most recently the death of my father I find how she has handled herself to be inspirational. I see much of myself in her as many people do in their favorite ponies but I also see much of my mother in her as well and she been in my corner since day one.
