Batbrony Reviews "S01:E25 - Party of One"

As I said in the last two reviews, there are three of the last four episodes in Season 1 that I consider to be among the show's finest; "Party of One" is MOST DEFINITELY one of them! Oh wow, where to even begin on this episode. I guess let's start with the obvious: Pinkie Pie.   Of Pinkie Pie's episodes, I would definitely say with the utmost confidence that this is hands down easily her funniest episode to date! Of the Season 1 episodes, it's a little trickier if this is the funniest; for me

Batbrony Reviews "My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Legend of Everfree"

Good evening everypony, and welcome back to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews"! Tonight, I'm reviewing the latest installment of "Equestria Girls," a series which I originally loathed (at least in concept) but has steadily grown on me in its own way since it first came out. That's obviously not to say that the series as a whole is perfect, but it has certainly earned its place in the MLP-verse and I no longer mind seeing new installments added to it, if only for the things which it tends to d

Batbrony Reviews "Puella Magi Madoka Magica": Characters, Part 2: Mami Tomoe

Sorry for the delay on this second entry my friends and fellow fans of "Puella Magi Madoka Magica". Without further ado, here's my review of Mami Tomoe.   Characters   Mami Tomoe, a.k.a. "Most Stylish Magical Girl", "Best and Worst Magical Girl Salesman", and "Worst at Not *puts on shades* Losing Her Head, BAZING!!! " (please don't kill me for that last one Sugar Cube )

Batbrony Reviews "Puella Magi Madoka Magica": Characters, Part 3: Sayaka Miki

The third entry of my series will take a look at Madoka's BFF Sayaka Miki (and trust me, I know there's A LOT of Sayaka-fans out there, including my bro DF, so I assure you all that I will do my best to do sweet Sayaka justice ).   Characters   Sayaka Miki, a.k.a. "The Dread Pirate Sayaka (YARRRRR!!!)", "Best Dressed Magical Girl", and "The Bad Luck Brianna of the Group".

Batbrony Reviews "S04:E12 - Pinkie Pride"

"Pinkie Pride"... so this episode was fun. Welp that's it, review over...     Oh calm your shorts, I kid, I kid (and I also communicate with Internet gifs, so what does that say about me? Can't be anything good). Whatever, let's get this review going proper.   Do I even need to start by mentioning that the ungodly streak of hits DHX has been throwing our way ever since "Rarity Takes Manehattan" (and yes, I still consider "Rainbow Falls" to be among that group of elites despite the f

Batbrony Reviews "S04:E01+02 - Princess Twilight Sparkle"

All righty, Season 4 is underway, and you know what that means! That's right, it's time for another season of reviews, starting with today's first and second episodes of Season 4, "Princess Twilight Sparkle: Part 1 and Part 2".   Let's start by getting a big elephant in the room out of the way: retconning Twilight's flying abilities. We've known for quite some time that the writers were pretty much entirely retconning her being able to fly perfectly fine at the end of the Season 3 finale for t

Batbrony Reviews "S01:E26 - The Best Night Ever"

The last episode of Season 1, "The Best Night Ever" is undoubtedly one of the most important episodes in MLP: FiM history! Whether or not the show would leave viewers wanting more after the end of Season 1 very much hinged on how well this first season finale did, and it most certainly did not disappoint in every single way imaginable. So, let's look at what makes "The Best Night Ever"... well, the best night ever.   So first off, the animation was probably the best we'd seen in the series th

Batbrony Reviews "S04:E25+26 - Twilight's Kingdom"

Well... it finally happened. After over two years, I now have a new favorite episode. "The Return of Harmony", you had a fantastic run, really, you did. But after Season 4's finale, I simply can't deny it: "Twilight's Kingdom" is, officially, my new favorite episode of the show. The thing that I find most fascinating about this is how very different both episodes are, but I'll cover that in a bit. Right now, in addition to reviewing just what makes "Twilight's Kingdom: Parts 1 and 2" such phenom

Batbrony Reviews "S02:E25+E26 - A Canterlot Wedding"

So after the dud that was "MMMystery on the Friendship Express", one would hope Studio B would at least manage to end Season 2 adequately to say the least. Let's take a look and see how they did...   *one epic viewing later*   Oh... my... gosh...   IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Wow... I mean, just... wow! That... that was amazing!!! OK, so they more than made up for "MMMystery on the Friendship Express" to say the least. "A Canterlot Wedding: Part 1 and Part 2"...

Batbrony Reviews "S02:E04 - Luna Eclipsed"

"Luna Eclipsed" was... a welcome breath of fresh air. Not that the first three episodes of Season 2 were bad by any means, no no, I consider them to be among MLP's finest episodes, same with this one. But "Luna Eclipsed" was really unlike any episode MLP had ever had before. We had (1) a new pony holiday, the first we'd really seen since "Winter Wrap Up" way back in Season 1 (and no, I'm not counting the Grand Galloping Gala, that's a formal state event, not a holiday), (2) an episode taking pla

Batbrony Reviews "S07:E 7- Parental Glideance"

Gooooood afternoon everypony, and welcome back to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews"!!!  Well... right now, I don't know what else to say but this... Why is that?  Well, that's the first word that comes to mind regarding the latest episode of MLP to premiere in the U.S., "Parental Glideance."  This episode simply had it all, every single thing that I could possibly love about a single episode of MLP rolled into one.  It was just a delightful, perfect 22 minutes of television, and to

Batbrony Reviews "S07:E17 - To Change a Changeling"

Good evening, everypony, and welcome back to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews"!  The hits just keep on coming in Season 7 with, yet again, another episode that was more than exceptional.  In fact, I'd go so far as to say that "To Change a Changeling" was downright inspired in certain moments, especially in its writing.  Let's not waste any more time dawdling on introductions and just get to it, without further ado, this is "To Change a Changeling"! Batbrony Reviews "S07:E3 - A Flurry of Emotions"

Good afternoon everypony, and welcome back to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews."  Today we've got the first normal episode of Season 7 proper, following the two season premiere episodes, and I'm very pleased to say that this was a delightful episode indeed.  That's particularly important for the third episode of a season because, in past seasons, I've noticed that very often the third episode of any given season very much sets the tone for the general level of quality one encounters or can e

Good afternoon ya'll, so sorry I didn't get this up earlier, been busy with the Ward Jenkins Q&A and some other Poniverse business. Anyways, welcome, welcome, welcome back to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews" and me oh my do we have a splendid episode to go over today!!! I really need to watch this episode again before I can determine whether or not I think it's the best of Season 6 so far, at least in my opinion, but I would say for sure that I definitely believe it to be the most exc

Batbrony Reviews "S02:E10 - Secret of My Excess"

Uh oh, watch out everypony, here comes SPIKEZILLA!!!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnK0IFyiAts   Besides of course how simply awesome he is in "The Crystal Empire: Part 1 and Part 2", "Secret of My Excess" is probably Spike's best episode to date, for good reason. It's a very fun episode, but also a very revealing one, with some interesting revelations about dragon behavior in MLP canon, some very great developments in character relationships, particularly between Spike and Rari

Batbrony Reviews "S07:E22 - Once Upon a Zeppelin"

Good afternoon everypony, and welcome back to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews"!  Well at this point it shouldn't be any surprise that this season we were delivered yet another very exceptional episode, but here we are again, and boy oh boy was this one a long time coming for a very big reason.  We all know by now that family and legacy have been the two major themes of Season 7, and this week the show hit on that theme yet again with a major appearance (for the first time ever in the show)

Apologies once again for the delayed review ya'll, I had work yesterday from 11-5 and didn't get around to watching the episode until late on Saturday night. After watching it twice already, however, I am pleased to say that I have nothing but good things to say about "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils" (except maybe for the terribly punny episode title; seriously, worst ponified title since "Sleepless in Ponyville", but hey, that episode rocked as well ).   Anyways, let's get going with this t

OK, so... wow, way to end the first half of Season 5 on a high note, am I right?! Welcome back everypony to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews," and holy cow, was that quite the episode! I literally have nothing bad to say about this one, at all, so very much like the "Slice of Life" episode review, this review's going to be more of a big ol' text of fangasming more than anything else. Batbrony Reviews "MLP S05:E07 - Make New Friends But Keep Discord"

Welcome back everypony to another "Batbrony Reviews." This week, oh gosh... so Discord finally had his "Lesson Zero" moment. One would've thought that it might've been in "Keep Calm and Flutter On" before this episode, but nope, this was definitely it. Poor dude went off the deep end from almost the first minute to the last. And ya know what...     I didn't just like it, I LOVED it! This episode... oh my goodness, this episode. My one complaint is that it wasn't longer, just because

Batbrony Reviews "Equestria Girls"

OK, well, I saw it... finally. Just last night, on YouTube. Um, spoilers ahead, but I think that's irrelevant at this point. So, before I get into the review proper... let's go back to late winter/early spring, when Season 3 ended and we first heard about... this, in order to fully understand how all of this happened.   So just as Season 3 was ending (I mean, just days before "Magical Mystery Cure" aired), certain art started circulating the Internet. Humanized art of the Mane 6. This would ge
