Sorry for the delay on this second entry my friends and fellow fans of "Puella Magi Madoka Magica". Without further ado, here's my review of Mami Tomoe.
Mami Tomoe, a.k.a. "Most Stylish Magical Girl", "Best and Worst Magical Girl Salesman", and "Worst at Not *puts on shades* Losing Her Head, BAZING!!! " (please don't kill me for that last one Sugar Cube )
The third entry of my series will take a look at Madoka's BFF Sayaka Miki (and trust me, I know there's A LOT of Sayaka-fans out there, including my bro DF, so I assure you all that I will do my best to do sweet Sayaka justice ).
Sayaka Miki, a.k.a. "The Dread Pirate Sayaka (YARRRRR!!!)", "Best Dressed Magical Girl", and "The Bad Luck Brianna of the Group".
As I said in the last two reviews, there are three of the last four episodes in Season 1 that I consider to be among the show's finest; "Party of One" is MOST DEFINITELY one of them! Oh wow, where to even begin on this episode. I guess let's start with the obvious: Pinkie Pie.
Of Pinkie Pie's episodes, I would definitely say with the utmost confidence that this is hands down easily her funniest episode to date! Of the Season 1 episodes, it's a little trickier if this is the funniest; for me
"Pinkie Pride"... so this episode was fun. Welp that's it, review over...
Oh calm your shorts, I kid, I kid (and I also communicate with Internet gifs, so what does that say about me? Can't be anything good). Whatever, let's get this review going proper.
Do I even need to start by mentioning that the ungodly streak of hits DHX has been throwing our way ever since "Rarity Takes Manehattan" (and yes, I still consider "Rainbow Falls" to be among that group of elites despite the f
Good evening everypony, and welcome back to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews"! Tonight, I'm reviewing the latest installment of "Equestria Girls," a series which I originally loathed (at least in concept) but has steadily grown on me in its own way since it first came out. That's obviously not to say that the series as a whole is perfect, but it has certainly earned its place in the MLP-verse and I no longer mind seeing new installments added to it, if only for the things which it tends to d
The last episode of Season 1, "The Best Night Ever" is undoubtedly one of the most important episodes in MLP: FiM history! Whether or not the show would leave viewers wanting more after the end of Season 1 very much hinged on how well this first season finale did, and it most certainly did not disappoint in every single way imaginable. So, let's look at what makes "The Best Night Ever"... well, the best night ever.
So first off, the animation was probably the best we'd seen in the series th
All righty, Season 4 is underway, and you know what that means! That's right, it's time for another season of reviews, starting with today's first and second episodes of Season 4, "Princess Twilight Sparkle: Part 1 and Part 2".
Let's start by getting a big elephant in the room out of the way: retconning Twilight's flying abilities. We've known for quite some time that the writers were pretty much entirely retconning her being able to fly perfectly fine at the end of the Season 3 finale for t
Well... it finally happened. After over two years, I now have a new favorite episode. "The Return of Harmony", you had a fantastic run, really, you did. But after Season 4's finale, I simply can't deny it: "Twilight's Kingdom" is, officially, my new favorite episode of the show. The thing that I find most fascinating about this is how very different both episodes are, but I'll cover that in a bit. Right now, in addition to reviewing just what makes "Twilight's Kingdom: Parts 1 and 2" such phenom
Apologies once again for the delayed review ya'll, I had work yesterday from 11-5 and didn't get around to watching the episode until late on Saturday night. After watching it twice already, however, I am pleased to say that I have nothing but good things to say about "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils" (except maybe for the terribly punny episode title; seriously, worst ponified title since "Sleepless in Ponyville", but hey, that episode rocked as well ).
Anyways, let's get going with this t
So after the dud that was "MMMystery on the Friendship Express", one would hope Studio B would at least manage to end Season 2 adequately to say the least. Let's take a look and see how they did...
*one epic viewing later*
Oh... my... gosh...
IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow... I mean, just... wow! That... that was amazing!!! OK, so they more than made up for "MMMystery on the Friendship Express" to say the least. "A Canterlot Wedding: Part 1 and Part 2"...
"Luna Eclipsed" was... a welcome breath of fresh air. Not that the first three episodes of Season 2 were bad by any means, no no, I consider them to be among MLP's finest episodes, same with this one. But "Luna Eclipsed" was really unlike any episode MLP had ever had before. We had (1) a new pony holiday, the first we'd really seen since "Winter Wrap Up" way back in Season 1 (and no, I'm not counting the Grand Galloping Gala, that's a formal state event, not a holiday), (2) an episode taking pla
Wow, wow, wow, has Season 4 hit its stride or what?! We've had two phenomenal episodes back-to-back the last two weeks, and I can only imagine things are going to get better from here. "Pinkie Apple Pie" hit all the right notes and, well, for the first time this season I'm facing a conundrum that I love to face but don't get to that often: I don't know what my favorite episode this season is anymore. Seriously, between "Rarity Takes Manehatten's" fabulosity and the goofy and heartwarming episode
Uh oh, watch out everypony, here comes SPIKEZILLA!!!
Besides of course how simply awesome he is in "The Crystal Empire: Part 1 and Part 2", "Secret of My Excess" is probably Spike's best episode to date, for good reason. It's a very fun episode, but also a very revealing one, with some interesting revelations about dragon behavior in MLP canon, some very great developments in character relationships, particularly between Spike and Rari
Welcome back everypony to another "Batbrony Reviews." This week, oh gosh... so Discord finally had his "Lesson Zero" moment. One would've thought that it might've been in "Keep Calm and Flutter On" before this episode, but nope, this was definitely it. Poor dude went off the deep end from almost the first minute to the last. And ya know what...
I didn't just like it, I LOVED it! This episode... oh my goodness, this episode. My one complaint is that it wasn't longer, just because
Alrighty, this should be a fairly short review seeing as "The Cutie Pox" is hardly what I'd call one of the greatest episodes of MLP. Don't get me wrong, this is a fine, run-of-the-mill, normal episode, but it's definitely the first of Season 2 that did not overtly impress me in some way, shape, or form. It plays a fine role as a comedy episode with a good CMC lesson to boot, but other than that, there's not too much to say about it, and the fact that it's somewhat of a chore to rewatch definite
Oh nelly, "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000"! This is a fun episode, to say the least, namely because it added a very fun fact to MLP canon: ponies like their liquor! Yes, it appears that the ponies of Equestria have a nigh unquenchable thirst for what appears to be hard cider, to the point that apparently every single pony in all of Ponyville foregoes all of their business for days on end just to partake in Cider Season and get some delicious Sweet Apple Cider. Can't really blame them, s
Wow, just... just wow. "Magical Mystery Cure" was one heck of a season finale, and it did not disappoint in the slightest! Not gonna lie, I'm feeling the liquid pride big time right now! Well, now that I've seen it, it's time to collect my thoughts about the whole of Season 3 in general. So, here it is everypony, my full review of Season 3 of MLP: FiM, including my thoughts on "Magical Mystery Cure". Enjoy!
Although the shortest season thus far, Season 3 proved to quite possibl
*scans the area* Alright, he's not in, woohoo! Down to business...
Hiya everypony, it's me, your favorite mailmare Derpy!!!
I've just borrowed this kind fellow's laptop for a bit so I could make an entry in his blog (for very important-mom reasons as you'll see in a second). How did I do that? Oh it wasn't that hard, just took some potion Princess Sparkle made that lets ponies "cross over into different dimensions" or something like that. Only cost me 5 bits, what a
So for months now, my best bud DashForever has been urging me to check out the anime "Puella Magi Madoka Magica". Welp, I finally did. So what's my consensus?
This show... is without a doubt the finest anime I've ever seen. Now, before I go any further, let me just say this, so that people are aware going ahead some things about myself before they read my opinions on the show. I would not consider myself an otaku in any sense of the word; while I enjoy great anime when I find them, I do not
Hey, hey, hey everypony, long time no see! Man, been awhile since I churned out one of these puppies. Well, let's dive right into it, starting with the most basic question of them all. Did I like this movie?
Surprisingly, yes, I did, I enjoyed it quite a lot. This didn't shock me just because, by the time I got around to seeing it, it'd already had quite a bit of good word of mouth going around online, but still, I loathed so many things about Equestria Girls that, to enjoy Rainbow Rocks as
The final CMC episode of Season 2, "Ponyville Confidential" is a very fun episode with a high quality message. While certainly not their best episode to date, there's plenty of positive to find here, so without further ado let's get cracking.
Girls, do you think I might get in trouble if we publish Rarity's diary? Girls?
So for their latest attempt to get their cutie marks, the CMC decide to join the school newspaper, the Foal Free Press, in the hopes that maybe th
Note: Sorry it took me a few days to get this blog up ya'll. Just hadn't made time for it is all, my bad.
OK, well, this review should be pretty short. Not that the episode was bad or anything, it accomplished what it wanted and needed to just fine. But for a key episode, or an episode in general, "It Ain't Easy Being Breezies" was just pretty boring and forgettable, despite doing some things quite well. So, without further ado, let's get started.
First I guess we'll cover Fluttershy and
Sweet applesauce, "Apple Family Reunion" was undoubtedly the best Applejack episode ever!!! Lot of things to cover for this one, so let's begin, shall we?
First of all, this episode was wonderfully executed and paced, and that is no small feat considering this episode was covering a family reunion of all things!!! But did this episode just have the family reunion? Heck no, we had back story on the reunion, preparation for the reunion, and the reunion itself of all things, and yet at no point
"Flight to the Finish", our first Cutie Mark Crusaders-centric episode of Season 4, actually surprised me in many ways and was, believe it or not, better than I expected it to be. Maybe that was largely because until today, I kind of expected this episode to end with Scootaloo flying; now, that would've been pretty heartwarming I'm sure, but maybe just a little too heartwarming, a little too Mary Sue-ish, shall we say. Such an ending, in hindsight, might've been too upbeat, especially given th
Well, now that I've got your attention, HELLO EVERYPONY, I'M BACK!!! Wow, been awhile hasn't it? So as you can see, no, I am not dead thankfully. The truth is, well, I said some not so nice things about Thereisnospoon's Bane cosplay, and, well... he didn't take it too kindly. Things happened... Yeah, I'd rather not talk about i- wait, what am I saying, that's just the bad dream I had the other night after eating all those tacos. Anyways, where was I? Oh right, sorry, that's not what hap
