Chikorita Reviews: Greeny Phatom The Movie

Since I have some downtime before I head off to Whinny City, I've decided to do a little review. And let me just say, I think I have found my new favorite animated movie. This should've gotten the Oscar for best animated feature heck, the Oscar for best feature. I am of course talking about Greeny Phatom The Movie.     So this movie came out in theaters in 2005 and was based off the hit TV show, Greeny Phatom which aired on Fox, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network coming out in 1989.   The

Chikorita Reviews: The Crystaling

Time for procrastination to end. Thanks to the other 5 people for reviewing it before me, I finally got the energy to review the season 6 premiere.   So last season we ended off with a divisive 2 parter. I was okay with The Cutie Re-Mark, but I can see why some people wouldn't be. So it's time for Starlight to really test out her redemption here. And it went surprisingly smooth. In fact, it's the highlight of this 2 parter. Starlight here wants to not dwell on the past and start a new beginnin

Chikorita Reviews: AVGN Adventures

You know what, I've got a Steam gift card so I'll buy a lot of Steam games and review some. We've got some indies coming up to review here. Let's start with AVGN Adventures. Also, I'll review it if I get far enough in the game to get the just of it. I don't have to necessarily beat it, but get a good distance into the game.   I would review this game in AVGN's style but that might get me banned. So let's just jump into this.   The story is AVGN gets sucked into a game and has to find the mak

MLP Season 5 Full Review

I'm late on this. Yay! Welp, time to jump into this.   Season 5 of MLP has been an interesting season. It once again adds new spins and ideas into the show without completely selling out. Season 5 does some interesting things to make it stand out. It reformed two of the most hated antagonists on the show, it showed us what the life of background ponies are like, and it made some characters surprisingly sympathetic. First, I might as well go over each episode again and my thoughts on them. Some

Chikorita Reviews: The Cutie Re-Mark

Season 5 has come to a close. Did it end with a bang or a fizzle? Let's find out.   So this 2 parter is a time travel episode written by Josh Haber. Man Josh, you really are being ambitious by trying out one of the hardest stories to write perfectly. With time travel stories, there are so many things to take into consideration. Even if you try to keep it as simple as possible, you can still raise a ton of questions elsewhere. They got the first big question these stories usually raise out of t

Chikorita Reviews/Fanboys Over: The Mane Attraction

Wow.   Just wow.   This episode.   It blew me away.   This episode was such a masterpiece. Amy Keating Rogers, my favorite writer is off for Disney and before she left, she made this nice sendoff gift. There is so much to talk about here so lets just get into it. So like the other episode I fanboyed over Pinkie Pride, this episode features a guest star, a Broadway singer named Lena Hall. She's not as known as Weird Al, but that's cool. Her singing is beautiful as shown in this episode.

Chikorita Reviews: The Hoofields and McColts

Oh look, a map episode. Happy Twilight? You can now do stuff? Even though Fluttershy did 90% of the work.   In this episode, we've got Twilight and Fluttershy trying to settle a feud between two quarreling families. Both these families share a pair of star-crossed lovers and- okay I'm mixing stories up. This episode is just that, a retelling of the Hatfields and McCoys just with ponies. Kind of like how this whole show is like a sitcom with ponies and fantasy/adventure elements.   The episod

Chikorita Reviews: What About Discord?

What about Discord?   What about this episode?   Well I can at least say I like it more than other people seem to.   Let me elaborate. A lot of people seem to be mixed on this episode as a whole. Personally I like it more than I actually hate it but I do it acknowledge some of its flaws. Why do I like it better than others? This might seem a little biased, but I really connect to the moral here. Growing up, especially throughout middle school and high school, I had acquaintances, but not r

Chikorita Reviews: Scare Master

(Note: Read this in a horror voice for the full effect.)   Our Halloween endeavors continue with an episode review of Scare Master. It was a great treat to air this episode on Halloween, even though it was leaked. I watched it leaked but still decided to watch it on Halloween, so that's why I'm reviewing it early other than the fact I want to still be in theme with the holiday.   This Nightmare Night episode is a Fluttershy one indeed, overusing the Fluttershy episode template, but does it b

Chikorita Reviews: Hearthbreakers

A Christmas episode a week before Halloween? That's odd. I'm guessing someone must not have done the math on these air dates.   Ignoring air date confusion, let's review the episode!   This episode can be considered a sequel to Pinkie Apple Pie. They once again cover on the potential of the Apples and the Pies potentially being distant relatives. As they go into the episode they have interaction that doesn't go very well. The Pies live a completely way as opposed to the Apples. They seem to

Chikorita Reviews: The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows

I really slack off with these reviews. It's Thursday and I'm only now getting to this episode. That's weird for me because this is a Pinkie episode. You'd think I would've gotten to this one right away. Well what happened was I had some family over for the weekend so I had split focus the entire weekend. So without further ado, let's get into the episode.   Let's talk about the elephant in the room first: Cadence is having a baby. This has been under speculation since as early as season 3 with

Chikorita Reviews: Crusaders of the Lost Mark

Now you might look at this title and wonder, "Wait, you never reviewed Broherhooves Social." Well you see, I can't muster enough in that episode worth talking about. The only thing I can think to talk about in that episode is the controversy surrounding that episode which is basically just Tumblr being offended by something that was never really offensive in the first place. But, here's a quick review on Brotherhooves Social:   Decent Beginning   Boring middle   Super strong ending   Oh,

Chikorita Reviews: Made in Manehatten

Behold, the most middle of the road episode of the season.   This is what I think. In my current season 5 episode rankings, this episode would probably rest right in the middle. Nothing really pissed me off, but nothing really wowed me either. It's just your typical shenanigans.   I suppose it was nice to see Coco Pommel again and her filly design was adorable, and of coarse it's got a nice moral at the end giving Applejack some development, but everything else in the episode feels meh.

Chikorita Reviews: Rarity Investigates

Welcome back. For this review, we've got another Rarity episode and oh boy do we got an interesting one. Let's just jump right into the review!   So, this is the first time Rarity has been paired with Rainbow Dash for this episode. A lot of people have been asking for this pair up probably since season 1. They barely have any interaction on their own. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is that one scene in Swarm of the Century. It does make an interesting pair up since they hav

Chikorita Reviews: Canterlot Boutique

Alright back from a mid-season hiatus with what looks like a line of Rarity episodes for the next few weeks. They really need to space out character episodes better. She doesn't get an episode in the first half and suddenly she gets a line of 3. Anyways on to the review.   Let me just say that I love how Rarity finally developed somewhere to achieve one of her goals. It shows character growth and development.   I also loved the song in this episode. It might seem similar to Art of the Dress

Chikorita Reviews: Rick and Morty

This is how I spend Favorite Pokemon Day. Not really making posts about it, but instead binge watching a show that a lot of people have been talking about. And you know what, it was totally worth it.   So there's this common annoying trend that goes on in adult cartoons that they feel the need to copy South Park. By copy South Park I mean by being as vulgar and shocking as possible for attention. Shows like Brickleberry and modern Simpsons and Family Guy do this. They all do this while forgett

Chikorita Reviews: Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?

I really gotta stop using this mid-season hiatus as an excuse for me to go on my own review hiatus. It's really making me lazy. This episode aired like a few weeks ago and I still haven't gotten to reviewing it.   So Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep. It's... interesting. From the get-go it features the mane six using rainbow power on Nightmare Moon, and then shows it's a dream. It being a dreams gives the writers more wiggle room to make the episode as surreal and nonsensical as possible. Th

Chikorita Quickly Reviews: Amending Fences

(I hate doing this but I don't have a lot of free time when I'm at my dad's house).   Pros:   Realtibility everywhere!   Everyone was characterized brilliantly.   Callbacks were spot on.   The whole thing was prefectly heartwarming   Cons:   The first scene was slightly contrived.       So yeah, fantastic episode. Defiantly one of my favorites of season 5.   Final Score: 10/10

Chikorita Quickly Reviews: Party Pooped

I'm just gonna make this one quick since I really should be packing for my dad's house.   Pros:   Pinkie's characterization brilliant!   Twilight's characterization brilliant!   Gags were spot on!   Cons:   Yaks are dicks!   Pacing issues!   Overall, great episode. Not my favorite Pinkie episode, but it's up there. Great job new writer. Did better than the last one   Final Score: 8.5/10

Chikorita Reviews: Princess Spike

Oh look, an episode of season 5 I can say that I didn't like.   Yeah, I'm not one to get too negative in reviews. I tend to be mellow when it comes to story flaws. Heck, I somewhat liked Tanks for the Memories despite some debatable flaws with Rainbow Dash. However, this one here, I just couldn't get myself to like.   Granted, I went into this one with very little expectations considering that the whole plot to me seemed like a recipe for disaster but that still doesn't make it any better.

Chikorita Reviews: Slice of Life

Uh, what?   That was my first reaction to the episode. I came in with the knowledge of knowing that this would be about background ponies and probably be filled to the roof with fanservice. But despite all that, I still enjoyed it. But the issue is I can't properly rank this episode.   Much similar to my I.M. Weasel review, this episode is very hard for me to rank. If I were to, it would probably be around a 7 or 8, but i don't know. I think it's because it's more of an episode that's better

Chikorita Reviews: Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom

You know, when I start playing through a game, my internet activity goes low, mostly because I'm so focused on the game. And I've been gaming quite a bit lately, mostly due to the boredom that is the summer. That's kind of why I haven't done a cartoon cartoon review in a bit. And I'm not even sure if I can even do that one Poniverse fanfic anymore due to how much gaming distracted me. Oh well, time to focus on this.   So, licensed games or games based of TV shows or movies tend to be known for

Chikorita Talks: Banjo Kazooie

What you guys thought I was gonna review Splatoon for a game review? Well, I'll probably review that next game review. I actually don't like to a lot of game reviews. This is mostly due to multiple reasons. My interest in very few game series, the fact that I'm not that good at a lot of games, and the fact that I'll be addicted to a game for weeks and then never pick it up again for weeks or months.   Since I'm now on summer break, and end up being bored I decided, "Why not play some games?" Chikorita Reviews: I.M. Weasel

Welcome back to this Cartoon Cartoon Review Marathon. The reason this one took a while is A. I have finals so those take up quite a bit of time and B. This show is honestly very hard for me to talk about. Why is that? You'll see in the review.   The basic premise of this show are the madcap adventures of a weasel named Well, I.M. Weasel and a baboon named I.R. baboon. Weasel is usually the one who has all the great things in life well Baboon lives in jealousy and tries to one-up him.   The

Chikorita Reviews: The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone

You know what, my video reviews haven't really been going well. They keep ending up very brief and not well thought out. This is due to not having a lot of time to make them. I go to school during the week and I get really busy on weekends. So I'm gonna hold off on video reviews for a bit. I might do them once summer hits where I'll have more time, but meh.   So here we are with The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone. And honestly it's my favorite episode so far this season. Okay, I might come off
